Thanks 🙏🏻 it should be good! Only hold back on power would be smaller exhaust the rest of the engine is happy so it should make decent power. With all motor a low hp number is still a quick car.

Good video I hope it makes decent power with the a3 bottom end. Although I wouldn’t have used that head gaskets. Have replaced multiple head gaskets when they use that style gasket. Either OEM or cometic always.

I just went from a 2008 si to a 2004 si and needless to say I've been quite disappointed with the performance of the a3 compared to the z3...but man, what you've done here is awesome I wish I had friends like you around who could help me swap heads to have actual Vtec not this fake vtec it came with.
That vtec crossover sounded good. Engine bay looks alot better too.
Thanks I agree on the bay looking better and the crossover sounds WAY better in person but definitely sounds like a true Vtec now. Just have to get that tune and it will be ready for fun!

I had a question I did a d16y7 swap into a 2000 Honda Civic ex the old motor blew up... but I have Y8 manual intake having trouble getting it to still up on the y7 head I blocked off the air injection ports but I'm still having problems with it not wanting to seal up any advice I appreciate it... I know you used to be in to d series back in the day.. lol thank you.
I'm looking at doing this on a budget. Could I in theory do this head swap and also swap in the stock a2 ECU which would already have the correct tune and save myself money by not buying kpro? I'll probably get kpro down the line anyway but for now would the A2 ECU work in a pinch?

Those were k24z3/z7 rockers. K24a2/k20a2/z1/z3 are the same and will work.

i thought i read somewhere the a3 blocks dont have a oil port for the a2 head ? may of read it wrong it was a while back
i just got a type s rough body and nterior so gonna swap the base i have ,whole engine or just head on the a3 feedback?
thought it was so funny that you were showing the lobes, and saying even the D series has more lobes haha, goes to show the k20a3 was not a great thought after the k20a2... crazy a simple head swap and you can see vtec, i hate that they didnt let us have vtec in the a3, or just a shitty version on vtec

@@ih94568 I'm in CA too and bought an '04 SI EP3 with a K24A2 & it still has the stock K20 ECU. It does smog and runs just ok with no CEL but lacks its full potential. I registered the car in my rural county so until the car is sold, it will not require any future smog testing. That said, I will indeed be doing something soon to control the intake cam & tuning, just not sure exactly what ecu I will end up with. I also want to install a S2000 oil pump, valve springs, and certainly raise rev limit. Not considering a traditional turbo but maybe a bit (6-8lb) of electric boost in the more distant future. The car is my daily driver and will never be raced but on my rural 2 lane country roads I need/want optimum power for 2nd & 3rd gear passing when the opportunity arises. More smiles per mile is my goal.

And also I think you had Hondata to make to work good.
With stock A3 ECU the RBC gear won't work good with A2 cam...

I have a k20z1 currently that I spun a rod bearing on. My buddy is selling me a k20a3 for dirt cheap. I’m wondering if this same process would work for putting the z1 head on the a3
Pretty sure it isn’t as straight forward as this. But I’m decently certain it should be very similar, just a few more extra steps. Definitely look at forums and see how other people have done it.
It's a 2.0 so it should be a direct fit, to my knowledge the issue is when you use the accord and Honda element block on the k20 head since it will have piston to valve contact unless you switch out the piston and rods from a tsx or crv into the block.
I’m new to building cars and it’s become my passion. I have a ep3 hatch and I’m about to buy a a2 block from someone. If I put it on my a3 do I have to replace anything else or tune it afterwards or will it be fine to swap then drive?

Will swappin that k20a3 timing gear prevent on intake side prevent the valve and piston top hittin each other thats what ive read most of the time swapping a2 head on k20a3’s
If you run too much timing yeah but if you stay below like 45 you’ll be fine

