Argh, now to do my own with white or dark glaze. 😩 They both look great! I’ve painted the walls lighter, going to put in lighter flooring so I could get away with the dark glaze. But I’m kinda loving the white glaze from your samples.
Nice! I like the black and the white. You will be glad to know I’ve been cerusing like crazy since watching and learning from you. 😃 I’ve been building Christmas presents since I have so many to do. I’ve been using stain and dyes, I can see I need to get and try the glaze. Thank you Wes!

Thanks for another wonderful video. Could you show how to make over dark cherry cabinet? Or keep the cabinet color but make it look good. What would you do?
Wes, Love all your videos, makes me think I can do it too! i want to update my golden oak cabinets in my kitchen. but cerusing them may be overwhelming to the senses. So, I was wondering if you ever did a combination of perhaps cerus frames and filled interior or visa versa and your thoughts on how that might look for say, all the uppers.
I'm totally jumping into the world of cerusing because of your videos! Thanks for making it seem doable 💜 *Have you or anyone following done a white base with a colored glaze, like blue chip?* I want more white with a little color accent. Will probably need to experiment but I don't wanna spend money on another glaze.
I painted my oak bathroom cabinets with white paint several years ago. Am I able to just wire brush them and then glaze with the black or do I need to remove the white paint. I can't remember what kind of paint I used, does this matter? (all I know is that it was a water based paint 2 coats)I am hoping I can just brush them and glaze, or do I have to remove the existing paint?I appreciate your time
I am not sure that just wire brushing will accomplish what you want to do. However, try a test on the backside of the drawer or door face and see what you think. If it doesn't work you may have to start over. Watch for an upcoming video where we will show paint options to help with that issue. Thanks Wes
Hi Lisa and Wes. I’m wondering this same thing. Did you have success? Wes, you mentioned you may have a video on cerusing over pre painted cabinets. Have you done this? Thanks so much.
Great video and very inspiring. Is there a way to get these great results without an air compressor and sprayer? Can the primer and sealer be applied with a brush or applicator? Also, how would you recommend finishing the back side of the cabinet door - I don't imagine The whole process is necessary for the back?
What ML Campbell product did you use for the blue? I have Ben using EU style waterborne PU but I don't like the finished mill thickness. Before I was using AcromaPro Matador but it's a PIA to use.
Hi Keith...we have shown many videos detailing the cerusing process. In most of them, I use ML Campbell tinted primer sealer and ML Campbell furniture glaze because they are my favorite. However, some of our videos show alternative products for the same process. Hope this helps...check them out. Thanks for watching, Wes
Love your channel. Do I need a certain stiffness or type of wire brush to do this and do you know if there’s possibly a tool or attachment that could be used to get the same result? Old joints lol

The last thing on earth anybody wants is cabinets that look like a weekend warrior slapped some paint over them. I (and most) people want it to look as if it came from the factory that way and these don't, they are BETTER. Cerusing looks 100x better than just painting a solid color, 17:30... So even if you wanted a strong medium hue it isn't all in your face as a solid color would be, and looks so much more expensive. Just be sure the final clear coating is durable enough to stand up to grease removing cleaners which will no doubt need to be used time to time.
We’d, I am attempting to do this on my kitchen cabinets but not having great results. Can’t get ML Campbell products anywhere around here. What is the best type of primer. Can I use a “paint/primer” in one? Is it a regular flat type finish? Flat seems to absorb the glaze too much and I tried an eggshell finish paint over primer abc that seals the wood grain and just makes a regular antique finish, which I don’t want. I’m going on 3rd try and am running out of time to get this right!!
Dee Dee...unfortunately we have found that to be the case in some areas. Some of our followers have had success in getting ML Campbell. We are now in the process of experimenting with Home Depot paint products to see if we can get the same effect. Thank you for visiting. Wes
I can not find the ML Campbell glaze products anywhere in my area or online to buy. Can you suggest another brand that works the same and will give the same effects for cerusing as ML Campbell. Pre-cat lacquer is not paint. Actual paint would give it a completely different finish. I'm seeing a few websites that also call it paint. Is it being called paint because of its opacity?
Hi Wes! Question, how do I know how deep I should wire brush? Meaning, can you wire brush too deep? I have done this but I feel like there are a lot of wire grooves that appear is the soft area of the wood now. Did I brush too deep? Thank you so much in advance - I truly enjoy your tutorials. :)
Tracy...I really don't think you can wire brush too much. I have scrubbed very hard on some of my doors and still came out with a great look. But consistency is more important than how deep the wire brushing goes. Thanks for watching. Wes
Wes - your videos are amazing - thank you! I have a question - my golden oak kitchen cabinets were painted about 15 years ago. Can I still ceruse them? If so will I need to remove all of the paint and get down to the wood finish?
Ugg, I wish I had seen this years ago before I polyurethaned my cabinets, I think it would be too hard to get down to grain now. I think I would try a tone on tone antique white.
Hi Jenny...the heavy gain of oak is very hard to completely eliminate. I suggest using a product we have found to be an excellent cover for painting over pre-finished cabinets. Check out our video on Beyond Paint...this is a great product. Just follow the manufactures suggested process for the best results. Thank you for watching. @@WoodworkingWithWes OK, take 2. Does it matter what wood is underneath and what finish is on them now? If I start acquiring similar cabinets (door fronts) will I be able to get them to match? I was going to send you a pic, but RUclips doesn't have that option. I could send by email if provided
Yes it can be done very effectively. Please watch our video showing a new build with the cerusing process. Thanks, Wes ruclips.net/video/vOH0dq6Cvzc/видео.html
Can you do this with oak chairs? I'm guessing you can, but.... is their an easier way than wire-brushing all those dowels and round edges to still make the grain stand up and have the texture? I don't know, maybe it isn't as hard as I'm imagining and nothing ventured nothing gained! lol Thanks!

