Did 4 sets this time instead of 3! Rested 2 minutes between tri sets! This really works dude! Crazy burn in those forearms! Thank you for this productive video! GOD BLESS!!
Added bonus: Reverse curls and hammer curls will improve your strength in arm wrestling. I use a triceps bar to do my hammer curls. The closer grip seems to isolate my outer arm. A good variation on reverse curls is using the cable machine. I find it's easier to control the concentric part of the exercise. Thanks, mountaindog, your videos help me greatly.
This is good. But the best forearm training I have ever seen comes from competitive armwrestlers They have special and unique exercises for forearm growth, even unique tweaks on curls and things like that to help grow massive forearms A quick RUclips search will reveal many of their techniques. Helped me I'm sure it will help anybody else Thanks for the videos John loving them
Don't know why I never thought of doing forearms in a circuit like this, always use to break them into separate exercises, didn't have grips but did an iso hold with heavier dumbells, worked great, thanks for the videos
I'm a new subscriber and I must say that I have watched many of your videos. It's refreshing to listen to no nonsense tips and advice from a down to earth person like yourself. I'm 52 and do the best I can in terms of training and eating. Supplements are still a confusing and frustrating area when there is so much crap on the market.
Glad I cam across this video as I was looking for some new forearm exercises. I do the normal ones, but wanted something different. Just got my Griopforce today, so I'm looking forward to trying this out tonight.
Hanging from rope is fantastic as well. It helps engage the muscles around the thumb tremendously. Start at 1.5 inch rope and after you've reached 1 minute holding, move to 2 inch rope. After that, work on 1 arm holds.
Hopefully these help my stick arms grow, out of everything on my body my fore arms are the thing that I'm most self conscious about. You have a new Subscriber!
Still watching your videos and learning from you John… I miss watching your new content but at least your channel has a plethora of great educational content. RIP and you’re missed greatly John 💪
Thanks so much for being such a great guy and sharing all this wonderful techniques. I am at the beginning of my body building journey thanks to you. Much love, Rest in glory.
You can also try doing heavy overhand drag curl/rows. Leaning ever so slightly forward and just drag the barbell up your body with overhand grip. It's like a drag curl but also feels a bit like a row.
this was how i got my forearms to bloat up , and i added in a wrist roller exercise in at the end with this using a workout band on the end of a bench press bar ✝️🌞💪🏽💯💯💯💯💯.
Dead hangs from a bar for as long as possible is great for grip and forearm strength, and hanging from one hand is brutal, heavy farmer's carries with dumbbells or kettlebells are also brilliant
Thanks for the advice. Ever since dealing with brachial plexopathy/thoracic outlet problems from an injury at work, followed by chronic lyme disease, I've had to work really hard to bounce back from muscle atrophy. The forearms and grip strength have been more difficult to address than anything. I was originally trying regular farmer's walks, which would definitely get my forearms burning, but I think that exercise causes too much STRETCHING of the forearm muscles, and not enough contracting. I would feel the burn, but never growth.
Mad Lad Is it really excuses tho? I know guys that are fucking huge and lean, work their forearms and calves 3-4 times a week and they’re still out of proportion with the rest of their bodies. If you read enough into it, you’ll see that it IS mainly genetics and to do with muscle belly and tendon lengths.
@@tigerbeatfilms2943 of course, everything is genetics, but you know why those guys don't get thick forearms? Not cuz of bad genetics. Cuz they're either not training it hard enough or got the wrong exercises. Have you seen a pro armwrestler (even the normal ones) with thin forearms? Now don't tell me that they ALL have good genetics...
Mad Lad interesting. Not trying to make an argument but I pounded mine and my calves, I put over 200 hours into calf training, to the point where I could barely walk the next day and I saw little to no growth and same goes for my forearms. I also noticed a few of the top arm wrestlers with long arms also don’t have very big forearms.
Welsh Dragon obviously not but when you go thumbless your flexors and extensors have to work harder which allows for a better contraction in the brachialradialis and for a better forearm workout all around.
I've been doing wrist curls for forearms forever. I just did this workout today. After the 4th set I had to struggle to lift my water bottle to my mouth. Will be doing this twice per week from now on.
I had a pulmonary embolism. When I got out of the hospital I figured I better get in shape so I searched RUclips for some weightlifting how-to information. I came across these mountaindog videos and followed along. I had no idea until recently that John passed away....from a pulmonary embolism no less. Jesus Christ.
awsome video...next workout i will try this...one point guys on the first exercise if you can do partials but in the top range of motion (like 21`s) there is some scientific evidence(jeff nipard did a video about that) that the top range of motion partials work the best that phil heath chunk bracioradialis or whatever its called
I should get those grip force things, I workout at home doing about 2 hours of forearm work with reverse wrist curls, wrist curls, wrist rotation work, farmer holds, and plate pinch holds, I gain some forearm size. I do this 3 times a week
Great video, John! Some say to keep your thumbs alongside your fingers to pinpoint the forearms, and others, like you, don't. Your forearms look great, so it got me wondering.
Thank God I found this channel, no one really thinks about the long term injuries of lifting. This guy is amazing with his wisdom, I'm 22 I don't want bad knees, and joints when I reach 60+ still hitting the gym.
