Every NFL team is a marketing company. The reason you think the Cowboys are somehow the only one just shows how much better Jerry Jones is at what he does. They've also put together a team that's gone 12-5 three straight yrs so they "just happen to play football" ok as well. They choke every yr but don't hate Jerry for doing his job better than everyone else. Dak and Romo are chokers but Jerry set them up to win.

The Niners have been a very good running team since Shanahan has been there because of the exact same reasons. They have built a very good offensive line. Shanahan had backs who weren’t high draft picks before CMC who did great in his system. CMC just took them to another level. The Cowboys should have drafted an offensive lineman in the first or second round last year. They should have signed a higher quality free agent instead of bargain bin shopping with Edoga. You said it yourself, as good as Mahomes is, his defense and running game is carrying them this year due to poor WR play. It’s not about fewer throws. Goff was 2nd in the NFL in pass attempts overall and 3rd in pass attempts per game. It’s about physical presence and dominance on offense. The Dallas Cowboys lack physicality on both sides of the ball. You have to be able to smash a defense in the face and make defenders “make a business decision” on if it’s wise to engage a tackle. Derrick Henry gives you that. Tony Pollard does not.
I like Tony. He’s an excellent change-of-pace back. Always has been. But he is not going to run defenders over. They have to have that to be a viable playoff team.
On defense, they need an enforcer at linebacker, safety, or both. Someone to fly in and bang bodies and make receivers see ghosts over the middle. That player has to be in addition to Micah Parsons. You want Parsons to be like a Closer in baseball. Swoop in and slam the door on a drive. Well, every great closer needs a great set up man, and Dallas does not have one. Get Patrick Queen. Get a thumper in the middle, and the defense becomes a viable playoff defense.

In salary cap hell if they don’t extend him. No quarterback waiting in the wings ready to take over if he leaves.
