One thing I like about this ending is that this is the power of universe 7: Trust. Trust, not friendship. Goku and Frieza are still enemies, but Frieza trusts that Goku will keep his word and Goku trusts that Frieza will act for self-preservation, which right now means winning the tournament.
They don't need to like each other to trust each other, but they need to trust each other to win.
sub is even better since sub Frieza respects Goku a lot more. They are enemies, but they hold respect for each others power. He doesn't call him "monkey," he calls him "Son Goku-san," which is very respectful.

@Mai-hk9he I like Gokus sub voice. I dont like how in dub his voice breaks every time he screams, and in sub, he sounds more playful.
This is why the manga one doesnt make sense,goku speech to freeza taught him trust for the first time but in the manga freeza is totally fine with not getting his wish for no reason.
The ending was indeed predictable but the condition of zenos erasing all of reality for a selfish wish makes it look so much better!!!
Random thought, if Goku wished back the other universes, would Zeno's consider it a selfish wish if he did it because he wanted to fight them again.
Rewatching for the 4th time I realized future zenni erased every goku less universe 7 included thanks to zamas

On one hand yeas. On the other point one person who could predict Goku and frieza taking jiren and 17 being last standing. Yea Lotr was also predictable because they for sure will destroy ring? I would say no, because there is lots of different things. Aragon going for suicidal move just to keep sauron occupied, Frodo nreaging at the last moment and golum killing himself by accident makes it surprising. Same here, univers 7win was sure but vegeta being 5th and 17 first was for sure shocker

Frieza taunting Dyspo, God Toppo, and Jiren only got him severe beatings. Especially by God Toppo.

To be fair it just seems like all the other universes in the tournament were full of weaklings. There's probably just a lot more of them in their respective universes. Quantity over quality, which as we've seen, doesn't work.

Every universe had a theme. Universe 2 was love, universe 11 was justice, etc. In the end, Jiren realizes that Universe 7's theme is Trust. Which is the lesson he needed to learn.
I also really like how the Zeni's would have erased all of reality if a selfish wish was made. Because everybody predicted the wish would be to bring all the universes back and we hated that going into it because it means there are no stakes to it. But then the plot twist is that actually the stakes were real and they were even higher than we knew. That's how you do a good reveal!
That last frame with Frieza in his ''final form'' and Goku with just enough to turn super saiyan, so beautiful and nostalgic, the namek saga all over again. When i first saw this episode i got emotional
The fact that freeza called Goku “saiyan” and not “monkey” is a hint to the trust in that moment

Like damn, moments before Goku was flickering between his gold hair and normal form and then in the last blast he goes full, turning completely.
Edit: now imagine the ABSOLUTE SATISFACTION of seeing Jiren at the booth, like *finally* , it felt like years that arc
Goku Flickering super Saiyan is one of the coolest animation choices in the entire franchise just absolute peak.
I don't know if it was specified in the dub or not, but in the Japanese version, it's stated that when they're erased, they don't even have an afterlife - they are literally removed from all existence, including their godly realms. So Goku dying wouldn't allow him to see Jiren again. Which makes the whole universe erasure thing so much more terrifying to me.
complete erasure is nto terrifying, a lack of existence wouldn't be terrorfying it would be far scarier if being erased meant eternal torment
When you think about it, 17 is the only one who could have won plot wise. Because all the other contenders had either selfish or pre planned wishes they would not change. Given that they needed someone with an empty slate basket to come around and develop empathy for the other universes and make that specific wish, 17 is the only possible choice.
Way back in the day when the Android saga first aired I never in a million years would’ve thought 17 would one day be responsible for not only saving the universe but multiple others.
The whole purpose of the tournament of power was to see if mortals can change for better. In the previous saga, Zamasu believed mortals were unredeemable, but here 17 proved otherwise by reviving the losing universes

The final battle was one of the best moments in the entire franchise. Seeing Goku and Frieza work together to take down Jiren, Goku not even being able to fully go into Super Saiyan until the very last second, Android 17 being crowned the victor, the lesson about trust, this is such an incredible finale.

