Just to be clear: the boat had already been on the water for 2 days before it sank, including spending the whole night after day 1 in the water tied to the dock with no problems. The plug I used was one of those cheap flip-tab plugs which somehow came loose while we were beached playing at a sandbar on day 2. The bilge pumps were working but one of them blew a fuse that I wasn’t aware so when I opened the ballast tanks to bring on an extra 5000lbs of water to make our surf wave…the combination of the water in the hull that the bilge wasn’t pumping out, the full ballast tanks, and rough waves in the channel was just enough to overload the boat and it sank within 30 seconds of us realizing the problem. There’s not much you can do in that situation in the middle of the channel surrounded by 500ft cliff walls. My family was perfectly prepared and everyone was safe.
Crap happens, the more expensive the toys the bigger the crap. So, did you say that it’s going back to the factory for a redo? I would assume the insurance company would own it now unless you get paid to do the recovery and are buying it as scrap with a rebuilt title? None of our business just wondering if we will see it again? Thank you for all the time you put in the channel.

After what happened with his family and the board sinking so fast, I was really disappointed to see all of those guys WITHOUT lifejackets when I watched on AWP's video. Watching just to see from their aspect but disappointed all the same. On another hand I told my husband you jinxed it Jared, as soon as you said it would be an easy pick it was a done deal! lol.
It’s cool to see the Adventures with Purpose guys in a situation where they can show that they’re having fun and laugh. Usually it’s heavy situations so it’s not appropriate to show smiling and laughing. Both channels are so good, very cool to see them come together again.
I think it a shame that this ass clown took adventures with a purpose away from helping people just to salvage the boat dave sank on purpose for views. If you really watch these videos its only about DAVE. You see very little content and a LOT of dave talking about himself. He reminds me of Dan Bilzerian, a complete fake who just wants attention.

This happens so often I don't know why especially for an expensive boat like that they dont have an electric valve gate that shuts automatically when the engine starts as a secondary safety for the drain plug. It's easy to forget or maybe not tight enough I've done it myself.

I work at SafeBoats and was part of the team on the construction side of these riverine patrol boats so I definitely know them from laying the hull plates all the way to the final finish welding side of the vessel. Going out on sea trials was a blast and will never forget, such an awesome boat!!
Definitely the right boat for pulling that waterlogged Pavati up onto plane. I'd refurbish the Pavati, sell it, and keep the RPB. That thing is a beast.

Hard to believe, all that prep and equipment, none thought to bring an air compressor. Even a standard compressor could provide enough air to fill air bags and not use to breathe. Glad it all worked out and enjoyed watching the adventure.
as a welder myself, we all are the same lol i build drift car parts for my buddies from time to time and i get geeked when they hold up wall taps and stuff
Adventures With Purpose is awesome! Not only do they clean up out waters by removing abandoned cars, but they've also recovered dozens of people who have passed under water! They've even made recoveries that law enforcement missed!
FYI for those that don't know, in heavy Ds case it was probably to late with the balists full of water but if you can get the boat moving and up on plane the water will start to drain out of a unplugged drain hole. A useful trick if your bilge pump stops working and you have access to the plug after your moving pull it out drain it then put it back In while on plane.
Used that trick quite a few times myself. Learned it as a teenager playing around in aluminum boats on the river. We would knock cracks in the welds jumping logs and stuff to get back in the swamps. Gorilla tape is the bomb for those cracks by the way, buddy of mine used it on his boat a few years ago and its still holding

@Heroinsniffer4life a storm no one saw coming just came out of nowhere . he was out fishing on a boat at lions ferry in the washtucna Washington area and it capsized their fishing boat. Lesson is always wear your life jacket he was not and the others wernt either. The currents were strong and one thing led to another. The hard part was searching for a night during a down pour looking for him in hopes he was just hurt somewhere to watch a dive team having to find him he was a great guy soo young he had so much ahead of him. My grandfather owns a boat company and he forgot to put the plug in and the day after we put it in the dock it was at the bottom of the lake!! This plug situation is easy to forget for sure!!!
D. When I did light duty towing, I had a anchor specific for beach recovery. You push it in the sand by hand and then hooked a line to it to anchor your truck or have a different angle. But as you put more tension on the beach anchor the deeper it dug in the sand. Super effective and well worth to have on hand.

As an avid life long boater I’m so glad you require your kids to wear life jackets at all times, I see all too many people with young kids without their pfd’s on. Things happen so fast on the water there’s many times when there is no time to get them out from under seats or bins. If your a parent you need to be smart and prepare for the worst, it’s not worth your kids lives!!
My rule is if you are moving you better have your lifejacket for the kids. I also wear mine if we get up on plane or are moving fast. I also have a waterproof radio and signalling stuff with me. We only go on river and a few trips up to Lake Superior.
My rule is.. if your on my boat your in a life jacket. Period! Too many times we’ve seen search and rescue looking for someone under the water. I tell the kids all the time, Its not like a pool. I can’t see you under the water. I’m not going through that! They can deal with a farmer’s tan.

