Ms.Carmello, in my opinion is the greatest Broadway belter, comic and dramatic actress since Streisand. She just never had the ONE part that was a hit, the right timing for the Tonys, got the right press that would have catapulted her into the next level. I’ve seen her in many “supporting” roles, she steals every show she is in. She has become a star IN SPITE of not getting that “big lucky part”. THAT is a testament to her talent, it cannot be ignored.
Patrick Deering I agree. I can’t find anyone that sings this anywhere close. All the other performances besides Barbra Judy or their family members are all subpar
What’s crazy is that the video is so good, you forget how even better it is hearing her sing live. If you get the chance in any capacity to see her sing live, GO. The vibrato makes your heart race
I stood on the same stage with Carolee in "Music Man" in Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, N.Y. - just 165 miles from Broadway. Her voice is just as STUNNING and charismatic as it was in her youth. So wonderful to hear her sing just 3 years ago here.
Wow this lady is fantastic. I made my debut on stage in 1994 in North Shore Musical Theatres production of Funny Girl in the role of John stage manager Auckland NZ and always remember this beautiful song 👍
I know he's around When the sky and the ground started ringing. I know that he's near By the thunder i hear in advance. His words, his words alone are the words That can start my heart singing. And his is the only music that makes me dance. He'll sleep and he'll rise In the light of two eyes that adore him. Bore him it might But he won't leave my sight for a glance. In every way, everyday i need less of myself. I need more him. More him. 'cause his is the only music that makes me dance. Bore him it might But he won't leave my sight for a glance. In every way, everyday i need less of myself. And i need more him. More him. 'cause his is the only music that makes me dance. Yes his is the only music that makes me dance.
Just got back from NYC - where I participated in the International Model and Talent Association 2018 competitions. I received five (5**) "Excellence in Acting" Awards and was "Best Male Adult Voice" winner. We competed in "Cold Read**, Monologue**, Improvisation**, On Camera Host**, Commercial Print, Runway, Singing, Theatrical Headshots and a Screen Test**. I also had callbacks with 12 Modeling and Talent Agencies in NYC, Los Angeles and Tampa, Florida. Carolee Carmello...again some day?
Is this from that Leading Ladies concert at Carnegie Hall from quite a few years ago, that was released on cd, and shown on PBS? I don't think this is on the cd,in any case. Or could this be from the Actor's Fund concert with multiple Fanny Brices?
You’d never know from this version that this is a truly beautiful song. Carmello tries to belt her way through it instead of letting the music and lyrics do the work. Sometimes less is more. Check out Judy Garland’s version on RUclips for something that’s really moving.

She is. It is a real shame she didn't get an award for Parade, she absolutely deserved it. The entire show was fantastic, pity it flopped.
She’s just flawless.
She has a voice like Ethel Merman
Her voice is literally nothing like Ethel Merman’s.

She is astonishingly good. One of the great Broadway divas......she should be as well known as the the other household names. There's still time!
I saw her as Mrs. Lovett off-Broadway and it’s probably my favorite live performance I’ve ever seen!
Carolee is amazing and extraordinary..
I just discovered her.
Magnificent Voice.
This song can still make me tear up after so many years, perhaps it always will.

She was Marian the Librarian and I was Harold Hill. I hope to sing with her again soon.
I grew up going to Proctors! Love that old house.
bro her belting is sooooo good

Carolee Carmello is massively underrated!
love her stillness
this women is so amazing.
Imagine singing this song eight times a week in a Broadway show!
With about fifteen other songs. Fanny is Broadway's hardest night's work.
OMG.....Outstanding !!!
Great voice.... very good acting .. and great dress!
Now that’s a song!
Gorgeous
Wow. Like just WOW

is this about you- or what????
It’s a tough song to sing. She did a good job. Laurie Beechman does an amazing job with it. Check it out.
Beechman's version was heartbreaking. I miss her so much. And her comic intro to the song was priceless.

What is this from?! Like...which version of Funny girl?
Its from the original 1964 stage production and was sung by Barbra Streisand but later was cut in the movie and put My Man instead
@Robert Lee, Countertenor i think they meant the production the video is from!
This is the Actors Fund Benefit Concert in 2002. It’s essentially just a staged concert of Funny Girl
strident....shaking....uneven....
..and a bit pitchy.
Whoever disliked this-
Beautiful, Statuesque, was Fanny Brice that operatic?-? VOCALLY, I MEAN
The low notes were not her forte.. in the sound system.
This was a benefit concert with a different performer for each song/scene.
I think this was in Funny Lady after they broke up
No. It was in the Funny Girl broadway original.
Carolee is phenomenal in this, but I'm not a big fan of the orchestration.
Is this from Mamma Mia!?
Natalia Stornello Funny Girl
no it’s from the broadway musical funny girl
the low notes were not there. the vibrato was annoying. u guys give power belters too much credit theres more to singing than just belting
grating
I love the way Barbra sang it...
Way overwrought..
This was kinda ok.
Well, she’s loud.
What she tryin to do, kill us? A great voice trying WAY too hard.
Cuz she messed up on the low notes. So she overcompensated, hit the only notes her voice could hold with the momentum of a bus crash.
