i'm excited for cataclysm because back in the day i didnt play WoW,so this is my first experience,but so far TBC is still my favorite expansion

@@gabe9646the reason most people like TBC was because in vanilla you felt fairly weak. Warriors and mages did high damage but had low survivability, priests and shamans and druids had high survive but would sacrifice their ability to do basically any DPS, for example. In TBC we saw buffs to healers DPS and added/buffed survivability to classes that didn’t already have any. Along with those things it was still easy and slow. Yes, TBC and vanilla were easy. Leveling was easy, just slow. Dungeons were easy, just slow. Raids were easy, again, just slow. There were hardly any mechanics that people needed to actually pay attention to in any aspect of the game. It was a time where whoever did the most damage the fastest won a PvP battle.
People didn’t like wrath and prefer tbc and can’t explain why because it’s harder. Dungeons and raids finally had actual mechanics, PvP combat was different in that skill supersedes class/gear to an extent, gold was easier to make.
People hated cataclysm for the same reasons except, realistically, cataclysm was by far the most balanced we’ve ever seen the world… of Warcraft. Just like what’s noted in the video, every class was viable in cataclysm, at least one spec was more than playable the entire expansion. Every class had something they excelled at, raids were hard, leveling was fun because there was an actual challenge in most cases. Yes, exp gains were increased, yes there were quality of life additions like an in game quest helper, but tell me you didn’t use questie in classic and tbc, almost 100% of people used either questie or an in game leveling guide…
Long story short, TBC was slow paced and easy, the last time that was wow slow paced and easy. Where most things were a mind numbing grind. That’s why rep tabards were included in wrath, get rid of the mindless grinds because it’s a waste of everyone’s time.

Wotlk is good but TBC felt like home in a sense
I played every expansion except Pandaria, so I can say TBC is by far the best experience, very well put together expansion

True. Cata is my favorite exp. Wotlk is one of my least favorite expansion except for ICC. But now that I did LoD again, I don't think ICC is that good of a raid anymore... Besides LK himself, most fights I HATE and they are tedious. Like, Cindy HC, Valithria (am a healer main but i have dps chars too), Gunship, Saurfang, Queen are literally just shit fights. I am someone who enjoys Council just because it is at least somewhat mechanically interesting fight. The rest are ok, including LK. Now for cata... That is a whole different story. Tier 11 I love everything pretty much. The new council is one of my most fun fights, Onyxia/Nef, Chogall, Atramedes, even Chimaeron (cause as a healer, you have windows for MASSIVE healing when you stack but generally play the fight entirely differently). It's just all good.

Would agree except for the talents. They should have added more branches more end talents to choose from, not destroy the old ones
And even then, i feel like DS was perfectly fine EXCEPT the last 2 bosses. Not the best final raid of an xpac but it really wasn't awful
I actually loved Cata when it was out. And the fact that the loot is the same across 10/25 is great for me since I’m in a small guide that has trouble getting 25 people consistently.
I didn't play cata. My small guild did our first ICC 10 last night. It took us a few weeks to get enough people and gear them out in order to just step through the door. I was just thinking last night that it's a shame that 10/25 loot is so different as I don't see us ever organizing a 25.
@@calebsmith1926 As someone that's in a guild that did ICC 25m HC Lich King before nerfs I'd much rather play 10m if I had the chance. Sure, 25m is harder content but it's also less fun and you have more unreliable people as opposed to 10m. I can't wait to do 10m in Cataclysm especially as it's of equal or harder difficulty to 25m and has the same gear.
10m is where I've had the most fun personally.
I have a hard time joining a 25 man raid group. I’m a ten man hero. Annoying to be competing for loot anyways.
@@icebox1954 I have way more fun in our 10m group than the few times we have been able to get 25 guildies on for a full raid. We got a real close knit raid group and we all have a blast on raid nights. In 10 everyone has to pull their weight, in most 25 content you can make up for a couple slackers but the margins in 10 are so small everyone has to be on their shit. We got everything but Litch King down on heroic but usually only had enough time for one solid raid night a week so we didn’t get a whole lot of looks at Heroic LK.
@@rizzorizzo2311 10m HC LK is apparently pretty easy compared to 25m HC.
My guild did LK 25m HC before player buffs but it was barely done and in that fight even a few people slacking can wipe the whole raid so some 25m is definitely much more difficult than 10m.
In WoTLK 10m is easy mode but that won't be true in Cata where it's usually harder than 25m due to less combat rez and interrupts etc.
I'm actually looking forward to cata I don't care what anyone says it just seems to be a popular thing to hate cata its a joke. Cata was fantastic. pvp gear was still relative and looked good pvp was good it wasn't classic spam frostbolt but it's not DF having a million keybinds it had the perfect balance and development on all specs. I never did pve but since sod and classic in 2019 I am happy to give raids a go this time round so yes looking forward to it

I'd rate Cata and MoP as the best expansions!!! Not only the classes were balanced, but you could also farm old content solo. Can't wait for the prepatch!

