When you lose a child the anger is so great you just can’t imagine. I feel for these parents. I really don’t think the trial will help the anger or the grief
it’s always so exciting yet so eerie when i see a new episode as a houstonian
Yes!!! I go back to that time in my life and think "OMG! I was doing (blank) while this was happening across town!".
Thank you for watching! Let us know if you have any cases in mind that you'd like to see on The Evidence Room.
@@KPRC2Click2Houston The case of Brandy Smith. She was murdered at Sharpstown Mall Memorial Day weekend in 1999. I knew her well. We went to school together for years.
I always wondered about this incident. It didn't receive the media attention the way Parkland did.
It’s been almost 6 years and i’m still not over in what happened. Santa Fe, is still recovering from what happened.
It's a story that we still struggle to tell. Thank you for watching and we hope you are able to heal.❤
I'm Alvin and I heard about it through our off road recovery radio that afternoon
Sending you prayers on your journey too healing! ❤
Scott is an amazing father and husband. With no training at all he ran towards an active school shooting to save the woman he loves.
Brilliant youre back! I love this series its absolutely fascinating. Greetings from scotland.
Glad you enjoy it!
How can that poor mother be made to wait 10 fvcking hours before being told her child was murdered, i DO NOT understand.
Because in some cases, wrong people were notified and they want to be sure.
I love the evidence room
Thank you for watching!
Prayers for Victims and victims families
Knowing that school shootings are common, that theres no mobile phone signal there , the classroom landlines dont work?. WTAF. The education dept should be liable for them having nothing to call 911 with.
Most of the phones in the school didn’t work. That area of the school you would lose signal at times. They replaced the phones, but the teachers still had a hard time calling out
@@TexasGirl22 So if theres no ( or spotty) cell service, you make extra sure the landlines work! The education dept have a legally required 'Duty of Care' for pupil & teacher safety.
Hard to believe it’s been 6 yrs already. Everything about that day will never be forgotten Watch Chase’s Story sandy hook promise. That’s my Son . This episode was very hard to watch and very emotional for me. Thank you KPRC2Click 2 Houston for always being there.
Thank you for watching and sharing. We know these stories are hard to watch, but we feel it's important to give a voice to the families of the victims.
God be with you and your family love. I can't imagine what you're going through, but know that the citizens of the whole Houston metropolitan area are with you in spirit as you're healing as well. ❤❤❤

His parent/parents did not notice his mental health??
Nope.
I am very anxious to hear answers to this question.
From looking at Columbine it's imperative that parents pay more attention to how their kids think & act. Rarely is that ever the case!
@@melfarm9109 His parents have money. They most likely don’t care.
This is where we can and should do the most work, teaching about mental health and warning signs. More school shootings have been stopped by one thing than any thing else: friends, families, and school reports. As more people learn the warning signs, more are making reports and more are taking those reports seriously.
Im Australian and can PERSONALLY attest to the difference gun reform makes.
There is no other country on Earth that has mass shooting problems even remotely like the USA does, an average of 12 mass shootings a week how can this no illicit change??
But its the school shootings that get me, why are your babies paying with their lives for the inaction of those who are SUPPOSED to protect them, why are your next generation loosing their lives so adults can choose 'rights' over 'their little lives'
I can only HOPE that the next generation coming through, the ones that actually live this horror day in and day out will be brave enough to stand up and make the changes needed when they themselves are adults and in positions of power to save their children, their future generations.
Australia had an horrific mass shooting in 1996 35 people died, within months, within the same year the laws were changed, a 3mth long buy back scheme was introduced, gun owners were asked to relinquish their guns for every gun handed over a check for $100 was given, you didn't need to give any information about the gun nothing, the laws here are very strict on getting a gun licence and even stricter are the type of guns allowed to be owned, you also must have 2 combination lockable secured safes, 1 for the guns and a separate one for ammunition, all guns MUST be registered, all gun owners MUST have a licence, no semi or full automatics, and a bunch of other laws and safety precautions the point is though since then we have had.................
ZERO mass shootings since 1996, that's 28yrs, no kid here ever has to go to school and wonder if they will be killed, no kid has to go to school here and practice "active shooter" drills and NO parent ever has worry about whether their child's life will be stolen by some ego bruised, selfish, "hard done by" revenged filled POS.
Surely the most basic of rights, the right to not be murdered/the right to live is MORE important than the right to bare arms, surely.
'bear' arms
Thank you for your comment.
The right to bear arms supersedes your need to “feel” safe.
Yeah, how's that working out for ya? You all had one of the most tyrannical governments during COVID. Take away the guns in the US, and only the criminals and government have them. No f'ing thanks.
A LOT of reform has actually happened. There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of gun laws changed across every state. California has the strictest gun laws in the nation and still had/has mass shootings. Because gun laws already in place aren't enforced properly and aren't the changes that matter. More school shootings have been stopped by one thing than any thing else: friends, families, and school reports. As more people learn the warning signs, more are making reports and more are taking those reports seriously.
