I can't wait to see this, finally something on the screen that doesn't demonise those most vulnerable in society.
just been to see this at screen unseen. bloody hell it was tough trying to hold back the tears, so many heartbreaking moments.
this is my first Ken Loach and i fully intend on watching many more of his.
Very rarely do I get moved by a fictional movie but after watching this last night I consider it the most moving, disturbing and emotionally challenging movie I've personally ever seen. Not only is the acting, the direction and the storyline brilliant but the overall message is clear and regrettably true to life.
we need a revolution! it's disgusting, people who've worked all their lives and find thenselves out of work, treated like shit from nobodys at jobcentre when they really need help. absolutely disgusting
jojohackney I used to earn £3,000 a month since I got ill and can't work I'm treated like I should kill myself as though I don't deserve to live
I hope things improve Barbara
Barbara Richards sorry I've just seen this...hope life gets better for you, keep strong
jojohackney one word they don’t want us to use
I cried with Katie in the Food Bank scene. So hauntingly realistic.
It's just the trailer and I'm already tearing up. *THE FEELS*.
ATHIN agreed. The feels are real. Newcastle upon Tyne for life. Whoo whoo!
***** hey yo sexy thing

What a great movie.. Yes, I did cry and yes, we need a revolution!
saw this last night courtesy of Doorway Wiltshire Ltd the charity Drop in Centre. It is an amazing film and shows us the reality of bureaucratic hypocrisy facing those people who find themselves battling the benefits system - an absolute masterpiece
I have a story of inhuman treatment first the job center then the police then the courts all colluded against me because I tried to complain an stand up to these people. While they did to me was abuse And i lost my mind for a while . I'm stronger and have survived their treatment . .but its changed me . the system is corrupt I no longer believe in society the way I did
I signed on the dole in 2015. Then aged 39 and i had paid tax since 16. I had never claimed a benefit in my life. There is only one class in the dole queue and that's 'cattle class'. They denied me job seekers as i had missed two months a year before when i changed jobs. It was a truly soul destroying experience to which i could not face again. I noticed there is no information on suicide prevention in the job centre!. Just another give away that they don't care! A big problem is people 'self cherishing' mind set and lets be honest here! most people only care about themselves. That said reading the comments here a lot off people do care. Were living in dark times people, dark times
two months paying tax
This looks like one that will have me crying like a baby well before the end!
Just watched it and ended in tears
THE SONG IS COMPOSED BY LUDOVICO EINAUDI TITLED "NIGHT". YOU ARE WELCOME
Thank you so much 💖💖💞
this should be shown in schools colleges etc everyone should see this as it's even worse in real life than this film!
Someone said that to me last week. Great film but its worse in real life
Really nice and touching movie,if you wanna know how the system really treats people come to Greece, stories like that due to crisis are everyday life...politicians should be afraid of people like V said
Ken Loach is a living legend
Everyone now and then I think the Daniel Blake actor looks like Roja Dove lol
really love this movie. realife ....makes me cry
I desperately want to see this film
Sadly accurate portrayal of the welfare system.
Brilliant trailer for a brilliant film.
does anyone know the song playing?
Am trapped in this miserable life like theirs on benefits because of my depression and can't see any way out of it.
If your depression is bad enough you can claim ESA and not have to sign on and get a few more quid a week. I was on ESA for 3 years for depression and anxiety but mine was on the extreme end. Didn't leave my parents house in over a year, lost 4 stone, was on multiple medicines and therapists since I was 14. Surprisingly I got my benefit pretty easily but could be different for you depending on how bad your mental health is. Worth giving it a go if you can get a sick not from the doctor as if you don't qualify you'll be put back on universal credit
I am honestly so sorry to hear this Sam. Having suffered with depression myself, I understand how it is such a debilitating illness. Please remember that you are not alone and there's so many people who can understand what you are going through. I really hope that now, a year later, things have got better. I send my love xx
Mooie, eerlijke film (gisterenavond gezien)
Who knows what musik is in the background?
Yes its a powerful moovie ,its an ode to humanism !
If I watch this I’ll just end up going mad
Man...this world can be a mean place to its sick and poor.
I'll watch this one today.
I loved the whole thing. It's 1h40min, felt a bit short.
The working class will win.
That bmw on 1:54 is my friends dads car!!lol
I think some chest compressions to the chest until the ambulance arrived may have helped; don't staff at Courts have trained first aid staff on the premises, that being a requirement for insurance ?
R.I.P.
Siemianowicee Don't post spoilers below the trailer. Have a bit of consideration for people.
Angry Ken loach in great form,
music ????
Ludovico Einaudi - Night.
The Fiscally Challenged and the Furious.
'Can you blink with your eyes?' Yes? Then you can work!
Why not helping (all) people from their intrinsic motivation? Not by repressieve rules, presure and punish.
10 capitalists are against....
Now 38....
This amazing film shows the sad reality of what governments do in different countries.
Who came here after Tichi Rishis speech on welfare reform?
DB - Daniel Blake
DB - Dosser on Benefits
That's the real hidden message here. Another free loading dosser.
Ovprroxz#2019 also
put the sub titles on its joke
My only criticism of this movie is the very last scene, the funeral, which was a bit preachy and sounded like a very rehearsed political statement. It would have been much more powerful if the film had ended abruptly with the death.
Otherwise, this is one of those rare movies where when you come out of the cinema, you just want to turn around, go back inside and see it again -and you dont want to ever see any other film.
This is why my taxes are so high!
Wake up, i'm awake sheeple!!!!
I don't get why people think that justice and fairness is just too expensive in a down economy. Finally a film that shows the real human cost of putting the system before people. We need more films like this.
I never believed the matrix Bahjat. I finally fully awoke a few weeks back. Its painful man. I wanna check out off society. I keep dreaming about the movie the beach.
inteserve 😈
I prefer Straight Outta Compton, media 2k18
This and ladybird ladybird good films but depressing to watch.
And after that you, british, criticize our french health and work rights
Did we? When, where??
Hardly hear that, we are mainly jealous I think
I made a reference to the practice of "french bashing" by your medias. I mean...did you read what the Economist, for example, is always saying about French economy ? Of course, we are not perfect but...If a doctor wrote down that you'e ill in France and that you cannot work, there would be no one saying otherwise in France. And yeah, you can deny it, but your country is very liberal, and many english acquitances do not understand our way of considering the state as a welfare state
Mil IOL Well I wish I lived in France at the moment, but unfortunately we are too ignorant to learn another language so it would be a struggle :(
France has very bad issues now too (like the whole world), even if you learn the language, it would be difficult : there aren't jobs too.. But this movie was a shock for me...the way the people receiving social helps from the state are juged...I mean, it IS, in my conception, the state's duty to support their citizens in difficulty...It may be a subjective point of view...but, come on, what are the taxes for ? The big difference between our two courtries is a ideological one, not really a factual one.
A lifetime of bad choices lead to a bad ending... what a surprise.
You do realise this film is focusing on people who have worked all their life and been made redundant... how have they made bad choices?
Working your whole life and not saving enough to support yourself for at least a couple of years, expecting the government to solve your problems, not learning to use a computer, they all seem bad choices to me. But, hey... hindsight is 20/20 right?
dislike
Quite certainly one of the worst films I've ever seen.