I feel like Cata was a refined version of Wrath. Excited to play my Blood DK Tank, the new hunter and my Disc priest.

For me the selling point is not having to pve to play pvp. I have few alts that I would like play some pvp but I can't because some pve trinktes way too are overpowered. Moreover ilvl 277 weapons are way easier to get from raids especially with 15% buff, not to mention the welfaremourne axe.
I've never understood the hate for Cataclysm. I loved the dungeons, raids and PvP. Zones like Deepholm and others were super nice. Even kinda liked Tol Barad. I would put it in the same tier as Wotlk

Im glad many players dont consider cata as "tRuE cLaSsIc" so Blizzard will actually have the balls to make real changes. SoD has disappointed me because its essentially just a few new class quests and unthoughtfully-pasted shiny spells
One thing I hope Blizzard look to address is servers. Server merges need to happen to maintain a healthy feel to the game. The server I currently play on is really quiet and with Cata being so polarising, I can see many people quitting (unfortunately). Still very excited for Cata, just hope enough people are also.

and yeah rotation wise cata is a lot of fun :D I managed to master the sub rogue, that is actually VERY hard to play well imo, maybe even the hardest spec in the game

For good pvp and pve players cataclysm is one of the best expansion. But for average player it is a disaster.
Easiest fix for Cash Flow, make it personal guild rep dependent. 0% from ppl with neutral, 1% with friendly, 2% with honored, 3% with revered and 5% with exalted. Double it for rank 2 but always keep neutral at 0%.
Also stop teasing with your class videos and drop them already! :D
Plenty of people will play cata, its only the loud ones that make it seem like cata isnt good and thats because they're actually bad at the game.

I'm in the pro-Cata camp as well. Firelands is one of the best raids ever in my opinion.
Cata is the sweet spot for me. Not classic and not retail. I love rbgs and hunter feels so much better
I totally agree, i actually think its closer to vanilla than WOTLK is which is why i don't get why people hate on it lol. Back in eastern kingdoms, old dungeons remade as heroics etc. Sure the world is a bit different and so are the quests but to me it's all positive.

Its quite stupid when people point at population numbers when the 2004 version of the game carried the games hype years and Blizzard probably did their best promotional content for Wrath.

