Kinda skimned over a lot of details to keep this video somewhat concise, but if y'all have any questions specifically about the cabinet, leave them in this comment section and perhaps ill make a followup answering them!
I work at a Dave & Busters in Illinois, my Senior Tech made a custom version with the bottom of the original cabinet out in front, and a big tv and light display further back. no other guitar hero machine like it out there as far as i know
Lotta effort to play a stripped back version of a game that was primarily made for home use, and I admire that. Also definitely the coolest way you could play Lego Rock Band.
A stripped back version of Aspyrs buggy, broken, GH3PC port missing half the songs, but you know? I wouldn't want it any other way! 🤣 Thanks for watching!!
@@DanRockProductionsand the modded version you used (the Mohkerz rip?) is most likely running on the cracked GH3PC executable anyway (IIRC the guy used GH3+). when i built mine i had Clone Hero in mind, and since 2020 i have put a video background to every song avalible. whether that be a music video, live footage, some random guitar player on yt or the offical in game backgrounds. there is so much to do on top of playing the OG games. i have never gotten around to it, but adding lights tied to star power is a huge upgrade for entertainment
@@DanRockProductions Do you remember the name of the big box menu you're using? I'd love to build a custom menu select for my racing cab, but also my guitar hero partycade too :)
If I was smart enough, I’d make a Rock Band arcade game with 2 guitars, 2 basses, 2 drum pad controllers, 2 mics, and just for the heck of it, 2 keyboards. Make it a Battle of the Bands game. I’d call it Rock Band: Battles. But I don’t know anything about video game mechanics.
I remember seeing a Guitar Hero Arcade at a Chuck E Cheese's. Of course it didn't have any of the...shall I say....better songs but the setlist was decent. I mean, Bulls On Parade was on it. After all, it's based on Guitar Hero III. I went to a Round 1, and unfortunately, their Guitar Hero Arcade was out of order. Sucks too because I wanted to play it.
Thanks! I play a ton of YARG in my spare time on PC and was going to include it, but I purposefully leave this mini PC offline, and YARG is still in active development so I skipped it for now. Maybe in the future I'll replace Clone Hero with it tho!
@@DanRockProductions oh yeah I remember yarg needing internet. I just connect it momentarily on my hotspot, but that is a lot of task for an arcade. Do you have all of the GH and RB setlist on that mini pc? Might as well upgrade the storage for more than 1k songs.

Awesome video! I’m glad that me and Wesley got to help you set up your DIY Guitar Hero: Arcade cabinet! PS. I might steal your GHA sign for my room so don’t be too surprised when it’s gone from the cabinet 😈😈
What did you do for the controls before launching the games? I couldn't really see it in the vid, awesome work though! I was debating making a box for my Mom to play rockband whenever she wanted (she was huge into the drums on rockband 1&2)
I set the controller up in Dolphin/CH settings before I assembled the cab. For the Big Box UI, it automatically mapped the up, down and Green Fret for me, and for the buttons on the unit, I used Joy2Key :)
I'm sure you already looked into this but have you considered changing the software to clone hero instead? I find it much better than the OG guitar hero, you can put all songs from all guitar hero/rock band games, and even put whatever videos you want in the background. Even the ones related to the songs if you want that classic GH experience. I have over 100gb of clone hero songs and it's so so great. But your build is awesome regardless. Wouldn't change anything from the outside, really. just the software.
I was actually gonna be upset until you mentioned you put Clone Hero on there 🤣 I was like "Oh man what a waste this could actually be more than just the Arca-- oh..."
Hey man, I happened to stumble upon your channel just because I was searching Sonic Erazor gameplays. To my surprise, your video came up from 11 years ago. I just wanted to inform you whether you have the time to fit in your schedule that a 7th release of Sonic Erazor is coming on September 2024, it will be the biggest update yet, take a look at the announcement trailer from Selbi's channel if you wish to do so. Have a lovely day. :)
@@DanRockProductions Yeah, time goes so quick. I'm proud to be one of the playtesters for the 7th release. I won't leak or spoil anything, let the release happen and the surprises will come.
This is definitely something I've been considering doing myself, especially since I learned about Guitar Hero World Definitive edition. As a side note why didn't you add a second guitar controller to support head to head play? Also what kind of guitar controller did you end up using? I couldn't quite tell from the video.
The machine is a little on the small side, so I didn't really have a ton of room for a second guitar unfortunately. To answer your second question, I'm using an Arduino guitar with mechanical frets from Guitars and Scarves on Etsy for this!
Looks cool! But uh, i gotta warn you. Good luck trying to get two players running on Guitar Hero Arcade. I tried before and i cannot get it to recognize two guitars and others have tried before, its something about how that version of the game was cracked.
Thanks!! It's a custom made Big Box theme I made. It basically just launches the executable files when you select one of the games and press the green fret :)
Super cool project bro, congrats! Can you upload the modified version of GHA your mates did? the original version cracked by MOHKERZ is kinda buggy to use. Also, it is possible to reimplement the coin system on this? In case someone wants to build a coin-op version of GHA
This made me laugh very hard lol I had a tube light just out of frame lighting my face, but I didn't want the reflections to show up in the arcade machines. That's also why I had left the overheads off

It's actually a pretty popular aesthetic nowadays! I'm not saying that just bc they pay me, GamerSupps' entire identity is basically anime boobs on cups lol
I love YARG! But this machine is mostly gonna stay offline so I don't have to deal with Windows updates, and YARG is still in constant development, so sadly it kinda needs an internet connection for now. Maybe in the future I'll replace Clone Hero with it!

Fun fact. In the US, the 3rd prong, usually at the bottom of the plug, is an extra grounding pin. It's not ultimately necessary for the function of the device, hence why those adapters that convert that to a screwhole work, and odds are, unless your house was built within the last 30ish years, it may not be properly grounded anyway! Bend that prong back and forth and itll come out and work in any outlet.
