Not sure if anyone has explained so far: The blue thing is just a visualisation of magnetic fields. Owls have an organ that helps them to navigate using the earths magnetic field and are sensitive to magnets/magnetic objects like the so called flecks in the movie (probably just magnetised pieces of iron). As far as I know (I am no owl expert) owls can't make out which way is up or down, when they are in strong magnetic fields and just fall out of the sky. I remember hearing a discussion if owls are able to see the magnetic fields or not, which could be the reason for the visual representation in the movie (plus it could be confusing seeing the owls getting affected by some metal pieces without "seeing" the magnetic field/the reason of it). Though I don't think you can get the magnetic part from just the movie alone (This is what I meant when I said in my previous comment, that you only get this, when you know the books, or about the owls reaction to magnetic fields) Edit (again): they have to use bats to work with the magnetic pieces as bats aren't affected by magnetism
YES. this movie is epic. i love it so much. i wish so bad it got a sequel. sure, the movie is very different from the books, but the movie could have had its own canon to work off of and make a movie series out of. GIVE ME A SEQUEL, SNYDER.
This was one of those rare movies that, despite it deviating away from the original novels, was beautifully done and set up well for another movie. I loved the books and this movie so much. I was not mad that it was different and wanted a sequel.
it’s kinda like a class system. “tyto” is a scientific class of owls, like barn owls (tyto alba), australian masked owls (tyto novaehollandiae), and more. so technically it’s like supremacy but with owl species lol also, the owls chanting “metal beak” was named off of hitler’s nazi’s. kinda like how scar’s matching hyena’s in the lion king were based off of the nazi’s

This was based on one of my favorite book series when I was little that I remember rereading over and over. I was 9 or 10 when this came out, and I remember loving the movie just as much as the books when I was little. I'm now 21 and still love both the movie and the books. I do agree with you JV, they should have made more of them. But I think you're right about the movie not doing that great in theatres. It's not a super well-known book series (like LOTR that EVERYBODY has already watched or read the books).
I never read the Guardians, but I did read the Wolves of the Beyond series, which takes place in the same universe but focusing on the wolves of the world
@@novashy7119 i read that one after reading the owls series!! that’s a great one too. i emailed the author about both series, asking if she was finished, and she responded saying “for now.” i don’t think she’s continuing them, seeing as they finished on pretty solid endings and i wrote that email nearly a decade ago lol, but it she’s an amazing writer
I really like this WB film! For a novel-based film, this one is visually stunning. For a long time, I’ve always been creeped out by owls. But ever since I watched this film (at a 3D screening btw), I started to get fascinated by these birds of prey. Legend of the Guardians is a very cool film and in my opinion, doesn’t get enough recognition for what it is.
SUCH a good film. i read the first 3 books of the series, although there were a lot of major plot differences, they did a fantastic job of condensing the immense lore of the series into a single film. the animation is incredible for its time, and one thing that i personally am fond of: this movie was an american-australian co-production, so there are LOTS of australian actors. i cannot tell you how much of a relief it is to hear familiar (and 100% real!) accents in a film. i also recognised a few uniquely australian trees (gum trees!), and of course the fun addition of an echidna. great video!
This movie is so slept on! It’s definitely my favorite bird type movie’s! Not only is it beautiful but the story is very enjoyable! I really wish they made another but it didn’t make enough money I assume .
Great reaction, like how you predicted Allomeres (idk how u write it) betrayal, I never noticed it was him talking to Metal Beak earlier on so I only realized he was gonna betray them after the first time xD
The movie is set in Australia which is why many of the characters have Australian accents, plus the echidna (not porcupine) and the owl named Digger isn’t just referring to the fact that he digs but alludes to what Australian soldiers were called in the world wars ‘diggers’.
I always found that odd, considering in the books it's a fantasy world. The only reason they made it Australia for the film is because that's where the effects company is located. However, none of the owls in this film, except the barn owls and sooty owls, can be found in Australia.
The movie is not set in Australia. It's set in the Southern Kingdoms. The whole area doesn't have a name as far as I know. Edit: also its Britain. They are British, not Australian. Edit 2: He was named Digger because he "digs" past the surface on subjects. It's all explained in the books dude. I think you just watched the movie
I love the accuracies in this tbh, like Mrs P. Owls actually keep blind snakes in their nest to eat small pests and Insects that would eat the eggs/children.
