- Jonathan Young has created a metal version of some of our favourite Disney villain songs.I was more entertained by this than I imagined I would be. I am inspired to try singing his version of this classic Disney song from the Hunchback of Notre Dame sadly I seriously need some fry scream remedial lessons before i hurt myself.

Oh man this one is a throwback. Thanks for watching Ken!!
Thank you for taking so much of my childhood and giving it such a amazing spin
it is legitimately a great song. I listen to it often.
Always a ton of fun to listen to! You and Caleb totally killed it!
Jonathan your voice is absolute perfection! I adore your metal covers and honestly listen everyday. Thank you for making these versions of the songs, they are so much more accurate to the original story xx
Not gonna lie, this song still gives me chills hearing it, it's some of your and Caleb's best work.
Jonathan singing "Hellfire" is also fantastic. A must listen
I second this!!!
THIRDED! It is now REQUIRED LISTENING!!!
Fourthed(?) IT IS TO THIS DAY MY MOST FAVOURITE COVER OF HIS
FITH'D!!!
Yes
Caleb and Johnathan are like peanut butter and jelly
Which one is the jelly?
More like both crunchy peanut butter but applied in a double layer making the toast extra thick and wholesome
Caleb = Jelly, Jonathan = Peanut Butter ...
...and Peter Hollens = Honey
Johnathan is the peanut butter and Caleb is the jelly, right?
Yep
The Jonathan Young/Caleb Hyles cover of "Deliver Us" from Prince of Egypt is phenomenal
YES!
I love anytime the two sing together. The Other Side is great
Deliver us ! Oh my god yes !
The entire Prince of Egypt album they did together.
Skilled artists, and they have great synergy in their performances.
"go down to the crypt without a flashlight, see how atheist you are" is a crazy line man
That gave me a chuckle and I was like "Yep."
Let me xD I will.
the line of someone who prioritizes feelings over reason.
@@erberlon Exactly.
Like, it's a crypt. There is dead only. Nothing that can do literally anything to me.
I'll just take my phone and watch some true crime podcast while I wait :p
The lack of anything but decomposing bodies does not prove a "god" exists. Just saying.
The impressive thing is that this was before Kaleb started taking vocal lessons. He has improved leaps and bounds sense then because of the lessons he is now taking.
+Firewall Dragon Caleb's vocals were amazing even before he started vocal lessons :) great to see he has come on leaps and bounds though
Wasn't he in choir before ?
@@exlzyor2006 Yep, he was I think :)
"Go down to the crypt without a flashlight, and see how atheist you are." Caught me completely offguard, I'm laughing like an idiot. Subscribed, bells turned on.
Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles are best bois, their vocals both give me chills and ive been listening to them for years. If anything, Jonathan Youngs Disney Villains in its entirety is worth a listen and then some. both of their Covers of Linkin Parks 'Numb' and Breaking the Habit
AND somehow they just KEEP getting better!!!
I love them both!!!
Both of them together are AMAZING! Please listen to their version of “Deliver Us” and “The Plague” from Prince of Egypt!! They’re AMAZING!!!
Me, who has no clue about music study or theory and have no idea what is this man talking about: I will watch anyone who worship Jonathan and Caleb as much as i do
It's really hard to pick out unless you've watched the movie a few times and know the lines, but Frollo isn't having an internal/external monologue with himself or minions at the start. Johnathan is adding in the lines of the gypsies:
(*Baby cries*)
*Hissed whisper from another couple of gypsies* : "Shut him up! We'll be spotted!"
*After Frollo springs the trap* : ( Soldier) "You there!" *Grabs the mother with bundle in her arms* "(Soldier) "What are you hiding?"
Frollo: "Stolen goods, no doubt - take them from her!"
( Clopo) *Hissed* "Sheee raaannnn"
Jonoathan is a little less distorted in the part with the Archbishop, so it's easier to understand it's a dialogue and not a monologue. But I still love the reactions you had to it - it's such a powerful song from him!
Jonathan Young for the next Disney Villain! Dude sure knows how to sound straight up demonic in songs like this. Caleb Hyles for the protagonist, because he's a lovely cinnamon roll.
I hadn't watched Disney's Hunchback in _years_ before I found Jonathan on RUclips. I listened to this song like "wow, he made it much scarier", went to watch the movie again as an adult and was a bit… shocked. For a Disney movie this is quite an opening and the whole movie is just creepy. Frollo basically burns down the city because a woman rejected him. Too real, Disney, too real!
That's a Disney movie that has more appeal for adults than for childrens. Sadly, because of that, it wasn't the huge success it deserved to be.
@@andeolevain it was market in a questionable way, too. You know as a happy adventure.
@@BlackCroft666 Yes, that probably didn't help.
