    I was wondering about using it with stain maybe a gel stain Have you any ideas about this?

    • @spwoodart
      @spwoodart  7 месяцев назад

      Sure, once the stain is cured it will have no issues going over the top. Thanks for watching!

    One last question have you ever applied the halcyon clear coat over an oil based stain?

    • @spwoodart
      @spwoodart  2 года назад

      No problem, I have not used the halcyon over an oil based stain. I have used it over inks and dyes with no issues. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work as long as the oil stain is fully cured. Take care.

    Does it fill in an scratches from sanding epoxy ? Customer wants a high gloss finish for a table I’m working on and I’m putting their logo in the center would you recommend this? Thanks for your time

      Hello, thanks for watching. It’s a great finish over wood and epoxy. I would recommend sanding as smooth as possible for the epoxy, smoother the better. As for a filler, it depends on how many coats you want to apply and how deep the scratches. Also, sheen can have a noticeable difference on blemishes or imperfections. It’s a water based varnish, so you can apply many coats. Hope that helps.

    With the epoxy did you sand it at all before applying the halcyon ? Or can I apply it straight on top of the epoxy without sanding ? And if you did sand it worst grit ? I feel like when ever I sand epoxy for a clear coat I never see the beauty of the colored resin in its original state.

      @spwoodart  2 года назад

      hi, you don’t need to sand the epoxy before applying the halcyon. You don’t need to sand in between the coats either. I would say, if you need to even out the epoxy, or you need to try to fix bubbles, ect., then you would need to sand. If you had to sand, it depends on what issues you have, determine the starting grit. Watch my current video and you can see me sand and polish using the halcyon. Hope that helps.

    I make wooden fishing lures, would this product work for this application?

    • @spwoodart
      @spwoodart  3 года назад +1

      Hello Josh, excellent question. I would absolutely use this in lures. I’m a angler myself but I don’t make my own lures. I would put several coats of the total boat halcyon on and then sand put any lines. Then apply a top coat of choice, like a wax. Thanks for watching. Cheers! -SP

    Do you know if this product is water proof after drying? I'm looking for something to seal the inside of wooden vases. Epoxy could work but kind of pricey for me.

      Hi Gil, excellent question. I’m not sure how water proof it is yet, but I would totally use this on the inside of vases. Total boat uses this marine varnish on ships and boats above the water line. I have see other use it on oars. I would make sure to add several layers so that moister does not get to the wood. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it.
