Wow! Has it really been a year since the last episode? That's crazy!
I wanna do this more this year, maybe with some fresh footage if I can be sneaky enough to get some from abandoned places ;3

Yes, my pronunciation was off in the video. I was trying to make out towns and cities that are not native to me. I'm sorry if I mispronounced them, but no need to attack me. It's an honest mistake, I did not do it to offend anyone.
While most of these comments are kind in telling me I need to work on the pronunciation, I've gotten a lot of mean-spirited ones and I've gotten one threat. Please do not threaten me. I don't want to disable comments, but if this continues I will not have any other choice.
Thank you for understanding.
Oh I wasn’t attacking you at all - I thought it was kinda funny actually! The video is really good and informative. You did a great job!
@@LeeAdamsMusic89 Thank you! :)
I still think you did a good job.
Don't worry about online dickheads, they're morons.
@@DanRockProductions I like your vids too.
They should've opened Sega World in the U.S. because it would've been mad popular in there. Ik Sega is also popular in the U.K., but I can't say that it's really all that popular in China and Japan.
EchoPixel that’s what I have always thought and questioned why They never did that as sonic was very very popular in the 90’s sure it was also popular in other parts of the world but it was more in the U.S. P.S: I say sonic because tbh it seems more like Sonic world than Sega world as Sonic was put everywhere in the Sega World branding
WAIT THEY SHOULD HAVE A NINTENDO WORLD
@@RachelAwkward They are. Sega World was just ahead of it's time, (Like the Dreamcast) and will only be appreciated once Nintendo starts doing it.
Rachel Awkward well....look at universal studios. There’s a Nintendo themed place in the works there
Are you kidding? Sega was literally made in Japan, of course it was popular there. Sonic used to be as big as Mario in Japan.
I went to SegaWorld London as a kid, and it was VERY impressive! I can understand why it failed, because it was so ambitious, the cost to maintain it must have been enormous
I used to work here in 97 as a teenager (trocadero). You could see it going downhill within a year. I remember people asking "what's up there" every two seconds then not being impressed when we answered arcade games. Nobody gave a shit after a while. Couple that with how shit the staff were treated it was doomed.
Yeah. Unfortunately the arcade market crashed in the late 90s/early 2000s because of home video game consoles. Arcades were seen as "old". No one wanted to go to arcades anymore because consoles were trendy and more convenient. Why go to an arcade when you have Playstation 2 at home? Many arcades closed down during this time period.
It's funny. Now arcades are seen as "retro cool" , and are making a comeback in the form of barcades.
if only sega world still exist ....i would visit everyday
Same
They are still sega world's, but only in japan
They still exist? They are just located in Japan.
I think your best bet is joypolis since it's basically a sega world, tho it's only located in japan
Holy shit! I live near brighton and looked up its sega world. I went there a couple of times as a child and never knew it was a sega world. For all this time I assumed it was just some arcade. This is awesome!
I'm honestly very jealous xD
I'd love to try and get in the building but it's all boarded up. It's a shame it closed down because it had, what I believe was a really cool burger king attached too it, but it's been such a long time that I can't remember much. Still, it's so weird that I never knew about what this place was. Thanks for making a video on it!
I named my home arcade Sega World^-^
The Sega World Bargate (in Southampton UK) closed with the closing down of the Bargate shopping centre (there's some urban explorer videos of it post closure) and the entire building that contains it was recently torn down. It looks like the land will be used for student flats.
Nocturne Accipitridae I was literally about to comment about this one but you beat me to it.
@@TimeBunny Was sad to see it go, wasted so much of my teenage years in that place. Was a shame when they annexed off part of it to fill it full of slot machines too.
3:13 2000 and nee
o..k....
as someone who went to sega world almost every weekend here in sydney it was one of the best places we had back in the day good times still got my sonic plush
my cousin loved going to SEGA world in the 90's
I'm going to show him this
(I apologize for the overabundance of stock photos and gameplay. It was hard enough trying to track all of these places down, no less find photos of them lmfao)

I did! Left to Rot videos are 100% done by me, using outside sources and images for education :)
MetalSonic420 YT Yeah, I do all of my own research since I don't have like a team or anything :)
segaworld bournemouth was pretty cool and a much smaller arcade stands there to this day which i visit frequently, i’m fairly sure in the back room there’s a giant sonic and tails plastic model which were used in the segaworld.
according to a few people apparently a retro themed arcade should be coming soon. hopefully the sega branding will live on in there
yeah its called retro arcade now. theres also another one somewhere near richmond hill or the richmond gardens shopping centre. i miss sega park, and quasar 2000
Sonic : What did you just do......
