Goku: Forget the Cell Games. You wanna play DS?
Cell: I thought you'd never ask.
Cell: goku you bitch
Goku: Ha! Haa! Take this!
Cell: Goku you bi-
Goku has a launch fat DS and perfect cell has a DS Lite because it's the perfect nintendo DS
@@DocTIM-VoidLogic For Cell, the phat DS would be the perfect DS since it has better buttons, triggers and dpad, as well as a cartridge slot that lets GBA games sit flush.
@@kingstarscream3807 No; the "perfect" DS for Perfect Cell; would be; of course; the 3DS XXL; or the Switch; obviously. Because the Switch allows Cell to play Dragon Ball FighterZ and DBZ Kakarot; on the go; so he can experience the original story of DBFZ's 3 arcs(Super Warrior Arc; Enemy Warrior Arc; and the Android 21 Arc); and also see how handsome and perfect he looks; and beat the others at his will. Sure; he gets eaten during the Android 21 Arc; but maybe he'll get reincarnated? I'm Sorry Cell? I guess? But he also guest stars in XenoVerse 2 and Jump Force. He's alright in those and very perfect there. But it's Japanese voices only for Force; but Cell would probably still prefer his 3DS or Switch obviously. I don't know why he wouldn't...he can also play online with his friends! And be a lobby character with multiple colors for his character!
I used to play Attack of the Saiyans all the time on road trips/vacations. It is an amazing game that still holds up to this day. Really wish it got a sequel, I feel like it's moment to moment gameplay was even more fun than DBZ Kakarot's.
That teaser with Frieza never getting a follow-up makes me sad.
This is what dbz kakarot should have been really
@@TheAzulmagia I swear! I was so excited when I beat the game and saw that. Keep in mind that was in 2011, so I fully expected a sequel still at that point lol.
its highkey the best dbz rpg ever made kakarot doesnt come close to it or legacy of goku 2
@@viviankong69 Kakarot>LOG,2, BF
It really is a crime that they never continued Attack of the Saiyans. It was easily the best Dragonball DS game and one of the better Dragonball handheld titles. I really would have liked to see what they could have done with the Cell or Buu Sagas.
True
Eh, I thought Origins 2 and Advanced Adventure are the best handheld DB games. Origins 2 is severly underrated. It seems like most of the reasons Gilly didn't like it is because he wasn't a fan of the touchscreen mechanics in origins 1, and those mechanics are not mandatory in Origins 2. Origins 2 has more variety of boss fights, characters, and an amazing soundtrack.
@@jantheking7028 *Advanced* Adventure isn’t DS tho

Ultimate Butoden es el mejor
Not being able to delete save files is something that really bugs the piss out of me. Even though in most games you can start a new game and save over the old file it still bugs me when I can't just delete a save file, but *not being able to even start a new game at all* is just utterly ridiculous.
Yeah, in that case, you need to corrupt it. But how stupid can devs be
I know the 3DS had a contender for that where once you start a save file you can't erase it on a game and that being the infamous Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D which did the same thing, but it was by design to make people buy new copies, a worse version of that $10 online pass that was a thing for awhile.
A lot of indie games on Switch do this. I guess they figure since you can just delete it in your system files that they don't need to include that option within the game.
...It's still dumb.
@@toonzach2870 on Switch it's not that bad but back then it saved to the cartridge and no systemwide options for saves.
@@toonzach2870 But switch games don't save to the game cart, and you can make a new user profile
遥かなる伝説 roughly means "faraway legend". It was titled Harukanaru Goku Densetsu in Japan since it's a spiritual successor to the Goku-den ("Goku Story") series of Famicom RPGs. I assume the Goku was dropped in the US because we never got the Goku-den games, and thus the reference wouldn't land.
I used to play those games in an emulator with fan translations, I used to love them because at that time it was the only DB Rpgs out there
Dragon Ball Origins 1 & 2 are fantastic with tons of extra content.
Makes sense, isometric games are some of what european developers like game republic does best (take knight lore from Rareware in 1982 for ZX spectrum, a very fun but slow isometric game)

Thank you; very much; madam.
