James Callis is a genius with how he layers in the comedy and makes it real. To my British ears, we can tell what he's doing with his delivery. he was in a different show to everyone else. Certain line delivries were arguably "taking the piss" but it was enfolded in realism eg 'oh my god', and 'how are you leaving?' - The Australian director also knew what James was doing. According to James Callis the director nodded when James asked if it was 'dangerous for the show'. I think what helped Callis is that Edward James Olmos found Callis to be hilarious.

If only that were the case, but unfortunately it's not. No one in the miniseries uses the plural "Gods," whether they're human or Cylon. The writers didn't come up with the distinction between "Gods" and "God" in dialogue or the different human and Cylon religions until the regular series got underway.

Well, some men betray their homelands, unforgivably so, for money and riches.
In the original BSG, Baltar did it, again unforgivably so, for greed and power.
At least this Baltar did it in exchange for sex with an absolute goddess, so I guess we should give him a pass ....

we never, ever got any given comfirmation that the has willingly sold out, nor that he slipped information before the nukes; what part of him being genuinely surprise when confronted by Six did you not get? He was like, "wait, how do you know that?! Who are you?! How many others know about me?!".
If anything, if he did sold out, it was after the nukes, after everything else was devastated, coming to the said agreement of ensuring the survival of others, of humanity... Baltar genuinely has sacrificed a civilian ship to ensure his secret being kept...
Idnk, I just can't make heads or tails of Gaius Baltar!

@@SunnyGabe Well, he apparently gave her access to the Defense Mainframe - which seems to be a major No-No. So even if he didn't know her true motivations, (maybe he thought it would give her "employers" an edge over competitors, etc.) he still willingly allowed himself to be duped by giving her access, and betrayed his people. Him asking her how many others knew about him, who else knew that he was involved, it sure sounded like an admission of guilt on his end (the old 'I knew they were going to rob the store but I didn't think they were going to kill anybody' defense).
As he watches the news feed end abruptly, he even does the confessional "What have I done" in the manner of a man who is witnessing the unintended consequences of his actions. - and he did it all in exchange for some nookie-wookie (which I believe is the medical term for it😉 )

@@jerseykaari I'm really heavily invested in this series and it feels very real as something that could happen, or could've have happened in real life...
If this general view on things about Baltar is true, then why has he reacted so surprised as her knowing his role in the defensive system; he wasn't quite surprised by her revelation of being a cylon, disbelief to a point, but he couldn't deny it completely.
It doesn't actually hold something as all the codes, or just a person working on the most important network and tactics of defensive nature, to be such a big reliability... aware or not, Baltar couldn't have impacted at all anything, nothing that made the cylons gain the upper hand to destroying everything...
From what I believe, this scene actually shows that cylons had developed feelings, the human models, as to Six wanting to save and to continue her relationship with Baltar... what's actually odd about this kind of relationship and being so special, is that it's transcended to a next level of consciousness, we were never told that Baltar had any cylon implants and it doesn't hold at all, as to him being the only one with said visions.
Baltar is quite honestly without blame as to what has transcribed on Earth, but he was holding himself responsible for the evolution of events believing he should've connected the dots and preventing stuff.
With spoiler alert, the attack of Earth was mainly because cylons hated the fact that there existed more advanced models other then them, the final five, or the mythical 12... even if they got to evolve to human traits, trick and copy the ressurection bay, they loathly, mainly Calvin, hated being humans... their agenda doesn't fit the complete destruction of humanity as we were shown Calvin was ok trying a new form of relationship on New Caprica; regarding Calvin, it's also interesting to note that he hold real faith as to believing in God.
The hints of the cycle of repetition display that Starbuck is one successful hybrid, human-cylon in nature, with a said ressuration bay that made possible her come back... this also links with Baltar, since he said himself he saw her as an angel, when in actuality, knowing his demenor as viewing highly of himself as an angel as well, he could've been a hybrid as well...
So the last scene of the series makes a lot more sense if there's a degree of acceptance as for my claims; Baltar being a hybrid without actually knowing, but he could've been one of the mythical 12, and Six that suspected his origins, that wanted a relationship, not holding any grudges as to Gaius being more unique than her; she stated numerous times that Baltar doesn't display humanic traits as opposed to how others should, but in fact, he acts a lot like an unique atonomus cylon...
The disappointment of Baltar is actually him being aware of his role of being a guardian of humanity; him acting all surprised like that in this scene is meant for something else... "how did you know I'm a cylon?! How many others do know?! How are you a cylon Six?! Why couldn't I tell?! Why are you doing all this?! Humans are good, we need to protect them!"
Sorry for being so lengthy, but I wanted to be as thorough as I could and these are my suspicions as to what I actually think happened... Baltar acted from A to Z, as a mediator, trying to prevent catastrophes, came with unique solutions, deep understanding of things and was always wondering upon the reality of things...

This is why I always supported hiring asexuals in the defence sector. People even smart ones often lose it when it comes to sex. No matter how well you train them. Asexuals would be a solution. Unfortunately such an idea is too revolutionary for the eggheads in charge.

The trial was about charges that he surrendered too quickly to the Cylons on New Caprica, and that he collaborated with the Cylons there.
He was found not guilty (which is not the same as innocent) because the prosecution's case was almost entirely emotional, plus a bit of perjury on Gaita's part.
The reality is that Baltar surrendered because he had to, and he collaborated a bit so that he could covertly aid Gaita and the rebels from his puppet presidency. Which he did.
Baltar tried to convince the Cylons to leave the humans alone. He really did not do much wrong once they were on New Caprica. He did many things wrong earlier (giving access to the defense mainframe being the biggest one - but also, his original unwise decision to colonize New Caprica), but once the Cylons arrived, I can't think of anything specific to fault him for, other than not bravely dying. Lee got through to enough judges, including his father, to make this general point.
As for the defense mainframe, we don't know who may have suspected it, but the only two humans who actually know it are the scientist (who may or may not actually exist, and who is never seen on-camera) who dies before getting a chance to talk with Roslin, and much later, Roslin herself after Baltar confesses aboard the Cylon baseship while bleeding out. We never see Rolin tell anyone else, or use the information.

No one knew about his role in the destruction of the colonies. The trial was regarding his role actions as president during the ocupation fo New Caprica. The cylons forced him to sign executive orders for imprisonment and death sentences for people suspects of helping the resistance during the occupation.
