Oh! how beautiful, graceful and passionate Mendelssohn she is. especially I would feel that her rhythmic articulated bowing and beautiful skill might be so suitable for this concerto. I appreciate her gifted sensibility for classic music, veryvery so special and lyric bowing articulation. I would love her classical agogyk so much. I wonder if this concerto might be the best violin concerto in the world except Beethoven Violin Concerto, of cause that's depend on how to play. Any way I was moved so much, yeah! (91yrs/Japanese) sorry Strange English.

Mikko liebt schöne und herausragende Geigerinnen - ich habe eine Aufnahme dieses Konzerts mit ihm und der damals 21 jährigen Elisabeth Batiashvilli vom 8.4.2000 (Generalprobe), bei der ich selber mitgespielt habe (Staatsorchester Stuttgart, Liederhalle Stuttgart) - jetzt kann ich mich nicht mehr entscheiden, welche Interpretation ich mehr liebe... BEIDE !

I have seen her last month in Rome Auditorium S. Cecilia where she performed Tchaikovsky Violin Concert it was a mystical experience truly wonderful!

Amazing and very soft.More, more than beautifully composition and Maria plays more,more than amazing.
Without a doubt she is the finest talent of the 20th century , there is no lapse in her energy and commitment to the performance, giving every bar, every phrase attention to detail, always passionate every second of the performance and a sublime sound, that gets every angel in heavens attention . Just as Mendelssohn intended.
My first exposure to this concerto was in 1964, recording by Heifetz/Munch. Ms. Duenas brings a spontaneity and beauty of phrasing, sweetness of tone, that I have never heard before, including the Heifetz recording. I hope she lives to at least 90 and plays as long as she wants!

Duenas has developed a style all her own - her sound, her phrasing. She often bows backwards and it gives the sound a different edge. I believe she is also fluent in five languages - Spanish, German, English, French, and Russian. (I think the Berlin Philharmonic should have hired Mikko Franck as chief conductor nine years ago. They goofed when they chose Petrenko.)

A rare miss from Maria Duenas in my opinion. I appreciate the effort in making a very different interpretation though.