I used to be an editor for the Dragon Ball Wiki and I played ALL of these on a shitty DS emulator so I could help contribute to the wiki pages. This video feels like a blast from the past!
Ah, the NO$GBA days....
That's cool.
That must’ve been tedious on both ends lol
Thank u for ur sacrifice. I still Dread the random crashed before I manage to save a game.
The early emulators 😂 crappy music & stuff. Zero or barley any filters
Dragon Ball Origins 2 also has one of the best censorships I've ever seen. When you're in the Yamcha vs Invisible Man fight. It's genuinely so clever.
Oh yeah! I remember how Yamcha beat the Invisible Man! He had Bulma; um; show off something; to give Master Roshi an immense nose bleed; so he could reveal where the Invisible Man was; and so Yamcha could do his awesome Wolf Fang Fist technique; and was the first time he used it against an enemy whom wasn't Goku; because they were friends by then; right? But I remember Master Roshi getting a super immense nose bleed so Yamcha could see where the Invisible Man is. It was hilarious; in both the manga and anime; and they both handle that particular fight differently; and involved Bulma showing off something she shouldn't have; to "help" Yamcha win that fight. But it was still a great fight. But don't underestimate Yamcha! He just needs to work on his skills and personality more. FighterZ says he "retired" a while back; so his skills are rusty. But imagine him training again with Tien; and Krillin... He could be a formidable fighter.
"this videos not gonna come out.. much like my buddy Scott"
😂😂 This is what heard at first, bad place to pause
In Supersonic Warriors 2 apparently you need to corrupt your save file. Go to Options, change any setting, go to Exit, press the Cartridge down, press A to exit and release the Cartridge at the same time to corrupt it.
I remember spending so many hours playing origins 2 and attack of the saiyans during my child hood. Whether at home, traveling or at a relative’s house, the amount of fun I has with these two games lasted me for days and I’d happily play them again with how much they explore with the what if scenarios in origins and inbetweens in attack of the saiyans.

Oh my gosh I'm so glad you talked about Ultimate Budoten!
I played the heck out of it as a kid, and was how I learn how ROM patching worked for the simple translation.
More people genuinely need to play the game with how much the graphics and presentation pushed the DS. A lot of actual voice acting; the 3D hands even would open up with the fingers; those ultimates were amazingly cinematic for the console. It's really a shame more people haven't been able to experience it with how much a technical marvel it is for DS ;v;
By any chance you got the English rom patch?
The thing you mentioned about the save files in supersonic warriors 2 actually is something I experienced recently with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries on 3ds. For some baffling reason (probably an anti used games agenda) capcom made it so you cannot delete a saved game and there's only one save slot as well. When I was searching for a copy to try playing with my friend I got excited because it wasn't very expensive, but after putting it in and having everything unlocked and the stages were a breeze because of it I soon figured out why.
You can delete it by corrupting the save data. Same with supersonic warriors 2.
@@calripkenturner And how do you corrupt it? Sorry for asking; it's just...normally whenever I hear about corrupting my own games; (I just don't like what it could do to the system itself; or even my other games)
Remove the cartridge or power the console off while saving

I still have no idea why Dragon Ball Origins 2 is so underrated in the fandom. Its one of my favorite DB games of all time.

Man. I was happy to hear praise for Dragonball Origins 2, as that game was one of the most important games of my childhood. I played Origins 2 before Origins 1, and while I enjoyed Origins 1 well enough, Origins 2 is definitely the superior game. It’s not the greatest DS game, but god, it’s one that will always hold a special place in my heart, and helped define my love of Dragonball.
I played Origins 1 on a real DS and then a couple years later played origins 2 on an emulator. Origins 2 is definitely the superior one, but both games are fantastic. Origins 2 not only contains amazing gameplay and a wide variety of unlockable skills that actually makes you seem like you are getting stronger as you play, but it has multiple playable characters, unique boss fights, and fun gameplay mechanics.
