She did an amazing job, this is my favorite song from Funny Girl, but I HATE this musical arrangement in three quarter time. It turns a beautiful jazz ballad into carnival music!
My interpretation is that it represents a moon, there are little lights that look like stars in the background. The blue purple tones I feel set the emotions Fanny feels after all of the sudden news. But I don’t know for sure
No, this is never explained and there is no context in the show for why she's sitting in a big purple circle to sing a song. But it's beautiful and dramatic and definitely draws your eyes to her in the dark as she sings. I don't remember what directly follows this scene, but I assume the real-life reason for the solo song with the giant circle is that they need time to change sets behind the curtain!
She seemed more emotional in this video, when she says “I need more him…more him” she seems to be actually crying. I feel like she rushed through it to compensate.
Her work is superb.
She is flawless and I know I’ve said it 1 billion times but she is definitely better than her predecessor.