Tracy...I really don't think you can wire brush too much. I have scrubbed very hard on some of my doors and still came out with a great look. But consistency is more important than how deep the wire brushing goes. Thanks for watching. Wes
Hello Wes! Love your channel.. quick question.. can you ceruse any type of wood? Cedar..Pine etc.., or just Oak?
Thank you if you respond.
Cynthia...we do have a video on the channel showing 11 different kinds of wood done the ceruse way. I think you will enjoy it. Thanks, Wes
Wes - your videos are amazing - thank you! I have a question - my golden oak kitchen cabinets were painted about 15 years ago. Can I still ceruse them? If so will I need to remove all of the paint and get down to the wood finish?
Same here, except polyurethane, I think this only works if you get down to grain texture.
Could you provide a list of materials that you use
This gives me Bob Ross vibes
😀. haha...I have heard that before ! Thanks for watching. Wes
Ugg, I wish I had seen this years ago before I polyurethaned my cabinets, I think it would be too hard to get down to grain now. I think I would try a tone on tone antique white.
Sounds like a great choice....good luck! Wes
Does this work well on walnut ? Thanks!
Check out our video on "Cerusing 11 Different Kinds of Wood." You will have an opportunity to see what the walnut would look like. Thanks, Wes
Does the paint you spray on first have to be lacquer?
Becky...the paint that I spray is not a lacquer but a primer sealer...then glaze and then clear top coat, usually lacquer. Thanks for watching Wes
Can I ask what is the make\model of paint sprayer it is youre using?
Please watch our newest video on making a spray gun selection where we show what I use. I think you will find it helpful. Thanks for watching. Wes
Can I use a wire brush attachment to a hand held orbital sander to cabinet boxes which cannot be taken down, like the doors??
Not an orbital sander as it would create round scratches. Unless you maybe held the orbital on edge?
Jobelle...the orbital motion would not create the proper cerusing finish. Thanks for watching. Wes
What if I don't like the grain in my honey oak custom cabinets? What process do I use? Ty
I feel the same way, I hate the grain on my oak cabinets. I wish he would respond to your question.
Wes

Where can you buy the glaze? Is it found at local hardware store? Home depot? Lowes?
Yes...glaze products are available at most local paint suppliers. Thanks for watching. Wes
mix the black and white. Make gray. see what happens?
Can we use stain instead of glaze?
Stain instead of glaze has never worked well for me, but you are welcome to give it a try and see what you think. Thanks for watching. Wes
I think u can make glaze. Anyone know how?
Is there a way to add a grain to where there isn't one? I have some shaker style white cabinets
Hi David...unfortunately that probably would not work. Thanks, Wes
What color is that blue? I love it!
It is Sherwin William blue chip. Thanks for your visit. Wes
What about the glaze color. Are there other colors besides white and Black?
Yes...glaze can be any color. Thanks, Wes
Can this be done on new doors? I'm making new doors on old boxes.
Yes it can be done very effectively. Please watch our video showing a new build with the cerusing process. Thanks, Wes

After lightly sanding the paint coat, I don't believe the panel dust was wiped. I'm sure it's the sanded dust that turned the glaze color
Actually, I blew the sanding dust off with an air nozzle and the glaze color is the same as what I applied. Thanks for watching, Wes
Can you do this with oak chairs? I'm guessing you can, but.... is their an easier way than wire-brushing all those dowels and round edges to still make the grain stand up and have the texture? I don't know, maybe it isn't as hard as I'm imagining and nothing ventured nothing gained! lol Thanks!
Disassemble …
Finish….
Reassemble…👍
Hi Cindy....yes you will still have to wire brush to enhance the grain for the true cerusing effect. Good luck, thanks for watching. Wes
@@WoodworkingWithWes yeah... that's what i thought, darn it! lol! i will try and find a brush with a curve, i guess, or just work my way around the skinny dowels. We would love to see you do a chair sometime.... thanks!
@@cindyp2181 great suggestion...could be an upcoming video, who knows?
Buenas noches. Como puedo pedir es furneture glaze producto en mexico en español
How do you deal with the taped edges of the particle board cabinets? How do you get that to match?
I have found that the cerusing process on edge banding and veneer panels to be very unsatisfactory as the veneer is too thin. Thank you for watching. Wes
Maybe it could be replicated with a graining effect, using the graining tool that looks like a curved rubber stamp.
You should have sanded the green one down. I think that would have e brought out the other colors