We're not the minority, trust me. The Asmongold flavor of the month streamers just drown out the average players' voices. Take a look at how those streamer clowns play the game, like him and Esfand? They hyped up SoD to no end and then both of them did BFD once and quit. Esfand is supposedly part of the SoD streamer team or whatever and he streams Madden more than he does SoD even on launch week. You can't go by what these clowns are doing, you gotta go by the average player. And the numbers don't lie - even right now which is the biggest lull of WOTLK, wotlk STILL has more active weekly raiders than retail and classic era combined. Cata also maintained 10 million subs the entire expansion despite the misinformed and context void claims you always hear crybabies talking about "subs falling off after wotlk".
Asmongold dishonestly made an entire segment on his stream where he had to say "nobody cares about cata" and then showed a blizzcon clip of the crowd being quiet. It was later exposed that he was a dishonest hack and the crowd footage was NOT the footage of the cata announcement, so he lied. Of course he doesn't care about cata, he doesn't care about ANY version of wow. He doesn't play any version of wow on his stream, he just plays the new patch on patch day or the launch day of something like SoD and then quits in a week. NOBODY should care or be influenced by any of these herbs. Unfortunately, a lot of these same people also stay subbed to classic streamers like yourself because they have the same misery wants company attitude asmon has, where they desperately want to artificially push the overton window toward their side and create this meme of "lol cata no one wants that". Let's not forget how Asmongold did the exact same thing at the end of classic vanilla and classic tbc - he claimed "no one cares about tbc/wotlk" and yet both of them consistently maintained a bigger active weekly raider base than retail. In other words, the opinions of these streamers is meaningless. They can say "lol no 1 cares about cata" all they want and the game will still be trucking along just fine.
People are experiencing after-holiday wrath burnout now for sure which has put a lot of guilds on hiatus until cata (just like what happened near the TBc---> Wrath prepatch) ,combined with the more casual and accessible sod being really fun, but after a while people are going to crave for a more engaging experience and Cata is the best place for that both PvP and PvE-wise. People who played tbc and wrath will return and raidlog on cata then spend the rest of their time on SoD. Retail is utter trash which no one here wants, and cata brings a ton of quality of life improvements, such as no longer needing to do 10 mans anymore, that will bring a lot of people who had previously quit due to the roster boss back. RBGs, arguably the best PvP state besides mop, guild rewards, some of the best raids in the game, no shared lockouts, new race/class combos, transmog, account wide mounts/pets, etc. This isn't even touching upon further improvements/changes they've said they will be adding. Many people also have an incredibly ignorant view on cata when spoken about in the context of SoD. SoD is a very accessible and casual friendly game with quick raids. It is incredibly easy to raidlog on wotlk/cata and then play sod with the rest of your time, there is absolutely no reason to pit them against each other.
While I agree with you, I have to correct you in one place: Wrath has the most Chars! logged per week. In retail, alting isn’t such a big thing. Retail has probably more active raiders than Wrath but yeah SoD is not even close to it especially if you consider that there is literally nothing to do but to level to 25 and make a new char

My first expansion. God I sunk countless hours into this. Got the achievement for getting burned to death by Deathwing. I did it all. 31 now, was 18 then. Gods I was strong
Cata has great raids/dungeons, solid class changes, fun quest/leveling updates, amazing new zones and zone revamps.
The only thing I disliked about cata was the length of the final patch.

The good thing is that the majority of people that won't be playing Cata are either Arthas widows or hard Classic players, and let's be honest, most of those players have no skill, which means that we'll only have the average/good players in dungeons/raids/Arenas/BGs so it will be a healthly competition.

Major cope
Cata was the end for me. Played it through for two years. I know it inside out. The dungeons and raids were Ok (better than MoP IMO) but the game itself was changed in ways I really didn't like. Classes began to homogenise. Balance became the primary consideration rather than gameplay fun. The world I loved for the previous 6 years was gone. No desire to play it again. I'm back to the beginning again next time they do a decent refresh
Worst parts about cataclysm:
Changing up the old world
Phasing where stuff just appears right in front of your face as you walk in
Last raid sucked
Talent trees were made worse
That's about all I can think of. Everything else is a positive.
Changing up the old world to be more damaged because Deathwing fucked the world made sense. And it made it more exciting to level alts
Phasing atleast fixed the "your friend can't help you because he finished the quest already" thing or vice versa
Last raid was magnificent besides the last boss. The patch just lasted ages so people got traumatized
Talent trees were made less "yay level up.. Oh just 1% more crit or 1% more hit, 5% more dmg on wrath" - condensing the trees was fine and made it more exciting to actually commit a point into something meaningful. Yes you still have fillers but it was less cluttered with shit

I have never raided, just some dungeons for quests. I like the outdoors, solo questing, exploring, i love flying of course and Cataclysm it's the BEST PvE expansion.
Cata is up there for me cause it was my 1st xpac starting from the begining. I started playing Wow in Og wrath at TOGC and was 16. Also alot of the classes feel really good . Loving my shaman and hunter feels so good with focus finally. Might be my favorite version of hunter. Also sad they didnt give us the pre patch event i remember it being so fun.