Super sonic warriors 2 is my favorite dbz handheld game. I still play it and I love it. The team set and ultimate attacks are great and the music!
You can delete the save file in Supersonic Warriors 2. I bought a copy last year because it was supercheap and I've never played it.
When I got it I found that same issue, no way to delete the save file.
At least, no intended way.
You can corrupt the save file and when the save file is corrupted, the game will automatically delete it and refresh your game to factory.
How you do it as you have to interrupt the autosave.
Fastest way to do it is when you leave the settings AFTER changing something, anything.
So you go into the settings, change a setting exit.
There is a frame or two in between exiting and the main menu coming up where you can turn the game off and it will corrupt your save as it is parrway through saving.
It is way harder to perform on the 3DS as the 3DS shuts down slower and saves faster. Also doesnt work if you hit home and close as game still saves in background before you get the chance.
How I got around that was when I went into the settings to change a setting, before I pushed exit, I pushed down on the cartridge to load the spring so when I let go it automatically popped up and disconnected it that way.
That got around the 3DS shut down and loading/saving times.
It took me an hour, so loads of attempts but it works.
I did it on a New 2DSXL. Although what platform is probably irrelevant
Damn 🤔 you found a work around alright 👍🏾
9:48-9:55🤣😂🤣😂 "I, *_did not,_* in fact, have fun, buddy."
I don't know why but this line had me rolling!!
I could've sworn that Super Sonic Warriors 1 also wouldn't let you delete your save file. Bought a used copy years ago and was stuck with the current save file.
Wow Gill dispite seeing you featured in Some call me Johnny videos and enjoy your perspective I never had much of an inclination to watch you content but after this I think I might be a fan. This was extremely well structured and enjoyable to see a chronological of DBZ on the DS. I am looking forward to checking out your back cataloge.
The longer I’ve stuck around this channel, the more I like the content that’s been put out, and I hope it gets some more attention in a way. I’ve known Gilly from SomeCallMeJohnny collabs, but besides him being one of the funniest there, his own content has also just been very steady in quality. Just great when you can chill, lay back and realise you’ve found another comfort channel
Im just happy one of my favorite RUclipsrs is releasing a new video! 🎉🎉🎉
"Harukanaru" basically means distant, or becoming distant. So distant legend I suppose? Also, I can think of one other game that won't allow you to clear your cart: Resident Evil Mercenaries on the 3DS. So get that one digi- oh wait.
Yeah there's a handful of games that do that, though I probably couldn't name them though. Definitely annoying.
Blaze Blue continuum shift or whatever its called. also doesn't let you start over.
Giving a thumbs up, and a comment so hopefully the algorithm gives you more exposure
You're hugely underrated and deserve a larger audience
Not being able to delete your save is a big pet peeve of mine, ill never be able to make a fresh chao garden in sonic advance
In dbz kai the menu changing language happens because at a certain point you unlock a new menu theme that auto equips, only the default one you have at the start is translated, such a shame that game never got a true english patch,
Was playing it just this week actually lol
Sweet, a new Gilly video. And a new Dragon Ball video at that.
6:40 Resident Evil Mercenaries on the 3DS has the EXACT same problem, you can’t delete the save.
So for the boss fights talk in dragon ball origins 2, that have puzzle elements I always refer to them as "Gimmick bosses" where you have to do some sort of in game gimmick to deal more or any damage they can make or break certain feels in the game, but that depends.
Not being able delete game saves on the DS is actually pretty common. Most DS games make it really hard to do this. Like Mario Kart DS, EBA and the Pokemon Games
I never knew 🤔 I never tried to delete a game on it.
I loved Superonic Warriors 2 and Attack of the Sayins soooo much as a kid, thanks for reminding me of those games
Attack of the Saiyans is awesome, getting to level up what would be weak characters in the show, to be more powerful than Goku is so cool. If only my maxed out Tien didn't die in the cutscenes 😅. It'd be really cool if there were alternate story routes where other characters could defeat Vegeta/Nappa instead of just Goku.