Tails : Are you tired of us?......
Knuckles : Hmph... Very pathetic of you.....
Shadow : VERY.... PATHETIC.....
Silver : Now tell me the truth....
Amy : Are we really left here....
Sonic : *TO ROT....*
WHAT CAN I SAY EXCEPT, DELET THIS
Highly unlikely, but it would be awesome if SEGA and Gameworks did a cross promotion thing where SEGA World arcades were opened inside of Gameworks that comprised of Sega arcade machines, merch and stuff. That way they would live on in a smaller way. One can dream...
There was also a park in the Dubai Mall called Sega Republic. It closed in 2017 after Sega's license deal expired. It reopened as a VR park in January 2018.
Nikkcade I was there in 2016
I remember going to that vr Park I didn't know it was a sega Republic
Sega Park Basildon closed in 2006 (not 2005) and is now (I’m not even joking) a large toilet facility. I used to go there every weekend. Mostly Saturdays after swimming, my Nan and grandad would take us there whilst they grabbed lunch just outside.
I live in Basildon and it’s a small rough town. The carpet was actual classic pictures of Sonic. It had current games (depending on what year) such as Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter 3, Tekken Tag/4, the Jurassic Park shooter game (where you had to remember a passcode and shoot the numbers to get inside), Time Crisis, some fishing games, stuff like that. Then you had the prize machines where you can win tickets. Thirdly you had 1p/2p/10p coin machines where you try to win more coins. Lastly you had the gambling machines.
Around 1998-2000 (and maybe later) they had events every Sunday, where you pay £5 admission and you can play on any arcade machine as many times or as long as you want. My mum would sometimes give my brother and I £10 each to get a bus (takes 4-5 mins to get to Sega Park), the admission and a McDonald’s for lunch.
These were wonderful times. My final visit was a day that I decided to not go into college and met my (ex) girlfriend there. I bought an Xbox 360 that morning, and we played House of the Dead. Then we went to see Borat in cinema haha.
I can assume there’s no questions anyone wants to know about this arcade but I’m happy to answer any if you do have any.
Also, you worried about butchering the pronunciation of the Japanese locations and you were fine, mostly. Ironically it was the British locations you pronounced a little off 😅😅
Watching this a year after it was uploaded and on my birthday ☺️
No wonder these parks went under! I’ve lived in the UK all my life as a huge Sega fan and never heard of any of these attractions!!!
I just can't watch this, it makes me so sad ;_;
Scrap Brain jam in background 😆👍 very fitting 👌🔥
sega park bournemouth, as a bournemouth resident i can give you some info on how it was. but the picture you used was actually not sega bournemouth, the one with the floors. bournemouth only had 1 floor. the pic you showed inside was taken in an asian sega park (firstly the 'mouth' in bournemouth isnt pronounced that way, just saying)
inside the sega park, there was a sonic green hill zone themes soft play area, the walls were decorated and painted with the green hill zone backdrop, and the chequered flooring too. there were ramps and obstacles, you could run around like sonic.
outside the play area were more amusements for teens and adults, and even had its own built in burger king restaurant. memories of walking in to sega park and smelling burgers on the grill whilst being hyped up to run around in sonic's world, was amazing.
No way there was one in my home city I've even seen the building
Sega World in London was amazing.
Yeah. Unfortunately the arcade market crashed in the late 90s/early 2000s because of home video game consoles taking over. No one wanted to go to arcades anymore because consoles were trendy and more convenient. Why go to an arcade when you have Playstation 2 at home? That was the line of thinking back then. Many arcades closed down during this time period due to lack of business.
It's funny. Now 15 years later....arcades are seen as "retro cool" by many, and are making a comeback in the form of barcades. Or "retro arcades" where you pay a flat fee (like $20) and all machines are free to play.
Dude, please please please check how to pronounce English place names, I thought it was borderline parody by the end. :D
Also, you missed out the Sega World in Collingdale/Brent Cross, it was in the Yohan Plaza Japanese shopping Mall
Honest mistake! Meant no offense by it. Sorry!