Sorry, but I'll likely go to Twow. I've noticed that Blizzard now requires a social contract to play. If some poor baby can't cope with being called on BS, too bad.
Cash flow can be fixed in a simple way, make it 50% extra gold drop but only from NPCs killed inside max level raids with your guild. problem fixed - guild reparis on and the classic gold farmers will not benefit from it because they are too "potato" to farm max level raids anyways.
well, there's definetly 2 kind of opinions for cata... for people who used to play back in the day, i'd say they are mostly uninterested in it.
The people who didn't play back then in day, are probably more excited.
For me personally, i hated the world revamp and the destruction of my beloved barrens.. it was when i quit wow and came back just for 1 month during shadowlands after that.
Cataclysm is also the beggining of "Retail" and the end of "classic"... so i don't know how much sense it makes to release it.
I mean if cataclysm classic is coming, it is safe to assume that shadowlands classic is also coming.. eventually.
The classic theme should end with Wrath of the lich king... after that, they should either go back to vanila ( fresh) all the way to lich king again, in a 4 year+ circle or just keep it in wotlk icecrown patch forever just like warmane does it.
I think what they are doing is FAR more interesting and i'd like them to spend way more resources, talent and energy on it , instead of spending manpower for something like.. retail classic bullshit.
Dragon soul is better than icc. Idgaf what people think. The ONLY reason icc is really good is because of the LK fight
idk imo cata isn't gonna be nearly as popin as past classic was. Don't get me wrong if you wanna raid in cata you 100% will be fine finding that raiding guild to join. but, that line of classic is past it's peak 100%. Looking at my server bene it peaked out around 35k in wotlk and now just a couple months into icc it's dropped down to 12k. i expect this to continue to drop as we get closer to cata and my bet is at the start cata on bene will not peak past 20k pop and it will only drop day after day from there. Cata will quickly turn into a smaller overall population who is just largely raid logging. I see SOD as being really the future of everything classic wow related. Just look at some of the video from scottejaye he does a SOD video it gets 30k views. while, he does a cata video and it gets 6k views.
Cata was good. LFR blows, i hope they keep it away from classic. Played retail recently, the big problem with LFR, it just makes me not interested in doing the raid in an organized group, on normal heroic or mythic, when its just so easy to queue and peew

WOTLK starting to suck. Cannot join raids because I dont know anyone and am a single player. So I cannot get better gear. I am basicaly finished with the game

I just want to see if they're going to make class adjustments like they did in Wrath. There is a massive rift between the worst DPS and the best DPS, to the point where meta classes being required will be worse than ever especially with the same gear dropping in ten man as 25 man.
SoD is a massive disappointment. Its vanilla with other spells, bfd sucks and ashenvale looks boring. Next phase? Yeah instead of ashenvale its gonna be stv and people will have to raid gnomer. The worst is, its seasonal.. i aint got time to waste on a char thats gonna get deleted in 7-8 months from now (and dont tell me about era.. thats not a valid solution). Bring cata and bring it fast, we cant have dying wotlk last for another 3 or 4 months
Tbh my biggest annoyance to this day was them giving paladins Holy power. I hate it so much lol. That being said I went from super casual here and there retail to classic no life then sod now im back to retail and for sure there are some exciting things in cata but I'm so torn on what to prio other than just having fun D:. Cata is fantastic for many reasons. The class balance was very well done, the raids and talents were fun. But its also when Azeroth changed and became retail. Cata is closer to retail than it is to classic. I hate hate hate transmog and I hate the new Azeroth. I love the class changes but I just think if you are playing Cata, you might as well play retail.
This expansion is why I quit Wow the first time. Absolutely zero interest in this dumpster fire expansion.

Because they're literally classic things? None of these things are even remotely retail-like. Why do you "love" sod if it was retail abilities in it by your logic? WOTLK is classic, TBC was classic, and cata is classic, hence "cata classic".
tbh even small guilds didnt have a problem to get the daily guild exp done. we were a 10 man raid guild back then with maybe 20 people in it and we got no problem to get it done. at the point when everyone is done with the main equipping and leveling and gearing their alts they are playing the guild is pretty much level 25

with worgen you forgot to mention that dark flight (their sprint) stacks ontop of other movement speed stuff (if i recall) so if you're a druid and you dash, you can gain more speed from dark flight ontop of it (so macro'ing them together is worth)

in cata, a healer who is at least pre-raid bis geared that oom's is just a bad healer, or has a vary crappy tank, or stupid dps who think they are tanks.
Cata is from ok to good expansion it’s not better than wotlk because of some systems but wotlk started some bad systems that started the beginning of the end
All of these are great additions to the game imo. Guild leveling system in particular I am not even sure why they removed it later on in retail. Maybe it made it so its even harder to start guilds or something. But being in a guild earning all those perks and heirlooms and stuff was pretty fun.
I would add transmog to the list as well. Just added so much content that you could do in the game that gets expanded whenever they add new sets in future raids. And you are also not doomed to look like a clown just because your bis list says so.