So glad your back i love your series
Have been binge watching and have 3 to go , love this channel
I went to school in Santa Fe when all the schools were conveniently located on War Path. I even took ballet, gymnastics and tap with Ms. Lindie right next to the old Winns or what might be still, The Dollar General. I'm definitely from a different era of school kids. Mean girls roamed the halls. Bullying was common place, especially for us lower income kids who wore hand me downs and garage sale clothes. We were taught American history, Texas History, said the Pledge of Allegiance each class day, hung the flag outside of school and learned how to fold it and why we respect our fallen soldiers. We picked on each other but I never could have imagined that violence of this caliber would ever make its way into the halls of Santa Fe schools. Even though we would ruse each other, the atmosphere never felt like it would change and evil would creep in. Not like this.
Anyone could become severely mentally ill after doing that. My heart goes out to all the families, who are the ones that continue to suffer which is beyond unfair.
My heart breaks for the families who are suffering through this unnecessary bull💩!! If wishes were horses I'd give each of you guys a ride. I hope you're able to stay strong. Inshallah. 🙏🏼
Wrong artery, he actually got shot in the Brachial artery the Femoral artery is in your leg
Before the shooting he was on the honour roll and after that he's incompetent to stand tfrial. If he was that unwell, where were the signs?
Wow! 🥹 I have tears streaming down my face listening to the mother's of the fallen children, and the LEO'S that responded and were injured on this horrific day.
My heart goes out to everyone impacted by one boy's unimaginable horrendous mindset. ❤❤
On May 18, 2018, a school shooting occurred at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, United States, in the Houston metropolitan area. Ten people - eight students and two teachers - were fatally shot, and thirteen others were wounded. Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old student at the school, was taken into custody. The shooting is the eighth-deadliest school shooting in the United States.
Condolences and Strength to all victims and families who experienced this tragic event!
Shame on Abbott for not helping these parents. An independent commission is the least they could’ve gotten. Nothing will bring those children back, but they deserve to understand and should get justice
I agree , except he’s not a man, he’s a little boy Quinn is .
Yes they should talk or be haunted the rest of their lives !!!!
Nobody talked about the elephant in the room. Gun control
Literally everyone talks about it and it does nothing to improve the situation. A LOT of reform has actually happened. There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of gun laws changed across every state. California has the strictest gun laws in the nation and still had/has mass shootings. Because gun laws already in place aren't enforced properly and aren't the changes that matter. What was the hole reason for it ? Did the shooter saw why he did it ?
There has been no reasoning confirmed..
Thanks for your question @carlossolier1056, we don't have that answer. It's unclear if we'll ever get that answer because of the competency issue.
A lot of students that went to school with him say that one of the female victims rejected him and that’s when he made the plan. It makes sense because she was in the art room he opened fire in. My sibling was in his class and said he was quiet and at lunch him and his friends would be making satanic symbols with their French fries.
But wasn't there an interview released early of this kid or am I mistaking him for someone else?
It's terrible there's so many now that it's hard to keep them all separate.
Maybe I'm thinking of the one where they actually got to stop the shooter before before he shot anyone and this kid was hearing voices too.
If I find it I'll come back and mention it.
I dont know about this particular kid, but it’s usually case of ‘a nobody wants to be somebody’, or thats what Ive concluded it to be. Add immaturity and easy access to guns, the promised land of mass shootings is ready. Mental illness mightve been a factor here, but either way, it’s just sad.
Why didn’t more victims parents speak? Not trying to be insensitive but I had read that this shooter was bullied and he specifically targeted the others students for bullying. Is this true? I wish they’d touched on this
Ridiculous
In which sense?
Malingering.
Despite the edits, the body language of a certain legal professional is impossible to convincingly conceal-not even remotely convincing.
Dimitrios Pagourtzis !!!!KILLER
What do you think of the gun fanatics wanting to have USA 2A rights in Canada? Once that bottle is open, how do you close it again?
What do you mean by gun fanatics? Do you know 90% of mass shootings in the states happen in ‘gun-free zones?’
You can't close it again. In my country, if they ban guns, law abiding citizens will abide. The problem is, criminals will not. And, since there are so many guns in circulation, the criminals will always be able to obtain guns. That leaves law abiding citizens in fear of not being able to defend against the gun toting criminal. Police response is not faster than a bullet. So, people want the option to have a gun, even though most of us do not have them.
But, you can't go back, once you allow widespread gun distribution.
A LOT of reform has actually happened in the US. There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of gun laws changed across every state. California has the strictest gun laws in the nation and still had/has mass shootings. Because gun laws already in place aren't enforced properly and aren't the changes that matter. @@courtneyfrost915 Also, the weapon isn't the issue. In other countries that outlawed guns, knife crimes immediately went on the rise. A guy in France killed more people with a truck than have been killed in ANY mass shooting. Mental health and terrorism are both issues that need to be better addressed. By a LOT.