Teaser : hey, those gargoyles seem fun.
Movie opening : Did this woman just broke her neck on those stairs?
A good display of Caleb Hyles' range is his cover of "This Life Is Mine." I highly recommend checking it out.
I will, thanks. I'm a huge fan of Caleb Hyles. Edit: it was incredible! I'm blown away at his range.
I love that his RWBY covers got him onto the soundtrack. Hero is one of my favorite villian songs.
I recommend listening to RWBY as a general rule but Caleb's covers are about the best I've heard
The soundtracks from RWBY are one of the best things about it, and I say this as a day one fan. I disagree with the direction of the writing in recent years; but I can never get enough of the soundtracks.
@@StreetBoyWill Also a day one fan here. RWBY has its ups and downs for sure, and while I still love the show, the music is 100% my favorite part of it. Jeff Williams has yet to put out a song I don't like.
Caleb's voice is so perfect with the growling deep voice of Jonathan, they complete each other very well. A very good song by Caleb : Alastor's Game, and another by Jonathan: Pokemon theme metal version, with THE ORIGINAL SINGER
Killer combos:
Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles
Peter Hollens and Tim Foust
“Go down to the crypt without a flashlight, see how atheist you are.” That about killed me 🤣🤣🤣
I also love his "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid and "In the Dark of the Night" from Anastasia.
And since Poor Unfortunate Souls is one of my all time favorites I would also suggest the VoicePlay Little Mermaid Medley which includes the song (with Geoff as Ursula 😁). Both versions have a very cool high note in it.
If you could react to their version of "Playing with the big boys" from the Prince of Egypt that would be awesome :)
Enjoyed your reaction as usual, keep up the good work! :)
Their whole Prince of Egypt series is amazing
@@andrewwebb6270 True :)
Deliver us as well! So much emotion poured into it!
All of the Prince of Egypt songs are amazing!
Caleb singing When You Believe is fan- bleeping- tastic
Jon and Caleb together are just the perfect duo, they match so well together.
Jonathan takes everything to another level. 👍
+Glob3Troller He really does and it he is awesome for it :D
Love the covers bro.... been following him for 2 years... his recent songs r cool... but hunchback of notre dame are my favorites
From Caleb and Jonathan, playing with the big boys is one of my favorite.
Nobody does a better character voice than Caleb, while still maintaining his excellent singing tone. He's an absolute chameleon that can do any style in any range.
The Dires Irae is in the original song, so it's not something added
So glad you took another look at a Jonathan Young cover! I only discovered him a couple of months ago and binged through a ton of his catalogue. His Disney villain covers are something else. Hellfire is another incredible one by him.
Wait til you hear his Original Songs.
I have some Caleb Hyles recommendations: the other side (from the greatest Showman w/Jonathan), How far I go (from Moana) and Wolf in sheep's clothing (from set it of w/ Jonathan)
Glad to see someone reacting to Jonathan Young, he's legendary. Yes, he plays the instruments too.
That ‘monologue’ bit is taken right from the Disney movie soundtrack. It serves as a prologue to the story; how Quasimodo came to be under Frollo’s (dubious) care at Notre Dame.
You listen to Jonathan Youngs version of Shiny from Moana it's the most menacing version I've ever heard
I've got a particular soft spot for that one because it's the reason I found him and then because of him, Caleb.
Ken, thank you for reacting to another Jonathan Young cover. You asked if he plays all the instruments too and yes Jonathan is a multi-instrumentalist. Though he doesn’t play on all of his songs, I am pretty sure that Jonathan did play guitar on “Bells”. His forté is piano and he is also a very skilled drummer.
If you would like to hear more “catholic church dogma metal” may I suggest another one form “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”? Jonathan’s rendition of “Hellfire”. In addition to the vocals, he did all of the arranging, instruments and production.
Though Jonathan is known for his covers he also has quite a few originals. Until his new original album is released (due out in April), “Alone” (Lee Albrecht -guitar) or “Land of Broken Dreams” (co-vocals w/ Caleb Hyles) would be a good choices for originals.

Caleb's cover of the song The Hero!! from One Punch Man is amazing! And definitely worth a watch! Johnathan Young even has a cover of it was well
This reaction to Jonathan just made my entire day !!🤍
I tell you. Watch "never enough" by Caleb, because it's brilliant.
Yes!! And Chandelier by him too.
Just how you can never watch enough of him :p
@@toolatetothestory I can never get enough of Caleb Hyles.
I got a notification that someone likes my comment while I was listening to Creep covered by Caleb. ☺️
You should react to his Villains album in its entirety, honestly! Don't think there's a weak song on that thing!
as you may have notice.. this video was done a few years back and i still watch it multiple times just love the twist he puts into these... if there is one thing.. Disney should hire Joanthan Young to do there villain music for he kills it.. should really check out hellfire ... and there other callab of Savages from "Pocahontas" but many of his songs are really REALLY good
Caleb knocking out an A5 at the end, holy cow.
