That machine and software is quite interesting. And you and your wife do really nice quilting. That quilting could be more than a hobby I would say the way quilts sell around here anyway. It is interesting how that when you run into an issue you make a video of it. Good explanation. Just a little side note, we have had real trouble with ground moles this year. I don't really know if they do any harm, I just really don't like to walk around in the garden with all those nasty tunnels. It makes the ground all soft and squishey, yuck yuck. Well we tried putting a radio out there and turn it on all day and all night. They left the garden withing about 3 days or less. When the tunnels are not used they close up quickly I suppose. But, there was another big benefit of the radio noise, the birds have not bothered the tomatoes at all. I believe it is fair to say that only one or possibly two tomatoes got pecked. And I didn't put one aluminum pie plate bird chase out this year. How strange. If you have a bird problem this might work for you too. Have a really good week.
We do a lot of quilting for a charity group at church. The ones in the videos are some of those. That's interesting about the music. I guess they're not music lovers... it will be interesting to see if they get used to it. I'm glad it's working for you. There is nothing more frustrating than having your hard work ruined.
Hi, I’m a quilter and a GIS analyst. When I Learned about the cost of quilting robotics I was floored - how this be??? It’s just X/Y! I was so excited to see your video on using the open source software but now you are using Butler… why?
There were a couple of things. First of all we quilt for a group at our church so we are doing about a hundred quilts a year. Having to adjust the pattern for each individual quilt was too time consuming in Inkscape. Second if you had an issue and had to start in the middle of the row the software I used did not have a "start from here" option and we had to run the row from the beginning trying to stop it just in time. That could have been overcome by using a different software like Mach4 that will let you restart anywhere in the row. The system I had was fine for a few quilts a year but was just not quick enough for the volume we are doing.