Nice build. I like the K series engines. Help educate me. Why did you go for a K20 versus the K24? Was thinking of swapping a K24 into my Miata, but the oil pump conversion and deletion of the balance shaft turned me off. I rode in two swapped cars. Both vibrated like hell. Not any fun.
Most likely reason for keeping the k20 is because it came in the car. The K20 is literally just a destroked K24, and the performance k20's make the same horsepower as the 24's (at higher rpm, and with less total tq).
As for your miata; unless the oil pan must be modified you're more than welcome to keep the stock K24 balance shafts. The oil pump conversion allows you to rev the engine higher without cavitation. The type s or type r K20a/k20a2's come stock with no balance shafts because they both rev higher and the smaller stroke means they impart less vibration on the passengers.
Most of all, if the vibration bothers you then you will have the most success by using near stock stiffness engine mounts.
@Redstonemaster1324 thanks for your response. KMiata's kits to mount the K series engines in an NA or NB Miata require oil pump modifications, oil pump swap, and deletion of the balance shafts. For the racers and rally enthusiasts, engine vibrations are acceptable. If the engine dies, they'll just get another. For the daily user, a K swap into the Miata is unacceptable due to the extreme vibrations. I am looking at up to three other choices. Each has their merits. None results in vibration issues, and one can retain both AC and power steering.
@@johnross8939 I will say I personally have a K20 with no balance shafts in my daily driver and even on stiff mounts the vibration is acceptable. I know some other options for the Miata include the Honda J series and ford ecotecs to name a couple. Certainly depends on your power goals. You may even consider an rb/jz swap if NVH is a major concern

Yes and understandable sorry about that. Complete K20a2 head port and polished, k24a2 cams from a 2008 Acura TSX cams it’s the stock 50 degree cam gear from the k20a3 intake cam.
Brother, it's me again. Was wondering if you think the k20a6 is tunable? Like i know the k20a2 is better. But limited variants are available here in the Philippines. So do you think the k20a6 can be tuned to reach 500-650hp daily driver?
For sure. Just lock the vtec in it. Get oem 3 lobe camshafts, get a second set of single oem exhaust roller rockers on the intake side like the exhaust side. Send it on ethanol or race gas for 500hp. They make rods and pistons for your engine. Maxpeedingrods makes H beam steel rods for the k20a3 which is basically the same as your k20a6. For pistons companies like; nippon, cp, wiseco, arias, JE. Nippon get oem spec k20a2 pistons to raise the compression and hello 500-600hp easy sir.

Hi! I’ve been searching high and low for answers on this (Reddit old forums etc) so
Need answers or advice please gasoline leaking from manifold
I have a 2002 Honda Civic (223,000km, LX, 1.7L)
I have gasoline leaking out of the exhaust manifold does anyone know what the cause could be?
Stuff that was already replaced:
-replaced all 4 spark plugs
-replaced Fuel injector (using codes)
-put on a new manifold (last one had a crack in it)
-Fuel Rail
But it’s still leaking gasoline out my exhaust? Before replacing the list of part above it was
-losing power/misfiring
-white smoke out the tail pipe
-engine vibrating/car vibrating
-sounded like UEL headers on a Subaru
-smelt like burning fuel
All those issues have been resolved minus the gasoline leaking.
I’ve searched high and low and have come across that maybe it’s possible the fuel pressure regulator? But I also resolved that too What do you guys think please help! thanks. :(

I have a spare k20a Eco motor, same thing as the a3. What parts in the bottom end are interchangeable with a a2,z1, or z3 bottom end ?

Hey, I have an EG5 with a euro k20a4 swap. It was mapped (Kpro 4) at 173 hp just with an intake + throttlebody from an S-type Accord and a no-brand ebay header. I'm sure you could squeeze more out of your k20a4 if you bought decent parts.

You can honestly fit a lot of k series parts onto the a3, you can basically swap out everything and make it a k20a2. I believe type s oil pump is good for the a3

The ep3 A3 has a balance shaft oil pump and, the rsx A3 and A2 have the same oil pump. The ep3 has the same intake manifold as the A2. You can also use the a2 pistons on the a3 rods. If you wanna swap a2 rods in, you need an a2 crank. Check out VHB engines. He covers almost everything you can do to the A3 in terms of building.
why a2 head over z3 head ?
Cuz its not as straightforward as a a2 head swap.
Couple ccs ain't worth crazy bucks valve size and angle is great on a2 and bigger cams than type r k24a/2
seems like alot of work when you could just swapped in a k24a2 and call it day or k20/k24 frank
