Ironwood is descending into madness but keep this in mind. 1: end of the world (Salem gets relics)vs let’s say 1 million people (guessing at mantles pop) 2: save 1 million people or kill 2 million 3: connecting the world can happen with atlas if it’s moved 3: ironwood has ptsd from vale 4: a group of 19 year olds are saying that a he is doing everything wrong and the judgement he has trusted all his life are wrong 5: he is having to make the decision that can end the world 6: atlas is the most defended kingdom of it can’t defeat Salem do you think vacuo can a barley kept together nation with no government or army can I personally think both parties have a point but logically ironwood does have a point.
He has had a relationship with Glenda Goodwitch and since she has a deep connection with the relic of choice, maby she could help him make the right choice in the end.
I think it’s less ironwood is saying people are wrong in the whole more machine then man line. I think he’s saying it doesn’t matter since he believes it’s necessary.
Tbh I acc believe Ironwood has the right idea, from a logical standpoint, although that could be because I'm a brutal piece of shi-but seriously, if there was a force that I knew was unstoppable and the fate of the world rested on the relics and making sure this force never got them, I would've done what Ironwood did....but much...much earlier...like volume 4 I would've done it immediately 😂

You fail to realize that it's not Ironwood who's trying to fight Salem. It's RWBY while Ironwood wants to retreat, get as many people as he can out of Mantle and get the staff away from Salem. So basically while you shit on Ironwood you're actually shitting on RWBY for the morons they are, especially Blake because apparently they can't trust Ironwood just because he has "good intentions" as she puts it but then doubles down and tells a Hillary Clinton esque vigilante who's been raiding military convoys top secret information on the basis that she thinks that she's "trying to help" yeah Ironwood also wants to help too. There's a saying in the military "Loose lips sink ships" as in don't talk about classified information with anyone you're not allowed to, especially someone like Robyn. If they're willing to tell this to Robyn, what's to say they haven't also told the average Joe and put the tower at risk because of spies. The whole point is to keep the tower a secret so Salem's spies don't catch wind of it and it was working until Blake and Yang stupidly decided to tell Robyn

His plan would've saved more lives than not, in mantle I predict there were about.... 1500-3000 people, if Salem got the relics she'd have access to her goal given the staff of creation is literally the most powerful relic, ironwood's plan ensure she'd never get the relic. Doing so would sacrifice mantle but sacrificing a few thousand to save millions perhaps even a few billion people is the best course of action. Ruby and her team are so short sighted that they didn't think about the long term goal but rather the short term which as you can see from the most recent volume ended up a failure. Honestly Ironwood always told them the truth, went to them for advice and even trusted them when they went behind his back. The fact that they constantly lied to him, kept things from him, and always went behind his back, shows that Ironwood was right all along and RWBY did this to themselves. Ironwood never would've went crazy had they just been honest with him the way he was with them.
You vastly have underestimated mantles population as a proportion of the world. Mantles population is the majority of the kingdom of atlas. Even if we assume that 1. Half of humanity lives outside the kingdoms, 2. Atlas is the smallest kingdom in population and is only 1/6th the population of the kingdoms total. That would still mean leaving about 1/24 people in the world to die. The rest of your arguments read like you watch to many RWBY hate channels and haven't taken the time to analyze the evidence yourself.
9:30 Only Clover died and I wouldn't say that he's a main character because 1. They only showed him in 1 Volume 2. Ace-ops aren't technically main characters.

Ironwood is disillusion in sense he can't see clearly what lay in front of him, even if there another way he can't see here. the song himself represent us to complex of Ironwood, his strong man which never betray you and wont stop form getting his wish.