Great reaction, love how you let yourself just go with the flow and get really in to the action in films. Regarding the way this film performed, I feel like it suffered because it was a bit too dark for kids and it didn't lure in parents, leaving it only being watched by older kids and adults who like animation, which really limited its audience. Which is a crying shame because I think it's a fantastic film.
The voice actor Geoffrey Rush plays the voice of Ezylryb the owl, mentor of Soren the owl, you know Geoffrey Rush acting famous as Captain Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribbean is in this fantastic movie and plays a fantastic role in this movie!!!!
The scene where they show the owls practicing the arts of blacksmith navigating or combat and the music in the background is from my favorite band who’s Music has been in many film and been on many albums Owl City, the music in the background is take to the sky by Owl City!!!!!!!
I always watch this and hear middle beaks speech and for some strange reason I always get emperor Palpatine from Star Wars vibes, does anyone else!!!!!
I just love how life like the owls were! The details were astounding! The 3D close ups when they were flying were so cool! feels like your there flying with them!
Not anything close to what the books were, but a nice movie on it's own none the less!😊 This movie actually encouraged me to willing read my first book series as a kid
i feel like they changed it from the books for several reasons, to make it more kid friendly and to condense it just in case the movie was a flop. in which, it kinda was in the sense that it didn’t get as much recognition that it should’ve, but it still had many fans. so tbh, i feel like they should’ve built off of the books more if they were to make a movie series. maybe from the part in the books where it’s revealed that kludd is alive
@@kayleenlong2527 yup!! same author, same world as the owls. great series. i even emailed the author as a young child, asking if she was finished with writing about both the owls and wolves, and she said she was “finished for the time being.” i believe she’s fully finished with them, considering i wrote that email nearly a decade ago, lol
I usually don't comment but this is something i am very passionate about. I honestly believe they didn't do another film because of how pissed the readers of the original series was after. In my personal opinion, I think they cut apart and rearranged the story so much that it would have been hard to continue. I cant tell you how excited I was when this first vame out, but to see that they tried to "make it there own" angered and upset me. If they did that to harry potter or LOTR people would of been in an uproar. I am glad they didnt make more. They couldn't even get the simple part of this one right. I will leave you with a couple examples. In the first book they did not fall out of the tree. Kludd pushed him and threatened to eat mrs. P when she sensed it and tried to go for help. Soran And his group were the ones who found his sister during a owlet rescue mission. The bats were only used to drain blood from the wings of the owls, which weakened the owls by taking the blood they need to develop flight feathers.
Yess, one of my favorite movies I watch almost every year. The flying in the Rain spiral thing was the most beautiful 3D thing I ever seen. It's just beautiful with just the right amount of fights.
FINALLY someone reacts to this film! I fell in love with it when I saw the first trailer. Saw it in 3D in theaters and was swept up in the epic journey and beautiful visuals. It may be a straight-forward story, but I love it. Love the characters and the world. Crazy that I never found the books the film is based on when I was a kid, because that's the kind of stuff I ate up when I was young.
The flecks and blue stuff is just visualization for magnetic fields. In the wild and just recently, it was shown that birds including owls may be able to actually see magnetic fields as they have specialized cells in their eyes for this. They detect magnetism other ways too but that cell physically allows them to see the Earth’s magnetic field. This is how many birds migrate. I’m assuming that the flecks mess with this natural magnetic field (their probably magnetized iron from the food they eat) so when the birds are near them, they can no longer fly properly.
OH MY GOD. I can't believe you actually reacted to this gem of a movie. I always recommend it to reaction channels because it really doesn't get enough attention. AND YOU DID IT! I'm so psyched! Totally elated! Thank you for reacting to a movie near and dear to my heart. Your reaction was, as always, entertaining. Thank you so much for this reaction! Ah, as for movie recommendations, might I suggest "Wolfwalkers" (2019)? It's a traditionally 2D-animated film that I think you'd love!
Great reaction! This is one of my favorite movies! I am so sad that there isn't a second part! The graphics are some of the best that I have ever seen, even to this day!

This is literally one of my favorite movies and recommend it to everyone especially if you want to teach children about cults and other socio-political topics.