@Spencer Jones You should have a listen to the remastered version on Jon's "Villains" album, the high note absolutely pierces. So good.
YES! Now, PLEASE react to Caleb alone, ex his Let it go cover for more Disney.
I recommend reacting to another from this pair. Their cover of 'Deliver Us' from 'The Prince Of Egypt'. In one of the comments below the video. Someone said that while they are not a believer themselves, the Exodus story was the most metal thing he'd ever heard. The story IS pretty epic. Especially if you ARE a believer like myself. Anyway, they sing the whole song *including* the Hebrew part. It sounds really cool.
Jonathan and Caleb are the ultimate combo. Their voices work SO well together!
Thanks for another video about Jon, he's amazing and his songs with Caleb are usually ones of the best
One of their latest collabs was "land of broken dreams", it's original, nice one too
YES! YES! YES! YES!! YES!!!
I got chills just SEEING this notification!!!.
Thanks Kevin!!! Now that you've listened to this, Hellfire is required listening. You liked this, you'll love that. 😈
They did the entire sound track for Prince of Egypt and it was phenomenal! Their versions of Playing with the Big Boys and Deliver Us are SO GOOD!
Do you have to do a reaction of Jonathon and Caleb doing playing with the big boys now from Prince of Egypt. Also, their version of plague from the same movie is amazing. Also, Jonathon did a collaboration with Peter Hollens of the song rains of Castamere from Game of Thrones which is absolutely incredible. You would have a lot of fun listening to all three of those songs.
if you do this one you have to do his hellfire one too
you help me to appreciate HOW Johnathan does what he does. Thank you... and thank you for loving these as much as I do. XD
Check out Caleb's cover of "Let It Go" on his channel. That was the first video of his I saw and have been a fan ever since.
You should listen to their collaboration covers of The Prince of Egypt.
Jonathan Young's Hellfire is my absolute favorite you should check out that one as well.
„Toxic Love“ from Jonathan is also totally a must listen.
+Lord Schnitzel Oh, yeah that is another fab Jonathan Young cover 😊
His version of Hellfire is also freaking genius
I like you Ken. :) You are very genuine, and a wonderfully relatable. Thank you for being so open and sharing. That is what will keep you around and relevant to the rest of us. :)
many kudo's and lots of love.
that last note....CHILLS. EVERY. TIME.
Caleb Hyles has an amazing cover of "Defying Gravity" from the musical Wicked in case you had an interest in exploring Caleb's abilities as a vocalist outside of a duet with his comrade, Jonathan.
I play this song every day and practice my singin to it ^^ Jonathan Young is a great vocalist with such a nice low voice
I swear I listened to this cover bc I randomly found it and them I got interested in the story so I read the ENTIRE BOOK BY VICTOR HUGO. And now I started reading Les Miserables😭😭😭
This cover has dark power
Please please please check out more of Jonathan!!! His music is incredible, Hellfire is insane, please react to that too x
At 3:10 if you have watched The hunchback of Notre Dame before then you know that he's literally reenacting the first scene How the song is actually sung in the movie, where the gypsies are trying to sneak into the City of Paris without being caught, but they are eventually caught by Lord frollo.
This song gave me chills when I first heard it, and it still does, they did awesome work on this. Caleb and Jonathan are two of my fave RUclips singers, another good song is a collab cover they and 3 other singers did for The Wellerman shanty.
Finally! Someone reacts to this! One of my favorites by him, seconded only by Deliver Us (from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack) Please check it out!
I absolutely love every cover they do together. This is probably my favorite they have done to date.
I love these guys performances always! The amount of amazingly talented people on RUclips is always awesome to see.
This song gives us chills every time we watch it. They have such beautiful voices
I’ve been listening to Jonathan Young for the last 2 and a half years and his voice is just incredible and the talent for all the instruments he plays is phenomenal all of his work thus far is amazing
If you want to get to know Caleb better, I would recommend to watch his "Let it go" or "never enough" covers!
I love Jonathon and Caleb!! Jonathon Evermore is A MUST!!!
I just subscribed! I may not know anything you’re talking about, but it’s so good to hear someone who knows that their talking about pointing out how good someone is, especially when I’ve been a fan of them for years! Keep up the good work!
Loving Calebs voice so much!
I'd like to see you react on some 'Van Canto' songs. They have a youtube channel and some live stuff from wacken open air. 'the mission' is one of their first songs and I still enjoy it. Go on with your great vids. Mr. Lavigne you made my home office coffee breaks great again! :)
It never, ever fails to give me goosebumps when listening to this cover when Caleb's beautiful high notes come sailing up under Jonathan's lower register right at the end of the song and shatter through the stratosphere in an echo of the soaring final note of the original song which is a breath-taking high D.
