I love the recognition of Hetfield as a guitarist. The lead gets more credit, but his rhythm work is next level and often times he's playing the same riffs or licks in unison with Hammett though they are so "on" that you cant always tell.. He's exceptionally good.
Dude creeping death and enter sandman is the best for the moscow concert! For best master of puppets live check out Seattle 89 and/or more recent Master of Puppets live in Manchester. Best performance done in literally heavy rain! This is a surprisingly terrible video of MOP live there are tonnes more that are better!
The reason for so many people being there, was it was the first time western artists were allowed to perform there since before the cold war. Even people that were not metal fans were there, and many had never heard the bands before.
You need to check out Enter Sandman from the '91 Moscow show ASAP. The sound quality is much better for starters, but more importantly, it's by far the best video for showing that Moscow crowd. It's absolutely stunning to watch. Another one to check out after that, is Creeping Death from that same show. Not only is it a monster performance with great sound quality, but you get an awesome shot of how fast James can downpick (at about the 1:14 mark).
Hetfields mic was adjusted fine for Sandman. What’s also missing from this clip is any vid of that huge crowd, which is one of the fun aspects of the Sandman clip.
My family was there. It was nuts 😂 + it was a huge deal for Russia as the USSR broke up and the iron curtain dropped. Metallica was at their peak & they were extremely popular in Russia and still are.
im a down picker myself . i lose rhythm up picking on some songs , and yes its alot harder to keep timing as up picks are split second , while you have to regain position to down pick . but you do get use to those songs , and it keeps that bassy deep sound .
Great reaction bro! Love your videos and your deep dives into the song, band and artist's! I know you have done Master of puppets studio version and live, but I couldn't let you pass it without checking on Seatle '89 where they play this in its entirety. Truly Metallica at their peak. If not Master, then I'd encourage you to check out any other song from that gig. Keep doing what you're doing dude!
Imagine getting separated from your friends in a crowd of 1.6 million people 🙄😵💫 Being cool, calm and collected, as I am, I'd freak the F out! Metallica is great, love their stuff.
a Million isnt any different than a thousand Im pretty sure. They just do what they do, or did. .I was always bnervous before a show 20 people didnt matter,200 people or 5 people .... Its all the same youre going out to do what you do best you can.
in eastern Europe, we love dark metal music, check out "Vader", "Decapitated", "Behemoth" (polish metal bands) or Jinjer (ukrainian). Greetings from Poland
As some people are saying. This isn’t the best performance from this concert from them. Enter Sandman and Creeping Death are the better ones. Sadly this is only about half of master of puppets and the recording sounds a bit off. Highly recommend checking out the studio version of Creeping death and then immediately watching the live version.
The sound on this video is terrible, sorry. There are other songs from this event with much better sound and they give you a better idea of the actual vibe that day. A lot of people died that day to make this historical event happen… they were expecting a fraction of the size of the crowd that actually showed up and people were Trampled to death, fights happened, all kinds of shit, and the soldiers who were security pretty much gave up their post and started partying 🤘🏼💕😎you can see that some of the other videos. Please check out ‘creeping death’ from this show or pretty much any other song lol Pantera was there too and ‘domination’ is another killer song with amazing vibes from the crowd, and if you’ve yet to see Dimebag Darrell play guitar this is the place to do it, another incredibly gifted soul gone too soon.✌✨
read the history of europe after the wall in berlin falls and the udssr goes back to be russia and alot of other countrys to bee free again an then comes metallica live on the red place the light in the darkness i would say^^
I usually see Enter the Sandman & Creeping Death from this concert but this looks like a completely different concert i say this humbly tho I could be wrong.
@@davidmackeown9318 I don’t remember but it looks like a completely different crowd the noise from the crowd in the other videos was so intense it was impossible to control much less direct I could be wrong like I said in any case he already did a lyric review first which makes me respect our host cause he respects the lyricism.

Everyone knows that hetfield is a better musician than kirk hammett
S+ tier rhythm guitarist and one of the most influential right hands in all of music, every instrument included
I don’t understand this. You’re calling Het ‘shit tier’, but also one of the most influential rhythm players in rock history?
James is the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time
The "S & M" album is the best version and sound quality of this song. Its 2 sets with the san Francisco symphony and it really is beautiful.
Its a powefull album.
You need to check out creeping death from the same concert
You should check out Megadeth play Symphony of Destruction Live in Argentina. The crowd is off the hook!!!
That's an insane crowd performance
@@arnoldcox9128 I heard the band was burnt and about to quit. Thank God for Argentina!!!
@@ramonalfaro3252 I didn't know that

I think that's what happened. He got his requests mixed up. Requests for Creep-Moscow '91, and Puppets-Seattle '89
Amazing, crazy show and way lit crowd, for another from this show try Enter Sandman, the crowd is out of its mind! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Yes you never see the crowd here, take a look at Enter Sandman
The reason for so many people being there, was it was the first time western artists were allowed to perform there since before the cold war.

That’s not true Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, Scorpions, Motley Crue and Cinderella played at the Moscow music peace festival in 1989

James is a better guitarist than Kirk.. there, I said it. Also, Jason was an absolute BEAST on live performances. Cheers, mate!
100 % agree about jason .

Bought Master Of Puppets on picture disc in '86. (Showing my age!)

James should definitely get more credit as a gutair player....how nervous would you be performing in front of a million people?

Playing fast af and sing at same time is not a common thing 😅🔥🤟🏼

Damn, you didn't even get to the best part of the song! Gotta check out the studio version or Seattle '89.
Downpick for the win. Right hand goat. Have to pick twice as fast as alternate picking
Well, concedering what is going on. Masters,
Hi love your videos
Bro is gona freak out when he learns about the Soviet Onion and Nikolas ||.
Maby thats why dark music speaks to them
Oh damn, back when they only played half of the song live.
"Lars is going off..."
... rhythm. 🤣
Noo there are maaany much better live version than this , seattle 1989 per exemple
And it’s not the full version of the song they didn’t played the best parts of it

день когда русская культура приняла поражение коммунизма и победу капитализма
жаль что те дни давно прошли и мы забыли что такое свобода…
not even the whole song...probably about half, before the bridge to the interlude
the live versions are really the best way to experience Metallica
You only did half a song!
Bro, half of the song.
They didn't play the whole song back then...
I don't think this is the right concert m8
I usually see Enter the Sandman & Creeping Death from this concert but this looks like a completely different concert i say this humbly tho I could be wrong.
I think it's right concert , just diff camera angles.

Half song
Sorry dude, try again. Audio sucked and only about half the song. WTH? Peace/JT