Gylfie and Soren are just friends. Males and females can be friends without it becoming romantic, and I kinda hate that the movie added that little indication that she's jealous like that. This movie encompasses the first 6 books of the 21 book series, so... it skips a TON.
Replying a year later lol- I agree, and it was kind of awkward seeing the slight romantic hints between Soren, Gylfie, and Otulissa. They're all really close friends who care about each other, and it's upsetting to see that they changed that in the movie.
The owl that beat Twilight is named Primrose and is the 2nd smallest owl in the world, and she's Eglantine's best friend and chawmate in the books. Also she's several years younger than him.
This is one of my favorite movies! Thank you for watching it, I’ve requested it frequently. Also, I wish they made a sequel, but apparently it wasn’t popular enough. I wanted to see Kludd as Metalbeak, which I’m sure was going to happen in the sequel considering that ending. Loved your reaction; I would like to see you react to Mr Peabody and Sherman next.
I read this book series when I was little and loved it. I really hope they make a sequel someday so we can see what happened at the end, the second book was just as good as the first so I think a movie would be amazing as well’
I loved this movie and read the books and the wolf spin off series. The books are a bit darker in that Kludd actually murders his parents when he kidnaps his sister
Awesome review! I’m glad that you liked this film. I read at least the first four books of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole book series. The movie is very different from the books. Yes, we still have St. Aegolius. However, the difference is that we have different villains leading that dark kingdom, and we don’t even get introduced to villains like Metal Beak, and Nyra until around book 3, or 4, sometime like that. I also thought that some of the character development in the film could show e maybe been a little better. Still, I loved the score, many of the characters were likable, and I thought it was cool that the villain was a husband, and wife duo. Yeah, how often does that happen? Regardless, I like how movies like Hunchback Of Notre Dame, maybe even Princess & The Frog, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Dinosaur, and Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole really stepped out of their comfort zones in terms of trying to be more dark, and mature story wise. Well, great job once again, and looking forward to future reactions!
You know it's Hollywood, they want to cramped 3 books into 90 minutes movie. Just like how alita battle angel cramped 45 chapter into 2 hours movies. There's plot and characters need to be changed. Good thing about both movie is the author is producer and approved the script. She's also on pre production and recording session while Snyder choosing animal logic studios to do the bird physics
@@boboboy8189 Oh, that’s cool about the bird physics. And yeah, of course that’s fair. I just think that animation companies should maybe make their films around 2 hours, or more, especially since even family films like Mary Poppins were a little over two hours years ago, you know? Still, fair enough!
I love this Movie so much ♥ It gets way to little appreciation, sadly. I read the books as well. The visuals and the soundtrack are beautiful and the details in the animation are simply stunning. Edit: There are a few smaller things (like the magnetic fields) that can be a little confusing if you haven't read the books, or aren't knowledge with owls to draw your own conclusions, but I still think this Movie made a wonderful job portraying the story Back in 2010, when it was my birthday, this movie was still running in cinemas. So I took a day off from work, took the train 2.5 hours to the next big city with a 3D cinema and wanted to watch it there... This day they had technical issues and after all that I still wasn't able to see it in 3D.... still sad about it... Well I own the DVD and I watched it like 10+ times at least xD
Not shown in the video: Twilight's glorious battle song with such uplifting lyrics as: "Into battle we do fly Even if, we're going to die A nasty scary death that hurts quite a lot Even if our wings are ripped clean oooOOOOOOFFFFFF--"
There is actually a book series this movie is based off of and I recommend reading them if you have the time, it's really good and add more to the story.
Guardians of Ga’Hoole is based on a book series by the same name. They did really well for cramming in 3 books in one movie! Only thing I say they did poorly was absolutely butcher twilight & diggers personalities. I heavily recommend the books
I think it's magnetism, that's in the mice they eat, why they collect them, so it effects them magnetism still in their gizzards making the basicly unable to move under all the magnetic pressure.
Am I the only one who thinks this dude has already watched the movie Before this reaction video with how accurate all his “guesses” And “Predictions” are?
I suppose you could say this was one of the many things that started the legend although despite mistakes every one of them had a lesson that he learned each and every single time also I’m sorry about his daughter had we known we could’ve helped her in a way

I wanted to see Kludd as Metalbeak, which I’m sure was going to happen in the sequel considering that ending. Loved your reaction; I would like to see you react to Mr Peabody and Sherman next.