Lake Powell no joke! Ice had my few adventures on this lake all a little crazy! The craziest is my 16ft. Bass boat stealing and one of the big wind storms coming in and making some huge waves and sinking my boat so i thought in middle of channel! With all wife and mine camping gear and life jackets that we stored in a bag location that were unable to get to before boat went down! Neighboring boat came to our rescue! Well went on our house boat trip thinking i just lost my boat and everything. Came back one week later and Found it!! Someone had found and beached it! THANK YOU STRANGER !

@@onojRX3 For one, it's illegal to sink a boat on purpose. Do you think new boats can't sink? The plugs go on the outside of the boat, it's underwater. I've had one come out while I was in the sound. If I would have had a bilge pump go down like they did, mine would have went down. It can happen in seconds.

I had this almost happen to my 2006 Mastercraft x45. I had it serviced and they didn't tighten the back drain plug and it came out while wakeboarding and tubing. Didn't realize the boat was sinking until I pulled into Las Vegas boat harbor and opened the storage area and saw everything floating. Thankfully the marina had extra pumps to pump out the water until we could pull it. We stuffed some socks in the hole till then.

@@ceisarsrepair7958 To be precise, it sank because the hull drain plug got pulled out, the ballast tanks took on water to lower the rear of the boat for skiing, the bilge pump got overloaded and quit, and down she went. The Ford engine didn't have anything to do with it. No reason to downgrade performance with a General Motors engine, and as for electric - water and electricity don't get along very well.

A boat this size and cost should have automatic bilge pumps AND bilge water level alarms. Letting water in for an hour or two before noticing the boat is settling is not a good thing.

Hey my 3 sons, couple of their kids and friends were down there bass fishing ( 2 of those other boats you saw... bass fishing ) when you were recovering your boat on Powell. They talked to you. Keep up the adventures!!
99% sure that boat is headed for salvage....a LOT of stuff in a boat like that that's gonna be wrecked by 2 days at that depth, a ton of labor to clean and fix it all...cost to fix will eclipse cost to replace pretty quickly.
@@mikesmith8589 @Mike Smith That's not the kind of boat that you just let sit out in the sun for a few days to dry out and go, it's not gonna be $100/hour techs working on it, nor are the parts coming from some place like West Marine, lol. That's all hand crafted stuff in that boat... Labor costs alone are doing to be stupid expensive. About the only thing in it that can be reused is the hull and top cap, and it will need to be completely stripped down and rebuilt. I just don't see it being cost effective to do that amount of work to repair vs replace.
@@ericnoney3770 I totally see your point. The hull alone is a huge part of the value of the boat. Electronics and pumps can easily be replaced, and the engine gone through/rebuilt. Lots of labor yes, but definately cheaper than a new boat.
Using the boat's nose racks, i'd build an gantry crane (like) attachment with an extra flotation tank some 2~3 meters ahead. This would be a bolt on deal that would allow you basically lift an item almost clean out of the water, where it's almost neutral and then re-rig such that in the case of a boat, it's pointing the right way and easy to transport (or a car, back on its wheels and so on) and bring to a place where you can tow it out. You could use another small aluminium boat, weld the top of that boat shut, fill it with close cell foam and build off it. The span between them is where you'd have the crane/winch and other attachment points. Could even have something like a platform. If you find a cheapy alu boat, it would work super easy and because it's a former boat, it wouldn't upset the hydrodynamics of the whole affair that much.
Next time put some rollers under it when you get it to shore. round wooden post would work well and be fairly cheap but they may float up anything round. Put the air bags underneath if possible lifting up. Maybe a large one just partially inflated would conform to the underside of the boat and help lift and cushion. Just ideas. Instead of anchors drive in some heavy thick rebar stakes at an angle with a sledge or in addition to the anchors.
It's crazy you think by now they would have some type of warning when the plug is not in the hole or when the pumps aren't working. Glad you and your family are safe

I did have an experience when I was 10 years old and I’m not one to be a big believer. I was riding my bike along a highway right on the curb and needed up slipping off the curb and landing completely on my side in to the right lane. After landing on the asphalt I saw an 18 wheeler coming straight at me doing 70 miles and hour. I watch the truck coming at me and saw a bunch of smoke but what looked like wings in the smoke. The truck Bailey stop before hitting me. The man driving the truck got out of the truck freaking out. He kept saying there is no way I should have been able to stop before hitting you and started crying. I was to young to know what distance he was able to go from 70 to 0 but the driver knew it was a miracle.