For a channel that's up and coming. you have a surprising amount of polish. I think I'll stick around for a bit.
I mean are they really up and coming when they've made videos for a decade at this point?
It's kinda interesting to see the massive jumps in quality between the first and second Legacy of Goku AND Dragon Ball Origins game.
Presumably a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans that covered the Namek arc would've just been AMAZING.
You know what? I agree; would've loved to play a sequel to well; I would've loved to play Attack of The Saiyans; but a sequel about the events of Namek; with of course; the Ginyu Force; Frieza(in all his forms) and maybe a hidden Cyber Frieza boss fight with Super Trunks? Or would that be too short; because it's barely a fight itself! Or just have this game show end with the arrival of Cyber Frieza and Trunks? And Trunks explaining things to the others; or have it end with Goku screaming: "NOOOO!" on Namek; after it explodes? But with Trunks saying that Goku's not dead; but we see Vegeta (and his cool pink shirt; as an upgrade or maybe just as an unlockable outfit?) and the Namekians being given a temporary home with Bulma;
and Goku fights a stupid mist monster on Yardrat; whilst learning Instant Transmission; you know; like what a certain awful DBZ game did; but actually do it right this time? Also; sorry if this was too long. I just love the DB franchise SO much; it was my very first anime/manga; reading the Namek Ark; where Gohan; Krillin; and Bulma ready their ship to go to Namek; was my first time experiencing DB; as a kid.
so weird, i never really dipped my toes into the dragon ball DS games era either even though i love dragon ball. thanks for covering them!
I forgot how much I love you Gil, I won't make that mistake again
Attack of the Saiyans and SSW2 were great games, but I'm sad we never got an actual sequel for Advance adventure
Oh my good THANK YOU for making this video. I could not for the life of me remember the name of Supersonic Warriors 2. I loved that game, and I spent HOURS playing every story mission. My biggest regret is not 100% it. The last story mission I had for a branching path was to survive against Brolly for I think 5 minutes, and I couldn’t do it. I still have nightmares about that haha
I only knew about Buu's Fury on the GBA when I was a kid, but getting to see some DS DB games... I really am interested in scouring eBay for Attack of the Sayians and DB Origins 2.
Interesting games. Despite being obsessed with Dragon Ball since childhood I never played any Dragon Ball games until I was a teen and got Xenoverse 2 which was my first Dragon Ball game.
I used to play the shit out of Supersonic Warriors 2 both alone and with friends at school. Good old times. Loved the gameplay and I think the Soundtrack was absolute fire!
Attack of the Saiyans was such a surprise when I randomly downloaded it for my AceKard as a kid. Way better than it has any right to be, albeit a bit short.
Attack of the Saiyans is great! one of my favorite rpgs honestly. wish it got a sequel
I think the reason why they didn't release Dragon Ball Kai Ultimate Butouden outside of Japan was because of unfortunate timing. It came out the same month the 3DS released in Japan and since the 3DS was coming out in the US a month later (also didn't help that Game Banana's previous DB game, Dragon Ball Origins 2, sold 200,000 units less than it's predecessor), Bandai probably didn't think it was worth it to release the game outside Japan.
Hell yeah, this is the kind of content I live for
Your video on the gba dragon ball games was how i found out about advanced adventure, such a hidden gem, I cant wait for you to talk about fusions for 3ds if you do a video on that console
I used to play db origins all the time as a kid. I look forward to completing it when I get older too because that was a crazy time in my life. It will make me feel like I accomplished something in life. I don't think that came out completely right, but it's holds a special place in my heart.
I shall return for your inevitable 3DS video, goodluck with that one lol!
I never bothered to finish Dragon Ball Origins, but after hearing your opinion on Origins 2, I might be interested again
I'm honestly laughing hard at the Harukanaru segment of this video
Mostly because I've 100% the game when i was younger, but now I have no clue what you're talking about for it; my knowledge of that game is completely gone lmao
I had that card game as a child. It was a lot of fun honestly! The bad thing is that the story ended at the Cell Saga :( but every character (except Gohan iirc) had a very high level superboss at the end of the campaign (basically each character could actually beat Cell but you had to grind to level up a lot)
The cardgame is insanely good.