I actually love the way it ended and still defend it to this day.
1) The Grand Zeno’s knew that the fighters wouldn’t give it their all unless the survival of their universe and or themselves was at stake. And if someone other than 17 won they most likely wouldn’t have made the same wish, so A17 saved all of existence. Hell of a character arc.
2) This now expands the universe of Dragon Ball even more with more characters we can come to love, especially with universes 6, 4, 3, 2, and 11.
3) Even though Goku and Frieza ringed out Jiren it’s still possible that he could have beaten them, he still had a lot of gas in the tank, or at least more than Goku or Frieza.
4) And most of all Vegeta kept his word and got U6 brought back thanks to the MVP A17, which means we have to se Vegeta Goku and the other Saiyans visit planet Sadala and meet an entire planet of good Saiyans. Hell Toriyama might even take some time to grow and develop Cabba, Kale and Caulifla. Oh and any excuse to se more Hit.
Hopefully Tohei brings it back soon, and move it to a different time slot in Japan so we can get the blood back. Also give the animators more time to work on these episodes so we can get this high level of quality back!

This ending is always so bittersweet to me, it's so hard seeing the end (currently) of a journey with characters I've looked up to for so long.

The ending to this arc is also where Zamasu was proven wrong.
If you look back at how Frieza grabbed to Jiren at the end, Frieza trusts Goku enough to be sure he will come and help.
Again, forget the haters. This tournament was awesome. And with Android 17 turning out as the MVP is very satisfying. Also finding out that the tournament would test the virtue of the winning universe was a nice touch and your surprise was most of ours when we watched that as well.

There are a lot of differences between series and manga. The series is weekly and the manga monthly, the rumor is that the creators want the manga to get ahead further before bringing it back.
The tournament of power's goal was to give them a chance to show their worth in this tournament. 17 wished for a none selfish wish which is of high respect.
Goku started this to give this universes a chance to change Zeno's mind. So even though Goku seemed to be the bad guy, he kind of saved all the universes from being erased with this tournament.

I really enjoyed the tournament. Probably my favorite saga of all dragonball. Sad you've finished the episodes, but there's still the 2 movies after this, plus old dragonball. Looking forward to that. People weren't lying when they said this saga broke the internet multiple times. I remember struggling to watch some episodes cuz the site I watched it on struggled to load more than usual, even with decent wifi.
In spanish "Seno" is translated as Boob, sounds the same as "zeno",. the plural for Boobs is "Senos", which sounds the same as "zenos", so it was kinda weird everytime they mentioned "the two zenos", lol, I've seen DBS in Japanese, Spanish (Latinamerican), and English.
Also, when this finale aired out, there were several latinamerican countries which transmited the episode in open areas (Japan didn't like this at first), you can find the videos, hundreds of people screaming of joy, lol, is contagious. cheers from Mexico!

I love the reaction Vegeta gets when Goku, his greatest rival, and Frieza, the object of his hate, work together. Goku, the low class warrior who somehow always manages to not just match him, but surpass him in power at every turn, and Frieza, the person that single handly killed his entire race and planets, leaving him a prince without a kingdom, a prince of no one. Poor guy cant fathom working with that monster

There was a part that was missed out from 17’s final wish, when he said bring back every universe: that includes 12 and 13 which I believe had already been erased prior to the tournament
notice, he said all of reality would have been eliminated. so 17 not only brought back the tournament losers but saved those universes that didn't have to participate.
17 is the most intelligent warrior in the whole tournament. He used his intelligence to survive and win.

I think 17 was the most helpful, he took out so many opponents and helped out with others. Don't forget, if it wasn't for 17 saving him from falling off the edge, Frieza would've been eliminated after top whooped his ass😂😂😂

What you have to remember is, the lovers don't die, they are erased from existence, that means there isn't any afterlife, thats also erased. Afterlife in dB universe is based on where you are (eg. Frieze being in earth's hell) no 7th universe, no 7th universe afterlife
If you look around online, you'll find that there are "unknown" plans for dragon ball happening currently. Everyone seems to think it's the anime. The Manga ran into the Moro arc, then into the granola arc. I personally can't wait for the anime to come back. I've waited long enough lol.....

It would have been nice to have a resolution episode or two, but I'm pretty sure they rushed to end Super because Bulma's VA died.