Nice video and got rescue of the boat. But at @35:00 i have some critic NEVER TOUCH A ROPE WHICH IS BEING WINDED. A steel Rope is not so damger but a Poly Butane Rope which splits in half can rip your body apart.
Tech tip, when burying the anchors. Dig a trench for the line. That way when the weight hits the anchor, the anchor is digging down, not pulling up to the surface against the loose sand. Y'all got er done but thought I share. Good work!!!!

I work at SafeBoats and was part of the team on the construction side of these riverine patrol boats so I definitely know them from laying the hull plates all the way to the final finish welding side of the vessel. Going out on sea trials was a blast and will never forget, such an awesome boat!!

Hard to believe, all that prep and equipment, none thought to bring an air compressor. Even a standard compressor could provide enough air to fill air bags and not use to breathe. Glad it all worked out and enjoyed watching the adventure.

Adventures With Purpose is awesome! Not only do they clean up out waters by removing abandoned cars, but they've also recovered dozens of people who have passed under water! They've even made recoveries that law enforcement missed!
FYI for those that don't know, in heavy Ds case it was probably to late with the balists full of water but if you can get the boat moving and up on plane the water will start to drain out of a unplugged drain hole. A useful trick if your bilge pump stops working and you have access to the plug after your moving pull it out drain it then put it back In while on plane.
Used that trick quite a few times myself. Learned it as a teenager playing around in aluminum boats on the river. We would knock cracks in the welds jumping logs and stuff to get back in the swamps. Gorilla tape is the bomb for those cracks by the way, buddy of mine used it on his boat a few years ago and its still holding

@Heroinsniffer4life a storm no one saw coming just came out of nowhere . he was out fishing on a boat at lions ferry in the washtucna Washington area and it capsized their fishing boat. Lesson is always wear your life jacket he was not and the others wernt either. The currents were strong and one thing led to another. The hard part was searching for a night during a down pour looking for him in hopes he was just hurt somewhere to watch a dive team having to find him he was a great guy soo young he had so much ahead of him. My grandfather owns a boat company and he forgot to put the plug in and the day after we put it in the dock it was at the bottom of the lake!! This plug situation is easy to forget for sure!!!

D. When I did light duty towing, I had a anchor specific for beach recovery. You push it in the sand by hand and then hooked a line to it to anchor your truck or have a different angle. But as you put more tension on the beach anchor the deeper it dug in the sand. Super effective and well worth to have on hand.

As an avid life long boater I’m so glad you require your kids to wear life jackets at all times, I see all too many people with young kids without their pfd’s on. Things happen so fast on the water there’s many times when there is no time to get them out from under seats or bins. If your a parent you need to be smart and prepare for the worst, it’s not worth your kids lives!!
My rule is if you are moving you better have your lifejacket for the kids. I also wear mine if we get up on plane or are moving fast. I also have a waterproof radio and signalling stuff with me. We only go on river and a few trips up to Lake Superior.
My rule is.. if your on my boat your in a life jacket. Period! Too many times we’ve seen search and rescue looking for someone under the water. I tell the kids all the time, Its not like a pool. I can’t see you under the water. I’m not going through that! They can deal with a farmer’s tan.

Nitrogen narcosis is like being drunk and is not dangerous nor is it having air bubbles in the blood stream. That would be the bends. Oxygen toxicity would be another concern depending on air gas mixture and time at 95 ft.

Lake Powell no joke! Ice had my few adventures on this lake all a little crazy! The craziest is my 16ft. Bass boat stealing and one of the big wind storms coming in and making some huge waves and sinking my boat so i thought in middle of channel! With all wife and mine camping gear and life jackets that we stored in a bag location that were unable to get to before boat went down! Neighboring boat came to our rescue! Well went on our house boat trip thinking i just lost my boat and everything. Came back one week later and Found it!! Someone had found and beached it! THANK YOU STRANGER !

@@onojRX3 For one, it's illegal to sink a boat on purpose. Do you think new boats can't sink? The plugs go on the outside of the boat, it's underwater. I've had one come out while I was in the sound. If I would have had a bilge pump go down like they did, mine would have went down. It can happen in seconds.

