  • After 2 years of use and NOT checking it my Slipper Clutch was loos or defective….
    So I decided to do the REVO Clutch mod on my 4x4 Stampede VXL just like I did on my 4x4x Slash.
    This consist of using Traxxas part
    TRX5352R - H/D Slipper Clutch Rebuild Kit Revo/Maxx Trucks
    TRX5351 - Slipper Pressure Plate/Hub Revo
    I also recommend using a
    TRX6893X Aluminum Bearing Adapter Slash 4X4
    (It’s just better)
    And here is how I did it…

    Thank you my friend another good video i think i may have broken the spring. I have the metal bushing i cant wait till lunch break to figure it out. There is like 1 mm of front to back movement. Think that's fine though. You put out the video and ill watch it over and over going step by step

    Subscribed. I bought a slash vxl 4x4 5000 mah 3 cell lipo yesterday and took it to a fields and had a blast. Cleaned everything up and fired it up in the morning and I had almost 0 torque in my rc. I was bummed out that after just one run I screwed up my new truck. I'm gonna open her up and see if I can do the upgrade. What web do you usually buy your parts?

    I just did this exact upgrade following your guide. The stopping power is intense and the bite one takeoff with a 3cell lipo is crazy. Just a quick question for my own peace of mind. The 2 washers that come with the aluminum pads are left out, correct? I didn't include them as they were still on the table when you showed off the finished slipper.

    • @TheTankRC

      That is correct the 2 washers that come with the aluminum pads are for the NITRO version. I love that upgrade. Keep having fun my friend.

    Thanks for sharing and going into detail on how to perform the mod. Since the video was done in 2017, how is it holding up? I've been seeing/reading where some have use the Traxxas Brake Disc 4964 from the T-Maxx instead of the aluminum pads. Any thoughts on that mod? Thanks again for doing the video.

    After sliding the clutch assembly further up the shaft to clear the rear diff housing, it does not sit perfectly with the drive shaft, the drive shaft can move forward and backwards about an 1/8th of an inch. Does yours do this as well. All parts are the same checked 3 times i have a stampede 4x4 vxl. Please help

    • @gnyger

      I have the same problem and I have the stock slipperclutch. It might wear out the centershaft bearing.
      Did you find a sollution to the problem?

    • @CSL33
      @CSL33 Год назад

      If you guys are referring to having some play in the center driveshaft (connects from slipper clutch to the FRONT differential), it's normal for that shaft to have 3mm to maybe 4mm of play, back and forth.

  • @Oblivion100
    @Oblivion100 5 лет назад +2

    I installed the upgrade yesterday. But i have a little problem. The slipper clutch moves a bit left/right when installed against the gear of the motor.
    Because I used the second pin hole there is a la little bit more space left. How can i fix this? It seems like you did not have any problems with that by only using the upgrade parts.

    • @TheTankRC
      @TheTankRC  5 лет назад

      Sounds like you might have used a wrong part somewhere. I look at mine tonight once I get home. it's all apart right now waiting for new bearings and I'll let you know.

    • @TheTankRC
      @TheTankRC  5 лет назад

      If your gear moves right to left on the pinion of the motor it probably means you have a bad bearing either in your rear differential case or the one attached directly onto the spur gear in the center. You're actually using the exact same spur and pinion than the original one the only thing you change is the clutch so there should not be any loose.

    • @1peanut
      @1peanut 4 года назад

      i have same problem. the spur moves in and out about 1:8 inch. no way to line pinion because to much forward backward slop.

    • @gnyger

      @@TheTankRC I have the same problem and I have the stock slipperclutch. Maybe it can be fixed with a small spring between the slipperclutch and the the rear differential pushing the slipperclutch towards the centershaft bearing?

    • @CSL33
      @CSL33 Год назад

      Get a new motor mount guys! Preferably an aluminum one since the plastic ones distort over time due to heat.
      If you do go metal, make sure to use shorter 12mm screws that go into it from underneath the RC instead of the longer 14mm M4 that are usually stock.

    I constantly snap the plastic drive axles. How are you running paddle tires, with plastic shafts?

    • @TheTankRC
      @TheTankRC  5 лет назад

      Usually just hese in on the throttle going forward and hitting the brakes. You actually break axle when you suddenly take off like crazy or hit the brakes very hard on hard surfaces therefore putting too much torque on the axle.

    • @zevi2000

    • @vanceman99
      @vanceman99 3 года назад

      Ya, I 100% agree with Zevi 2000 ....I was trying to run my Stampede 4x4 on deep sand with paddles and kept snapping the stock axles from the torque demand. The MIP's are just bulletproof. I not only ran them on the sandy beach, but i also ran the paddles in subzero deep snow for a couple months of hard use , including jumping the truck off of a ski jump, lol! Of course, I did a few more upgrades as well.

    Can I ask what exactly does a slipper clutch do???

    • @TheTankRC
      @TheTankRC  7 лет назад +2

      +Donkey Commander to slipper clutch acts like a dampener between the drivetrain and the more. If you did not have this you would strip the gears all the time when you hit the gas real hard it was slipped a little bit and then catch to give you traction. Putting this one on gives you better bite and better stopping power