You fucking prick Bundy. Learn how to speak English correctly, your dumb lisp makes you butcher any word you say. Prick.
underrated channel bro the intro is clean
You forgot about SEGA Republic which is now VR PARK
Y do the world hate sega 🤦🏾♂️
Because no one likes quality games I guess.
2:53 yoo this still exists! It’s still a bowling alley and amusement arcade and the pool tables are there too like the video mentioned
I loved going to sega world as a kid, its a shame its been closed now for years, I would love to see it reopen
I live across the road from.sega world Catford. The guy that owned it owned the Brixton one too. It lost its name and replaced the games with slot machines in about 1999. It's still open to this day. It was actually called Sega zone as was the Brixton one.
6:06 Ego
Holy crap, Sega World Takefu is only about 45 minutes from my house!
*Sonic X Intro Theme Plays*
Sega world Tamworth is only 20 minutes away from mine
That 2nd harrow was actually sega park harlow, it got renovated in the early 2000s and currently it has a few shops there, i think its a hair salon.
This harlow one was my home town one.
It lost the license for sega, struggled on as a generic arcade before officially not being able to pay rent and closing afterwards.
Apparently because part of the arcade is blocked off (the right hand corner) there might still be arcade machines hidden back there.
I use to live near the Sega Megaworld in Romford and would visit it any chance I could get when in Romford during the 90s. All I can say was it occupied a space in the top floor (it wasn't very big) of the Debenham's store and had around 20-30 arcade machines in there (going off memory here). I remember playing games like Aliens VS Predator, Alien 3: The Gun, Mortal Kombat 3, Marvel VS Capcom and some others .
By the late 90s it seemed to be reduced in size and by 2000 or 2001 (again, going off what I remember) I went into the Debenham's to see if they had any new machines and the Sega World there was no more. I couple of years later I moved out of the area. I still head down to Romford at least once or twice a year as I have family there and everytime I pass the market place I remember the Sega World and spending hours playing 'Aliens VS Predator' trying to beat that game with my brother.
Big up Tamworth!!!
Damn we lost the fight against millennials in tower hill
I see you attempted hard with this topic. Many of the Sega arcades in the UK were housed in bowling alleys.
Look in the basement of the Niagra Falls sky tower thing, you will be impressed.
Fun Central Bournemouth now has a bowling alley and called Bowl Central
There's three more locations in Indonesia, that not even Sega have in their website. SS Sega Mega World in Plaza Senayabn, Bintaro Plaza, and also Plaza Barito. They are official.
Daytona USA is for real epic gamers
Do dodo Daytona
You shouldve mentioned the sonic and Sally statue from sega world Australia that was found rotting in a junk yard.
5:39 Imafuku lol (Sorry peoples who live there)
To think that there’s so many abandoned Sega Worlds out there waiting to be discovered... We could probably salvage things from them.
Sega world in Birmingham UK, used to be above a Blockbusters but was then empty for years (had signs up for 10 years maybe, never went in was to young then closed sadly) and short time before blockbusters went bankrupt had tanning place put in and after blockbusters building changed to have gym in. One in Tamworth I think is one had bowling alley went to one there five years ago had Namco branding.
Wasn't the Sega World that was above Blockbuster in Erdington?
Yeah Buldings still there @@andy24386
The Sonic and Tails sign in the thumbnail looks really good tbh, I'd buy it
I believe the tower hill location may very well now be Brewdog Tower Hill? :) As the Starbucks on tower hill is tiny and not in a basement location, but the Brewdog bar is massive and is in the basement of an office block
im proud that you tried to pronounce Lidl and Bournemouth 😂
I miss Sega World in Sydney. It got demolished and a massive building was built which is now owned by the Commonwealth Bank Australia.
Segaworld Piccadilly was great
I wanted to visit sega world london years ago when I was like 17 now 21 years later I'm watching this video...
Some of these sega worlds are around where I live
Never heard anyone pronounce Bristol as "Bristow" lol
Since you did Sega, can you do a video about what happened to Namco arcades? Namco used to have "Namco Wonderparks".
Went to the Sydney one once shortly after it opened and remember it being really expensive for what it was, it was awesome but not somewhere you could take a group of kids without breaking the bank.