Thanks so much for this. Jonathan is amazing and had a new subscriber thanks to this vid
Just discovered Jonathan Young and through him Calib, astounding range the lads have. So exciting to hear two of my loves of Metal and Disney come together. Bravo lads 💙💙
Glad that you found Jonathan young, he does such wonderful covers
This was always of my favorites that these two did. Caleb and Jonathan make a great pair so I definitely suggest checking out more of those two.
Nice choice of videos to react to! I love both of these guys and their work!
You are such a delight to watch! Bonus for exposure to new music & artists. :)
That was fun to watch!!!! I love it!
Whenever I watch it and it gets to the end. *standing ovation* great work
I can recommend highly checking out another of their collabs, Specifically the covers from Prince of Egypt, playing with the big boys being their best.
You should really check of Jonathan young’s cover of unravel. Dude has such power in that song.
I love that you're checking out some of RUclips's awesome artists!
I love both voices so much!!!! That evil laugh though is amazing!!
I subscribed!
Came here for the Jonathan Young reaction, stayed for your journey in discovering music outside your wheelhouse, currently enjoying every minute of it.
If you're ever in the market for more songs with Caleb Hyles, I have a recommendation for you. He and Jonathan Young have worked together on a lot of projects and their voices are spectacular together (check out their work on Prince of Egypt, they're slowly chewing their way through every song on the album), but he does solo songs as well, and in fact he has done a version of "Hellfire" from the same film that REALLY shows off his talent! I do not KNOW how he holds his notes for as long as he does, but it's incredible.
I'll lift a glass to your continuing path of musical exploration, it's so much fun to see your earnest joy at the remarkable things that human beings have discovered how to do with their voices, and I'm absolutely using you as a source of new music to listen to next to expand my own horizons as well! Here's to all the tomorrows filled with song, and enjoying or at least tolerating one other's differences in taste and style so we can all share our music together.
Here's a question for you: for someone who didn't grow up on more "classical" or "traditional" music, but who's recently started to develop a palate for it, what would you say is the song you would most recommend them to listen to? It could be the song that first hooked you when you realized you wanted music to be your life, or it could be your favorite to perform, or hell- it could be just "everyone who's anyone should know about this one". What's your go-to song that more people should know about, of any style?
Subscribed. Looked like you had a lot of fun and this is a fantastic cover.
Thanks for reacting to this one HELL YES! FINALLY!!!!
They did a great job. I love this song and amoung others.
Two of my favorite cover artists.
Subscribed to you now good sir. A delight to watch and listen to Jonathan and Caleb. You were quite fun to watch as well!
Awesome, thank you!
I've been a huge fan of Caleb Hyles and Jonathan Young for many years now, and I'm always in *awe* of both their vocals every time. Singing in Latin is hard too, amazing talented guys!! 💜💜💜
OH thankyou so much for your insight, this is my very favorite cover from JoYo and Caleb * -*
Oh man, so many have suggested it, but Hellfire is my top favorite, you have to react to that too, as well as Deliver Us and Playing with the Big Boys with Caleb Hyles. Just, all of his performances are incredible, and I would binge a series of you reacting to the rest of his catalog in a heartbeat.
Oh wow, this reaction was awesome, your joy and comments were simply wonderful!
Loving this guy! He is so hyped!
Jon is the ultimate villain voice
Would love to see more reactions of Jonathan and Caleb. I love both of their works lol. Especially when vocal coaches watch em lol. Also if haven't seen more of caleb hyles take my breath away is where I started on him lol. Good stuff.
Literally anything by either of them is an absolute treasure.
These two are gold, whether together or solo. Caleb did covers of the new Frozen songs that are fantastic if you want to hear the high notes. But I will listen to a song if either of them are involved, full stop.
More from Caleb Hyles, should you want to react to it, I'd suggest his cover of "This life is mine" . He's just breathtaking
YESSS!!
You should also check out some of Caleb's solo stuff, like 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked, 'I Just Can't Wait to Be King' from Lion King, etc.
Also, would highly suggest watching 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' to understand the story. It's one of Disney's darkest movies, if not THE darkest Disney movie.
I get goosebumps, every time I listen to Johnathan and Caleb's Notre Dame.
This isn't a villain speaking to minions. Clopin is more the narrator setting up the story. If you want the true villain song of this movie you need Hellfire. I rank it as one of the best Disney villain songs made. Both Jonathan and Peter Hollens have done amazing versions you should check out.
You need to hear hell fire!
My favorite is his cover of "Shiny" from Moana. I listened to it so much that my husband and kids begged for the original, hahaha