Remember watching this movie with like 5 years and loving it, when I was 14 I watch it again and noticed the dark it was xD still LOVE this movie 😌💖
My sibling and I have been stalking your channel waiting for this one! I'm gonna have to wait until they get out of school though
The books are underrated in my opinion compared to warriors. Redwall shares a similar fate as well.
I love this movie, and I feel like its so underrated.
I'm so glad Geoffrey Rush is in this movie. I knew it his vouce and I heard it somewhere before. 😊 My mom likes Geoffrey Rush.
They should make a sequel to this movie.
one of my favourite movies of all time!!! and the books are wonderful
This movie is so gorgeous to look at !!
Edit: There are a few smaller things (like the magnetic fields) that can be a little confusing if you haven't read the books, or aren't knowledge with owls to draw your own conclusions, but I still think this Movie made a wonderful job portraying the story
Back in 2010, when it was my birthday, this movie was still running in cinemas.
I just watched this last night, and now there's a JV reaction? Sweet!
Edit: The metal flecks are magnet fragments, not magic.
I love this movie so much I wish so much that there was more
Love this one, but its very underappreciated ❤
Not shown in the video: Twilight's glorious battle song with such uplifting lyrics as:
"Into battle we do fly
Even if, we're going to die
A nasty scary death that hurts quite a lot
Even if our wings are ripped clean oooOOOOOOFFFFFF--"
This movie stayed in my mind for yeaaaaars but I cant seems to remember the name 😂 thank you for reminding me about this movid
There is actually a book series this movie is based off of and I recommend reading them if you have the time, it's really good and add more to the story.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
The bats are collecting all those metal flecs to set a trap for the guardians.
Allomere, is going to lead the guardians straight to the trap.
Cats Don’t Dance is an underrated classic from the 90s I hope you check out one day 😁
Guardians of Ga’Hoole is based on a book series by the same name. They did really well for cramming in 3 books in one movie! Only thing I say they did poorly was absolutely butcher twilight & diggers personalities. I heavily recommend the books
I think they need levity in this movie, because third act is very dark and gritty
Not the fake mouth movements for the patreon 😭
I.... Love.... This.... Movie!
I hoped you would comment on the soundtrack that played during Soren's flight while he carried the fire, but I guess youtube said no. =')
Check out my new video that just dropped on RUclips! Ice Age: Continental Drift ruclips.net/video/7bHn8JZhMfk/видео.html
I think it's magnetism, that's in the mice they eat, why they collect them, so it effects them magnetism still in their gizzards making the basicly unable to move under all the magnetic pressure.
I love this movie a lot. I need to re-watch it.
I think this is still one of the best looking movies for birds, just the details on the feathers and such.
I want a sequel to this movie!
I remember loving this movie! Love the King and queens song from this too! Also it is a bit like Lotr.
Am I the only one who thinks this dude has already watched the movie Before this reaction video with how accurate all his “guesses” And “Predictions” are?
Recommendations: Tangled, Atlantis, Anastasia
Brought to you by Zack Snyder in this movie about owls and the mythical properties that they hold
I suppose you could say this was one of the many things that started the legend although despite mistakes every one of them had a lesson that he learned each and every single time also I’m sorry about his daughter had we known we could’ve helped her in a way
Thermals. Ride the thermals.
I Love this movie!
I watched this the year it was released and I loved it, i was the only one in my friend circle to enjoy it.
This movie is incredible!!! Wish it could've been given a chance 😢
The books are amazing (way better than the film). I still love this movie!
It’s weird that Madagascar, happy feet, Avatar 2 exists, ice age gets 5 movies and no sequel to Legend Kf The guardians? Ridiculous
kludd was good and everything and now he turned to the dark side just like Anakin Skywalker in Star wars Revenge of the Sith.
also grew up watching this movie
Still waiting for the sequel! they are doing it with Avatar!
Love kludd, he doesn’t deserve this he should join Soren.
I suggested it just yesterday. Watch Mary and Max. You'll cry like nothing.
U can google metal beak and the movie concept art shows him without his helmet
Its not suppose to be magic
It seems to be magnetic.
And I remember that magnets can effect birds.
that movie was 2 good it was only hated because Hollywood Hates Zack snyder IDK why
I’m going to call the battle the battle of the firewing😊