That one, origins and attack of the saiyans also work well on android emulator.
Welcome back!
A future video I would love to see from you is every rare game after the Microsoft buyout. I'm really curious to see if you'll find any hidden gems.
I remember I used to play dragon ball z harukanaru densetsu all the time on my DS lite and later DSi XL it was my only dragon ball game for the system (keep in mind this was 2007, my dad had just died from diabetes and my mom had to quit her job as a nurse to take care of me and my older sibling Diamond,so we didn't have a lot of money at the time) I managed to have fun with it but it's not the greatest game ever so I can also fully understand if someone doesn't like it, anyways love the video man you're always awesome to watch
I actually love Attack of the Sayains. I would have adored more like it tbh. I didn't know about some of these other games though, I kinda wanna check em out!
I really wish I hadn't missed out on Attack of The Saiyans; still punishing myself for that...because a massive fan of Dragon Ball shouldn't have let an awesome Dragon Ball RPG like that slip by them! And I...stupidly did. And I wish I'd gotten to play Origins 2 and DB Kai: Extreme Butoden; because my 3DS is still in perfect condition; even after 13 years.
Don't know if I've just not noticed it but love the figment!!!! Epcot is my home!!!
DBZ Harukanaru Densetsu is a game that I feel is barely talked about. I definitely enjoyed it as a kid, and revisiting it was pretty nice.
Super Sonic Warriors 2 was always fun for me. I had SSW1 but my uncle had 2 and let me play a hell of a lot
I ordered Ultimate Butoden and it’s a solid DBZ game. It does a good job giving you a light fighting game on the go and the presentation is great plus the customization and What If scenarios. The bookart alone is fantastic!
Harukanaru means "far away" so the game translates to "Goku, legend from far away"
Attack of the Saiyans deserved a sequel. Monolith Soft is in perpetual Xenoblade mode now so that's never gonna happen...
In one of the early chapters of Attack of the Saiyans you can get a third capsule slot by going to Capsule Corp. and talking to Bulma in the lobby
Bulma just gives you a third slot?
This is so many more Dragon Ball games than I thought there were, which admittedly, i thought it was two, maybe
This video was bangin’ 💙
Criminal that Attack of Saiyans never got a sequel
Fun fact: in attack of sayan you can find the 7 dragon balls and unlock broly as secret end boss...
He was a pain in the ass to fight xD
Gonna be honest, i kind prefer the controls for the original supersonic warriors. There were less buttons to work with but that just made the inputs more snappy. To this day it has one of my favorite control layouts of any dragon ball game. Combat is quick and fun, and it feels like I'm playing an actual scene from the show. I played a little bit of the second game and I feel like the gameplay is a bit more sluggish. They added more button inputs because they had more buttons, but i feel like that made the controls less air-tight. You are absolutely not wrong in your assessment.
Actually the opening story in AOTS tells the events that happened with the others while Goku was training with Kami. This is something we never got to see in the DB Manga or Anime. Honestly it’s kinda sad since some of the events would’ve made for a cool mini arc.
Dbz attack of the sayians is amazing I grew up playing it daily. Wish they made a sequel to it
Believe me; when I say that as Dragon Ball fans; we ALL want a sequel to Attack of The Saiyans. Because I missed out on Attack of the Saiyans when it came out...and I still can't believe how dumb that was of me; as a DB fan; and I'm still angry at myself over that; and seeing how awesome it looked; I REALLY want to play it!!! My 3DS still works! So I can play it on that! If it works with my Ace Attorney DS cartridges; then why not Attack of The Saiyans?!? No fair...I'm a devoted and massive DB fan; why'd I miss this amazing game? Well; there's still FighterZ on the Switch though... And that's an awesome game too; and I love playing it. But next time there's a DB/Z/Super RPG; someone give me the memo; please?
now do 3ds :D with db fusions
I loved Dragonball Origins, so now I'm definitely interested in checking out the second one.
i played both super sonic warriors games back to back, and no, 2 plays better, or at least as good, as the first was also pretty floaty
also i remember there being a way to delete save data, but if there's not, there's also not much point to deleting it anyway, since you can freely replay the story mode levels at any point.
