As a true crime consumer- even though I’m in Canada- I gotta say, this is a hell of a crime show. Very well put together. 🙏
I love the aesthetic details of placing older clips within the frames of older TVs.

These evidence rooms are underrated! They are pretty good little true crime episodes.

Investigate journalism itself as a whole is being thrown to the wayside because ratings, potential loss from advertisers, budget restraints, and old fashioned laziness. Investigative journalism takes a ton of work that the viewer can see, a ton more goes on behind the scenes. You got to make sure you have crossed your T's and tittle your lowercase I's and J's. While getting a single fact wrong can injure the trust the public has for you, defamation lawsuits injure far bit more. True crime is a form of investigative journalism if anyone is wondering what I'm on about has to do about anything. I was an occasional guest columnist doing investigate journalism for a long dead video game website. To even get involved you must have a drive to find out. I spent 9 months on a single investigation once. I was doing everything myself. All the work I put in was ultimately ignored by the public. It crushes you the first time it happens, you get used to it after a while.

I had a counsellor who lived in and got her degree in Texas and said that rarely did you see a pickup truck without a shotgun mounted across the back window.
We dicussed the fact that violence permeated almost every aspect of life there, which was the main reason she moved after she got her degree and moved to Canada, which was sedate by comparison. When I mentioned this case to her, she just shook her head and said, “only in Texas!” A sad reflection on the citizens of that state to have to live down. SMH

I use to shop at Wanda's MIL shop on Dale Dell. I also ran and I mean ran straight into Wanda at Walgreens I looked up and jumped back. I said damn it you try to kill people for less than this. She lived 2 streets away from me as well. My daughter went to school with both girls. I use to buy insurance from Verna she was a very sweet woman. The place they both lived in is called Sterling Green. Now it's a damn dump as is all of Channelview. We moved out decades ago.

but to want to murder someone to become a cheerleader i mean what happened to normal stuff like getting her disqualified or cutting off her ponytail or something how was killing her going to help her make the team?

I totally agree but this cheer squad didn’t have actual tryouts but people in the school voted. That was ridiculous to begin with but she took it to the next level.

Mother's living vicariously through their children has always existed but no where to the levels it does today as many would agree that using their childten for social media acceptance and clout has reached a hughly disturbing point. Although not as in your face as this insane case, I believe its safe to argue that laws have not caught up with the mental and physical abuse which is taking place in full view of the country. I believe it's also safe to argue that in their drive to be relevant on social media, mothers have created an environment which is ripe for child suicide to be a logical outcome. 😢

It made headlines all over the place and even A&E show city confidential juicy. I seen it on an current affair with Maury Povich this was way before the internet and social media took off . At least it took the heat of the nightmare of the filming of the Texas chainsaw massacre there in Texas before this I heard that the Texas film commission has never lived that one down.

I read an article in Texas Monthly that was absolutely scathing in their review of the community of Channelview as a whole which was tabloid journalism and embroidery at it's best. I'm not from Channelview but just thought TM's writing as a tragic deconstruction of their town's history. Wanda Holloway was despicable which was everyone's opinion once the evidence was released. But to paint the whole town with that brush was also unfair and exploitive by that writer. Never have cared for TM's publication since and certainly would not pay money for that nonsense.

Sorry but I lived there when this story came out and unless you did you wouldn;t know how bad Channelview / ChannelDump really is. My kids went to school with both the young girls. Wanda was a witch from hell. Verna was a very sweet lady. The subdivision they lived in was called Stering Green. It was run down even back then for a newly buit place. The schools the stores everything sucked. Glad we moved far away from that hell hole. A few months back I drove around the area. I just thought it was bad back then now it;s nothing but a drug den and illegals run amock
