  • Hartsfield-Jackson Airport initiated a temporary suspension of air operations to facilitate the expansion of Concourse D, its smallest and narrowest concourse. The expansion process necessitated the transportation of a 30-foot by 170-foot structure along a distance of slightly over one mile of airport runways. This structure is intended to augment Concourse D, widening the 44-year-old facility from 60 to 90 feet. To accomplish this, construction crews will fabricate fifteen structures at a modular yard located just north of Hartsfield-Jackson's 5th runway. These sizable structures will be hoisted onto wheels and sequentially relocated into position. This undertaking will unfold on Wednesday mornings over the ensuing months, allowing passengers to navigate the existing Concourse D and board their flights with minimal disruption.
