Like look for example, my mom has beaten me a few times in my life too if I’d done something really bad or curse in front of her or hurt her or something like that. He is in a TV series in the UK where he had to adopt a very distinctive local accent. As you know, wherever you live in the world, actors may do a good enough effort at the accent but if you're from the area, you know. Try as they might they don't get it 'exactly right'. Well he did. No one would know he hadn't been born and bred in Liverpool. It was phenomenal.
It's safe to say Jenna Ortega is by far one of the best young actors out of Hollywood her range is really getting better and better

Are you talking about inappropriate teacher/student dynamics, age differences, or just movies featuring inappropriate relationships in general? To me, this seems like it’s borrowing a little from The Hunt (super good movie) in that the man is innocent. But these kinds of movies are definitely out there. Starling Girl is one that just came out this year. Then you’ve got movies like Stoker, Palm Trees and Powerlines, The Deep End, The Blue Car, Fish Tank, etc.. This isn’t a genre that’s necessarily gone away. But I guess the pulpy, A List Celeb type of movie hasn’t been made in a while. This looks like it could be this generations Crush.
I miss the 90s movies… still watch some time to time.
Jenna never fails in movies. She always has new surprises in her acting. Going to love this film, and definitely will watch it in the theatres.

Just finished watching this and I can say it's one of the best films that I've seen in a good while. Reminds me of OLD movie making / cruel intention vibes,the talent and the chemistry is fire.
I think there needs to be a sequel. I wasn't a Martin Freeman fan before this but that's changed now. Not only have I a crush on him but I now need to binge watch his others projects! This man does not get enough credit.

Yeah? The first season is my favorite one and played through it multiple times since it first launched. I don't recall hearing that song, but maybe because it was sung in a way that fits the tone/atmosphere the game has.

Miller's Girl is a tense, thought-provoking thriller. The performances are incredible, and the blurring of lines between teacher and student will stick with you long after the credits roll. A must-see for fans of nuanced, character-driven dramas.

Looking at some of the comments we should totally give up on having any kind of gender equality, a fair amount are grossed out by the age difference yet Anne Hathaway is in a movie where her character has a thing with a young man and they have a age gap as well, but everyone is praising her and quoting a line stating she's not too old for him, I know both these movies are different in genres and tone, but still it's clear which one is more acceptable regardless of both being fictional and part of the story.

@@joyg95I’m gonna be 100% I watch most of Jenna’s films because either I didn’t even know she was in the film (since she’s usually the side character) or because let’s be honest she’s attractive. As an actress her best role was the fallout since she was actually the main focus. I’ve haven’t seen all her performances like American carnage or you but just from the trailers/by word of mouth she plays a bratty teenager. Most her performances don’t get to show her range at all it’s always the teenager or the mysterious girl. Which whoever her agent is needs to get her better roles. I think this movie will help show her range but we’ll have to wait to find out I still think she’s a good actress and studios will keep casting her since she’s very popular with audiences but she’s still no Natalie Portman or anything like that she’s still only 21 tho so she’ll be fine and keep growing

I haven't watched the movie yet but the trailer alone is giving me 90s/early 2000 vibes.! I was just complaining there aren't any good shows, or movies anymore so I hope this exceeds all my expectations. Martin Freeman is such a talented actor and he does not get the recognition he deserves. If anybody hasn't already, give the UK version of the office a go- comedy gold.

@@drwho9319 it's not a clear cut of someone being a villain per se, but the movie explores inappropriate relationship between teacher and student and acknowledges the power imbalance between them, and the repercussions it has on his life. Ortega is not a villain but she doesn't see herself as a victim either. It's not an evil teacher who takes advantage of a naive student not it's evil student who seduces a nice teacher, but it is pretty clear who is the adult that should have drawn the line.
Nothing wrong with teacher-student relationships if they are adults.

Yeah, I hope the movie is more than what the trailer is giving us. I think Jenna Ortega usually acts in pretty independent character roles, so hopefully it subverts our expectations.
didnt watch the movie but from the trailer it seems that she does try to seduce him and when he rejects her, she reports him and tries to ruin his life. And in movie we either follow from his perspective that he rejected her but turns out he took advantage of her and they did have an affair, or another possibility is that we see from her perspective that they did have an affair but turns out she made it up or is insane and imagined everything happening.
Martin Freeman is an amazing actor, and like Hugh Laurie, in anything he's attached to.

Absolutely mind blowing movie,the storyline is a bit different I know and I think that's why people aren't getting the humour of the movie,there's nothing wrong I see in Mr.Miller and Cairo even before the affair,they had a decent teacher and student relationship,a thing I noticed is that Cairo's friend said-"Make him love you,It's like he's been living in grayscale and you're the first thing he's ever seen in colour."I think these words influenced cairo a bit,and she eventually fell into a trap of her friend's words.But other than that,the movie is beautiful ❤❤❤
I can't say I'd imagined Martin Freeman and Jenna Ortega as romantic/sexual interests but here we are... 😅

I attended the world premiere of this movie at the Palm Springs International Film Festival with Jenna and her family in attendance. It was a surreal moment. Jenna never fails to amaze me or the mass audience. Her aura on screen is truly incredible and impactful. How blessed am I to meet her and watch her movie with her. Truly ICONIC! She killed this role and all of the acting from the ensemble cast is phenomenal. My favorite takeaway from the movie: “If it’s not controversial, it’s not interesting.” My rating. 5 STARS. I highly recommend checking it out.

Digression alert. Forming a list in my head of all the not-controversial things I find interesting. Honesty, birds, etymology, prime numbers, friendship, steel manning, curiosity, wood, peaks, rivers. I think the better point is to be courageous in your curiosity, and not shrink from controversy or ridicule or unfamiliarity.

This was a fantastic film, I’m glad I was born in the early 90’s because this film would make no sense to anyone born after 1995. Pure nostalgia for a time that did exist. All the characters played their roles almost too well it was haunting.
Martin Freeman is just incredible. He’s has played such an array of characters and this accent !! amazing.
The last two actors I ever would’ve thought would share the screen.
Jenna is hauntingly stunning, and Martin Freeman can literally play anything.
