  • Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2016 to kick off an era of sheer and total lack of competition. But there are some myths circulating around that Golden State team. Namely, that Steph Curry was a co-best player on that team, and that LeBron James was the best player in those series. In this video, we will take a closer look at the first Warriors Kevin Durant championship in 2017.

L take. Level the playing field, Lebron stomps KD. That doesn’t make Lebron the goat so chill, but he is better than curry and KD. KD played with no pressure those years on the most stacked team of all time, he had so many wide open lanes to the basket because of the coverage demanded by the shooting on that team, all he had to do was spot up, transition pull up, occasionally iso against someone not named Lebron. If you actually watched the games, which you obviously didn’t, you’d only find a couple clips of KD scoring on Lebron, but you’ll find plenty clips of Lebron literally just running through KD.

Kyrie vs Curry isn't really fair when Curry is gravitationally enabling the Durant vs Lebron comparison.
Durant's lack of success anywhere else other than Golden State proves it, he doesn't generate such insane production when he isn't playing in the freedom of Curry's gravitational opened space.
We dont discredit Curry for needing to recruit Durant because he didn't need to. He won without Durant, He literally proved it wasn't the key factor to winning or not for him. Winning is the most important thing, so he'll still do it to make winning as surefire as possible, but it isnt a necessary prerequisite to winning in the first place.

One series doesn’t make a player better than another but Durant took advantage of ty lu’s scheme which was to take curry out of it. And he still almost averaged a triple double as a small point guard. Also let’s not act like Kobe wasn’t considering leaving the lakers when they weren’t being a competent organization. Kobe also tried to get melo to the lakers. Nobody can win alone so let’s not run that narrative. And MJ arguably had the most compentent GM of all time.
