What was the "surprise"?
I give it a 9! The action, animation, and detail were great overall, and I really appreciated the homages of Frieza/Goku and Vegeta/Goku at the end! I think it would have been cool if Beerus would have actually gotten up and congratulated them, but I guess there wasn't enough time to put that in.
9.5 hard to find a fault. You look at this ending compared to the last 2 episodes of Z and they killed it with this one. Animation was great, surprise to see 17 win it all. Vegetas face when Goku and Frieza worked together. The throw back to Goku and Vegtas first fight. It was a great ending to what has been an awesome series. Goku Black and this Saga are 2 of the best in dragonball history.

I never actually realised when I rewatched the last episode that Goku and Vegeta were sparring on the same territory when they first fought. When Goku just learned Kaioken and Vegeta arrived on Earth as a Saiyan Soldier under Frieza’s power🥹

I'm not gonna lie, I know most people consider 17 the MVP but for real, Frieza had so many amazing moments in the tournament it just had me loving his character. The way he did people mad dirty, get his ass whooped, but still be cocky as hell afterwards and fighting alongside Goku was beyond amazing.

The emotional moments were when Toppo went to motivate Jiren. I felt like he was being Goku to Gohan. And Jiren stood for the first time not for his wish or himself but for his friends and the trust they showed on him and the resulting increase in power. Also, I enjoyed after they were revived. Jirens swear to Son Goku that He will be seeing him soon and the next time he will win. I loved it! I also loved how Goku came forward to appreciate jirens help in breaking his own limits and that he wish to see him again. Epic moments.
It makes the end of super that much more heart wrenching when zen asks Goku if he will come back, because zeno is a representation of us, the viewer, wondering if we will get more
Yo I was about to be hot if I had to wait til tomorrow for y'all family..real talk they put that work in on Jiren..I was thinking about teamwork being a reoccurring theme in super and 17 as a ranger kept stating how he had to save the animals..it was his preservation of life that made that wish.
Was expecting this outcome, great ending!

oSHIT Unlikely. Goku and Vegeta have more or less been equals the majority of Super, with one only being stronger than the other for brief periods of time before the other caught up. Now that Goku can't utilize UI for the time being, they're back in the same spot again ( the argument could be made Vegeta is currently stronger, given he still has his new form). They'll more than likely continue to be on the same page from here on out--their rivalry isn't important to the plot, and hasn't been for quite some time.

He'll master tapping into the form probably by the movie. This is nothing but the writers throwing a bone at Vegeta fans. Goku is the strongest mortal.

akira toriyama is a genius...if you read/watched all of dragonball you would know this...a lot like one piece if you turn off biased logic and just learn to enjoy it the series is perfect on every level..sure theres always asspulls characters you wish did more or developed but this world is built around goku and his way of living and how everyone else fits around that..hes the core of his own show...if it took until the end of the series to realize this then I suggest watching it from the start to the end of super and then rewatching the end of z afterwards since it takes place after and is still cnaon.cause it really is one big maze and adventure...it never really stops

The form Ultra Instinct is indeed canon as it is a transformation developed by Toriyama himself. As the other guy said it will be a temporary power up for whenever Goku is pushed to his limits. So basically it will truly be his last resort. Given the amount of power and drawback it has it makes sense for them to keep it that way.
What a ending!! The well deserved MVP and one of my new favorite characters getting exactly what he deserved. Enemies putting things aside and working together for one common goal. The way it should be. Then after achieving that goal together, they still show love for the people that they were fighting their very lives for. Followed by everything working out for everyone and not just one particular group of people even when that wasn't fate's plan to begin with. Love. Friends. Trust. And overcoming the odds even when it looks really bad. That's what it all about. 💖 #AnimeForLife

The last bit when Goku and Frieza were fighting Jiren and Goku was phasing in and out of Super Saiyan form, is also a callback to the original dragon ball z fight of Goku vs Frieza when Goku first became Super Saiyan because he was phasing in and out of that form back then.