Ah, I miss Lake Powell. Went there lots in the 80's and 90's. Sure has changed though. Beautiful scenery guys and great job. A little TLC and the Pavarti will be good as new and running. I had this almost happen to my 2006 Mastercraft x45. I had it serviced and they didn't tighten the back drain plug and it came out while wakeboarding and tubing. Didn't realize the boat was sinking until I pulled into Las Vegas boat harbor and opened the storage area and saw everything floating. Thankfully the marina had extra pumps to pump out the water until we could pull it. We stuffed some socks in the hole till then.
Looked up the specs on the Pavati boats. Apparently they are powered by Ford Raptor 6.2 V8 engines, either 450 or 575 HP. Pretty cool stuff.
FORD????? No wonder it sank!!! Throw an LS in there! Better Yet, since the engine's coming out anyways.... Give Elon a ring, he's got that 1,300 hp brushless electric, Instant Thrust, along with his new Sulfur battery that lasts 4 times longer than anything else and takes 10 minutes to recharge. I'm sure he would sponsor you!

@@ceisarsrepair7958 To be precise, it sank because the hull drain plug got pulled out, the ballast tanks took on water to lower the rear of the boat for skiing, the bilge pump got overloaded and quit, and down she went. The Ford engine didn't have anything to do with it. No reason to downgrade performance with a General Motors engine, and as for electric - water and electricity don't get along very well.
Not throwing shade at ford but being a mopar kid, I'd absolutely love to drop in a hellcat !

A boat this size and cost should have automatic bilge pumps AND bilge water level alarms. Letting water in for an hour or two before noticing the boat is settling is not a good thing.

99% sure that boat is headed for salvage....a LOT of stuff in a boat like that that's gonna be wrecked by 2 days at that depth, a ton of labor to clean and fix it all...cost to fix will eclipse cost to replace pretty quickly.

@@mikesmith8589 @Mike Smith That's not the kind of boat that you just let sit out in the sun for a few days to dry out and go, it's not gonna be $100/hour techs working on it, nor are the parts coming from some place like West Marine, lol.
That's all hand crafted stuff in that boat... Labor costs alone are doing to be stupid expensive. About the only thing in it that can be reused is the hull and top cap, and it will need to be completely stripped down and rebuilt.
I just don't see it being cost effective to do that amount of work to repair vs replace.
@@ericnoney3770 I totally see your point. The hull alone is a huge part of the value of the boat. Electronics and pumps can easily be replaced, and the engine gone through/rebuilt. Lots of labor yes, but definately cheaper than a new boat.

Using the boat's nose racks, i'd build an gantry crane (like) attachment with an extra flotation tank some 2~3 meters ahead. This would be a bolt on deal that would allow you basically lift an item almost clean out of the water, where it's almost neutral and then re-rig such that in the case of a boat, it's pointing the right way and easy to transport (or a car, back on its wheels and so on) and bring to a place where you can tow it out. You could use another small aluminium boat, weld the top of that boat shut, fill it with close cell foam and build off it. The span between them is where you'd have the crane/winch and other attachment points. Could even have something like a platform. If you find a cheapy alu boat, it would work super easy and because it's a former boat, it wouldn't upset the hydrodynamics of the whole affair that much.

Next time put some rollers under it when you get it to shore. round wooden post would work well and be fairly cheap but they may float up anything round. Put the air bags underneath if possible lifting up. Maybe a large one just partially inflated would conform to the underside of the boat and help lift and cushion. Just ideas. Instead of anchors drive in some heavy thick rebar stakes at an angle with a sledge or in addition to the anchors.
It's crazy you think by now they would have some type of warning when the plug is not in the hole or when the pumps aren't working. Glad you and your family are safe
When you sit back and take a look what Heavy D is responsible for creating it’s pretty amazing. I mean all the crew there. The paychecks, the equipment, a freaking boat recovery at 95ft down. Some people simply have the gift. And he’s doing all this shit while still kinda young, maybe young? It’s pretty cool, it’s actually really really cool. He and his buddy were put here to have fun and make money, lots of money baby!

I wish I could afford a 400k boat. I wish I could then laugh about sinking my 400k boat. I wish I could then throw hundreds of thousands of dollars towards salvaging my 400k junk boat. I don't know why I watch Heavy Ds vids. He is living a life we all want but will never know.

I did have an experience when I was 10 years old and I’m not one to be a big believer. I was riding my bike along a highway right on the curb and needed up slipping off the curb and landing completely on my side in to the right lane. After landing on the asphalt I saw an 18 wheeler coming straight at me doing 70 miles and hour. I watch the truck coming at me and saw a bunch of smoke but what looked like wings in the smoke. The truck Bailey stop before hitting me. The man driving the truck got out of the truck freaking out. He kept saying there is no way I should have been able to stop before hitting you and started crying. I was to young to know what distance he was able to go from 70 to 0 but the driver knew it was a miracle.

Tech tip, when burying the anchors. Dig a trench for the line. That way when the weight hits the anchor, the anchor is digging down, not pulling up to the surface against the loose sand. Y'all got er done but thought I share. Good work!!!!