These stories are also going to be told by the children of the Palestine and Israel war but they will be 10 times worse!
Especially the survivors of October 7th. I've heard their stories and the released hostages' stories. It's more horrifying than any mass shooting story or war story.
School shootings only happen in the US, they continue to happen because the solution to the problem is never even discussed, it's considered to be something that could never happen in America. Consequently, nothing is done to combat gun crimes, such as school shootings, + not surprisingly they escalate in frequency yet still no action is taken.
The truth is, although US media + society in general avoid facing up to it, gun crimes like that of the attack at Santa Fe High, are just accepted as the price you pay for the pleasure of legally possessing the firearms that so many Americans do, despite having no need or good reason to do so.
It appears that America is willing to put up with no end of gun violence as long as no stricter controls are introduced, + as long as it's someone else's kids getting shot, which it is most of the time, attitudes quickly change when it's not, though.
School shootings happen because nothing is done to prevent them, they're allowed to happen, the guns you all love so much get used to do what they're made to do + those directly involved talk about the need for change while everyone else makes sure that doesn't happen.
What is getting discussed more often these days, + I believe it's supposed to be taken seriously?...?...? It's the stroke of genius whereby potential shooters are identified before a shot gets fired, perfect, or it would be if we were anywhere remotely close to making such a thing possible, which we're not, it's a ridiculous suggestion.
Don't forget, the answer to the problem is well-known + proven to work, the UK had a school shooting in 1996 + in stark contrast to the US, young kids getting shot dead whilst attending school was considered in no way acceptable + steps were taken to prevent any similar attacks + to this day not a single school shooting has ever taken place.
Regular citizens have no need to own firearms, removing them from society is therefore only logical + no credible argument against doing so has ever come up.
The more time that goes by + mass shooting events continue to go on in the US, the more people understand the situation + what is allowed to keep on happening just so people get to keep guns they don't need + can't justify to any meaningful extent.
The next time a bunch of school kids get slaughtered in their classroom, you know why, some people still don't seem to get it, this film is all about searching for answers but the main issue is avoided, like it always is.
What was on the kid's mind is the big issue, did that train of thought contribute to the UK completely wiping out school shootings from the nation's reality????
No, of course it didn't, the US won't ever prevent school shootings because they won't accept the solution, they're different from everyone else, they need guns but they can't say, why???
Frankly, it's pathetic, they value guns beyond all reason in spite of the crime + violence that they bring, they can't offer a single positive aspect that comes with them but the thought of doing without them is not an option, they won't hear of it.
So, next school shooting when parents are looking for answers, someone should explain that it's just part of America, like baseball + Coca-Cola, have the guts to tell it like it is........... Of course, no one will, fortunately people like me are on hand to do the job, dirty as though it may be, someone's got to do it....................
Those who sacrifice freedom for safety deserve neither freedom nor safety. Cry harder, you will not infringe on rights.
It's interesting that not one victim here talked about gun control. Maybe because it's Texas
A LOT of reform has actually happened. There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of gun laws changed across every state. More school shootings have been stopped by one thing than any thing else: friends, families, and school reports. As more people learn the warning signs, more are making reports and more are taking those reports seriously.
And other countries have mass stabbings, bombings, and there were more people killed in France by a truck than were killed at ANY mass shooting in the US. So...are you planning to outlaw trucks?
@@sivonni No, outlawing trucks, knives + bombs is a ridiculous notion, one which I never even remotely touched upon, but when people do I always wonder why???
It's such a laughably weak point, I'm well aware there are all sorts of tools, other than guns, you can use to kill people + I'm not talking about banning them.
Is that supposed to make banning guns a waste of time??? Because there are other ways to kill still available???
This is a typically desperate attempt at opposition much like the moronic 'Guns don't kill anyone, people do', argument.
The same can be said of heroin, presumably.........
Banning guns isn't ridiculous, or impractical + any pro-gunner who understands the issue knows only too well no credible argument against the idea, exists.
The gun crowd have never been able to justify their side of things.
How do guns benefit American communities, what advantages do they offer?
They've never come up with anything close to an answer to that one, a satisfactory one, anyway........ And it's hardly a trick question, is it?
A final word, banning guns isn't crazy at all, + guess what???
They did it in Australia, + the UK + gun crime + violence is........ I'll call it 'uncommon', in both nations.
They made changes around 30 years ago, what's changed in the US, in that time???
Well, take school shootings, since Columbine in 1999, they've become so common they struggle to make the news outside of the state they occur in.
Nothing good, in other words.
Regular people don't need guns, they only offer US communities crime + violence, I could go on........ If I did, you wouldn't have an answer, maybe some other piss-weak nonsense I can walk all over, but nothing worthwhile because there's no such thing.
People often resort to insults + name-calling because they can't offer anything that supports their view.
I hope you won't do that, I've been deeply hurt by some of the slurs + accusations I've had thrown at me + I deny every one of them........