Hey GIlly, はるかなる伝説 just means "The Distant Legend". Why didn't they call it that in America? I do not know. Maybe they thought using the romaji sounded "cooler". If you add Goku's name to it I would've titled it "The Far-flung Legend of Goku". Once again, not sure why they didn't go with that. Anyways, fun video overall. Hope that helped in some way.
Attack of The Saiyans was so fun! Too bad we never got a sequel despite the game teasing one..:(
Alas, the game sold poorly.
Tbh with BT4 happening. It's not impossible for this game to get its long awaited sequel. Just highly unlikely
@@markx2231 Oh; I wish we wouldn't have to keep waiting though...because despite being a massive DB fan; I...stupidly missed out on Origins 2 AND Attack of The Saiyan's; but I refuse to miss out on any other DB related games again. Like Kakarot or FighterZ. Which I didn't miss out on. Just missed out on the DLC Fighter Passes for FighterZ! Like Master Roshi; Videl; Baby Vegeta; SSJ 4 Goku/Vegeta; SSJ 4 Gogeta; SSGSS Vegito; Android #17; and like; the movie villains; that's who were in those; right?
RIP akira toriyama man :(
Never heard of that card game, looks like something i will love since i love card battle games
There are four GBA games in the Legacy of Goku series with Legacy of Goku, Legacy of Goku 2, Buu’s Fury, & Dragon Ball GT: Transformation. I’m missing the last two and the only copies I can find are outrageously expensive.
I played a TON of harukanaru densetsu, it was one of my most played and favourite DS games.
Ayo, clearly a fellow metalhead lol lets goo
About the un deletable Save file, Resident Evil Merceneries 3d also did this
I thought the what if scenarios in supersonic warriors 2 was the coolest shit as a kid
The Scott the Woz reference 🤣
Attack of the Saiyans was a legit banger.
Can’t wait till you do all dragon ball games on the switch. Dragon ball heroes is on of my favorite Dragon ball games . also I think there was a bunch for PlayStation vita or it might have bin psp . I forget witch .
Ultimate butoden looks really good to me. Might have to check it out. I like that semi chibi 3d look to the characters.
I loved Harukanaru Densetsu so much as a kid. Same with DB Origins. Never got to play Origins 2 tho
'Puzzle Boss' is the term that I've heard used the most.
Supersonic warriors 2 was the first video game I ever owned. I had no clue what dragon ball was and had never touched a video game in my life. And I played the hell out of that game. Wouldn’t be until years later when I watched the show for the first time.
Dragon Ball Kai on the DS XL is incredible. 🥰
Super Sonic warriors 1 was so fun. Specially the Krillin timeline where he had to defend earth
you should complete dendetsu when you have the time, it gets pretty fun
The lack of save deletion in Supersonic Warriors 2 is probably the result of a misguided attempt at curbing used game sales. Capcom tried to pull the same thing with Mercenaries 3D (they claimed that wasn't why they did it, but that's the only reason that makes any kind of sense). While it ultimately didn't matter all *that* much for Mercenaries 3D because it was made entirely for arcade style score attack, doing it for a game's story mode is ridiculous.
Zoo Keeper is another Nintendo DS game that not allow to erase the save data or start a new game while overwrite the previous one.
Electroplankton does not save at all.
I thought about playing DB Origins 1, but it uses the gimmicky touchscreen so I'll go straight to Origins 2 which starts during the Red Ribbon arc and reaches the end of Dragon Ball.
I've played DBZ AotS and it really is an amazing game, Supersonic Warriors 2 is great too, although I have never played Goku Densetsu but am interested in doing so.
I actually like Touch controls, I don’t know I guess I’m just used to it