Here in the us we had Gameworks which was us version of sega world it was pretty close the one in Arizona mills mall I use to go to look close to all the video of sega world and Sega did own half part of game works I remember trying VR, motion simulators and fighting game that you like using motion control back in like 2003. the place was awesome everything was sega pretty much had real 90 future fill to it. sadly it closed a few years back and now is a tilt. also a lot of the game where not us game which made it feel even more like Sega world
In Seattle, we have a place called Gameworks that contain a bar and a bunch of arcades and merchandise, a lot of it contains Sega related content. I wonder if in any shape or form has or was going to be a Sega World-like environment? Either way, it's the closest thing to a Sega World that we do have.
I actually had my 6th birthday in segaworld at the funland establishment in london, it was absolutely amazing! Like imagine heaven but sega themed.
Heck i still have like merch from that place like plushie, wallets, token coins and the birthday invite leaflets you'd get for birthday parties
Was so sad to see that place go
From this amazing futuristic 5 flood wonderland to a 2 floor arcade, only to be completly shut down and turned into a hotel.
Tho the last remaining machines have been relocated to las Vegas arcades in Soho london.
Holy moly sega world in wolverhampton I LIVE IN WOLVERHAMPTON
6:06 you can see the eg and o from sega world
I'd say put the country of origin in front of each entry.
You forgot Sega Repulbic in Dubai UAE.
Unfortunately, they lost the Sega license. And I believe most of the old arcade machines were sold off at auction. Now it's mostly a VR (virtual reality) gaming center.
There used to be one in London, unfortunately I wasn't able to see it due to being born in 1999.
What about the sonic statue in the woods that is a memory for it
Imafuku? Please not me
Where can I find the plushy stories from Sega World Sydney?
the actual first sega world was sega world bornmouth, not london
Now I want Kevin Perjurer to make a video on these
Hearing you say British counties hurts my ears
They should make a new sega world
Saga park Harlow is now a subway/beauty salon and others ☹️
i think sega would still have been successful and popular today if they put more investments into their games and studios and not so much theme parks arcades and entertainment. their games have been seriously lacking the past few years
WOA!!! I GO TO IKEA IN READING!!!! WOW THANKS!! YAYY (IKEA was better than the Sega world) (try the meatballs) (and the breakfast)
Pardon but that ending music is badass, what's it from?
it's ice cap zone re-imagined from tee lopes.
So... Disney quest but with sega games?
1:25 why the heck is there a Nickelodeon logo inside a sega world arcade?
Sequel of the mystery of the sonic statue in the woods of japan
Y E S
I Fortunately Went to Sega World London :-) Was not Disappointed
"Lidy"
Ohh, ouch! It is pronounced ET cetera, not EK cetera. Sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine.
Damn this is actually really sad
music remix at the end? (i know its ice cap)
tee lopes' re-imagined version.
I remember sega world I went when I was like 4
Would’ve been cool if someone bought the park if not the assets and made a mini park. Not a huge sega fan but I like them better than Microsoft and Sony just not Nintendo.i know sega will never be able to bring anything back they do has over 1billion dollars to its name however I know if they made multiple they’d fail and it would be a loop.
So why did they close?
Beyond the obvious, “Sega can’t run them anymore.”
6:06 which one is this? I can’t find anything about it
I believes it's one from Japan. It was close to the Fukushima nuclear disaster so they had to abandon it due to radiation, and nuclear dust particles that contaminated the building. It was later demolished a few years ago.
.
I'M IN THE UK!!!
Sega playdium
Sega sonic
lo u said you never seen or been to an actual sega arcade but have you been to world sports grille or gameworks there both owned by SEGA!
anyone knows what's the name of the game shown at 2:22 ?
I forgot the name, but I think It's a Space Harrier game. One of the later ones in the Harrier franchise that was made for 3D. Either Dreamcast or PS2 IIRC.
Lil bit late but if you still want to know:
Planet Harriers (SEGA Hikaru) - sadly saw never a Consoleport
@@FreaKzero - thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.
3:55 sorry how did you pronounced that?
An intro?
Why do I see bendy in the thumbnail or am I going crazy
Lidi
If sega world was still here Nintendo couldn't nitendont do anything like if u get that reference
What about that one that has that huge hole in it at 6:03
