OMG! I recently discovered M.Duenas and can't have enough of her videos. At my 76 years dedicated as a professional to the violin don't remember seen a young violinist with this power, gogeous sound and musicality. She is amazing!
I share your reaction. I discovered her in the first round of the Menuhin and am obsessed with everything she plays. She's incredible and is still getting better.

Agree, am a violinist and heard everybody good. But for me today I am really in awe with her and with Nemanja Radullovic. But Maria is one of those wonders of nature, an inate and natural violinist with superior musicality charisma and charm, sense of style, warm and personal! I never heard anyone ever play the 4th Paganini caprice the way she does, nobody better! An incredibly interesting violinist to follow…. This is of the calibre of Menuhin, Heifetz, Oistrakh, Perlman when they were young… I am a huge fan!

She has the lead. Incredibly rare ralent in the range of the young Menuhin, Heifetz, Oistrakh, totally effortless technique, warm violinplaying as we know it from the golden era with passionate Spanish sentiment. Authentic and charismatic, courageous and fearless, precise, rythmic, impeccable intonation, fantastic bowing… never heard a talent this big at this age in many years and I heard them all! Maria will be one of the greatest, no doubt in my mind!
She will be one of the legends. She does not only have skills but authenticity which many talents lack

Applause between movements is unusual but for this dazzling talent it’s certainly understandable. She is quite amazing, exuding incredible skill and self confidence. A great career lies ahead for this remarkable young lady.
Applause between movements is more common today because the audiences are not as familiar with the classics to begin with; thus they seldom understand that the work in all its movements is a single work, parts of a whole. It’s like interrupting the verses of a poem.
These are the same people that give standing ovations to everything and everyone. It’s as much a way to be a part of the performance themselves as it is to show unbounded appreciation.

She is a violinist with a rich Latin temperament. The passion that she puts into playing sometimes goes to the detriment of the precision and clarity of the sound. A good musician who finally comes from Western Europe and not from Russia or Korea! Brava!
Yes. I loved her interpretation-so passionate. But it would be a different story hearing her all by herself. I could tell it wasn't the cleanest version. Still, really good playing though.

Esta bella jovencita parece manejada por los dioses cuando toca el violin, ella y su violín parecen hechos de la misma pasta, siente tan profundamente lo que interpreta que no parece ser de este mundo; que los poderes del universo la cuiden por que llegará a la cúspide de la gloria. Listening to her playing Lalo’s music, I felt like my body was thrown into the sky by a tornado, no save landing in sight. Am I the only one who felt that way?
You aren't the only one. Dueñas plays with no guardrails, she tackles virtuoso passages with cunning irreverance and expressive passages with deep musical insight. She is truly on her way to greatness.

What about the technique? Just one word: perfect! All the "salero", all the Spanish blood, in the best interpretation I have ever seen of this work. María is no more a promise. She is allready one of the best and most expressive violinists in the world. Maria, defend yourself against this terrible virus that plagues us. We need you when everything is back to normal. 1. Maria's tone is far from perfect (and not very pleasurable). Therefore, my comment that it could be improved by an improvement in her technique is a truism.
2. Quite a few of her peers have her technique and tone.
3. Some of her peers have better technique _and_ tone.
What is "ignorant" is the comment I was replying to - namely, that her technique is "perfect."

Así se toca el violín caramba!!!! Una interpretación descollante, desbordante, excesiva, pletórica, limítrofe, extrema, heroica, eufórica, sacada extraída de otro plano, del plano del hambre y la generosidad por dar y tener la expresividad, la fuerza o el detalle máximo en cada nota, motivo, frase y la obra toda. Amás y te duele cada nota. Perfecto. Eso se transmite 100%. Bestial, brutal. Gran homenaje a la música, a Laló, al violín y a ti misma! Felicitaciones. Hoy tenía ganas de oir Laló, salió tu versión y me energizó el día!!! Gracias por tocar así el violín y la música.

Bellissimo concerto , bravissina Maria Duenas , perfetta solista di violino. E'' molto piacevole e importante ascoltare la " Syphonie Espagnole" di Eduard Lalo , autore poco conosciuto e , spesso , neppure riportato nei testi di Storia della musica. La Sinfonia, in 5 movimenti, è dedicata a Pablo De Sarazate , nel 1974. La data e il folklore spagnolo o spagnoleggiante , non possono non fare venire in mente "Carmen" di Bizet : se ne ritrovano i ritmi e , seppure in lontananza, anche alcuni accenni melodici. Lalo fu un magnifico orchestratore : non per niente a Parigi conobbe Hector Berlioz , che ha lasciato un "Trattato di orchestrazione", ancora oggi importante. Ma incanta Maria per la passione ( quasi sofferenza) con la quale interpreta il concerto: alterna una tecnica veramente eccellente, a
momenti melodici , che incontrano un'orchestra perfetta, nella quale il Direttore d'orchestra , Maestro Mihhal Gerts , conduce con sicurezza e sensibilità l'orchestra stessa. Ringrazio tutti, perché l'ascolto è un vero piacere per l'orecchio e per lo spirito.
