I agree, it does an especially good job of making up for the fact that Steve has a very small overall roll in the movie by managing to still represent his full character.
@Casanova Frankenstein thanos fucking half heartedly waving his hands at that point to destroy the avengers. you really think he was truly trying? it was very clearly conveyed that thanos wasn't really trying, nor did he need to at that point.

I really enjoyed this list, because it's very different from your typical MCU-rankings. Mine would've been completely different, but that's what's great about these sort of lists. Biggest upset imo: Thor Ragnarok being "low" and under Thor 1 and others. I couldn't quite resonate with that. Biggest agreement: Great to see some love for GOTG Vol. 2. AND an acknowledgement of the fact that it's incredibly emotional. Kudos! Now, may I ask, where Ant-Man And The Wasp belongs on here?

I didn't know the scene in which Hela destroyed Mjolnir was originally supposed to be in an alleyway because it definitely isn't an alleyway in the movie.
Interesting take on the list, definitely a different perspective on Iron Man 3 and Thor than I've seen talked about. Cap's movies are absolutely amazing

Largely agree with the list and thought that Winter Soldier wasn’t appreciated enough, but that also Thor 2 was also vastly under appreciated. I think some films had a “bigger picture” need (pardon the pun) to introduce a new element or value to the MCU, and I think Thor 2 had to become a lot more “dark” and serious, as the first (also excellent film) was quite a fun romp. Thor has arguably the most tragic arc in the MCU (at least until Iron Man’s demise) and it deals with difficult losses in a more adult and serious way, with very subtle and clever humour deftly woven in. E.g. hanging up Mjolnir on a hook. Bringing in that “soul stone” was important and it was good to see the English link and a different sense of peril to another part of the world (ironically the literal centre of time, at least on this planet). Ant Man was also surprisingly low and I felt this was the vehicle needed to bring in a new type of humour/levity that would fit Paul Rudd, and later make Ragnarok’s humour seem less forced. (Although this may not have been intentional). I think Infinity War will stand the test of time as being the best of the whole MCU though, Endgame was just a bit too much fan service where Infinity War had a real sense of peril and loss, and felt more like an Empire Strikes Back compared to Return of the Jedi.
I cringed a bit from seeing some movies beating out others, and for some reason cringed the hardest when GotG was beaten by Vol. 2, even though it was only by one spot. Overall though, thinking about the movies, this list is very akin to my own, if only there were a few changes like putting Ant Man above Incredible Hulk and putting Black Panther above Iron Man 3. Small changes, but overall this is pretty accurate for a person like me.
Infinity War is My personal choice for number 1, truly a fantastic movie that contains everything great about the MCU in one glorious package. Not to mention it easily has the best villain.
I almost completely agree with his top 5. I’ve always had BOTH Guardians films in the top 5. And the Winter Solider and Infinity War have always been 1 and 2 for me. I’d probably just put End Game where he had civil war. Civil War would be perfect, if it wasn’t for the corny airport scene that didn’t belong in that movie.
At first I was upset Dr Strange ranked so low, but then I saw Iron Man 3 broke the top 10 and then I understood none of this was to be taken seriously 🤷♂️
"(Thanos is) equal parts intimidating and vulnerable, in away that a fully CGI creation has never been in quite the same way before" Gollum and Davy Jones: Uh, RXCUSE YOU?
i still think this went a touch beyond those - just because of screentime if nothing else. thanos carries the movie. gollum and jones are incredible but real actors carry those movies. granted, thanos would never have happened without them
The best movies on merits are Winter Soldier, Black Panther, and Age of Ultron. Pretty much every cool thing to happen in the MCU after Ultron was seeded in that movie.
I hate to admit it but Civil War is as overrated as Black Panther. That movie's plot was pretentious and the only thing that was great was the action scene where we see Black Panther for the first time (the chase for Bucky Barnes).
I'm going to give my ranking of the MCU movies 20. The Incredible Hulk 19. Thor the Dark World 18. Iron Man 2 17. Thor 16. Iron Man 3 15. Captain America: The First Avenger 14. Avengers: Age of Ultron 13. Ant Man 12. Iron Man 11. Doctor Strange 10. Ant Man and the Wasp 09. Spider-Man Homecoming 08. Avengers 07. Black Panther 06. Thor Ragnarok 05. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 04. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 03. Guardians of the Galaxy 02. Captain America; Civil War 01. Avengers: Infinity War
My ranking 1. Infinity War 2. Spider-Man Homecoming 3. Captain America Civil War 4. Guardians of the galaxy 5. Thor Ragnarok 6. Black Panther 7. Captain America the First Avenger 8. Guardians of the galaxy vol 2 9. Captain America the Winter Soldier 10. Ant Man 11. Marvel’s the Avengers 12. Iron Man 13. Age of Ultron 14. Doctor Strange 15. Iron Man 3 16. Thor 17. Iron Man 2 18. Thor the Dark World 19. The Incredible Hulk Endgame would be 1st Ant Man and the Wasp would be 13th Captain Marvel would be 9th
I think civil war stepped up on everything winter soldier did well and winter soldier wasnt a twist because i watched agents of shield first. :-( but now captain marvel has the best twist in the mcu
Iron Man 3 cracks the top 10 for you? That Mandarin twist ruined the film for me, especially because Killian was awful. I think I'd swap BP for IM3 on this list. Overall though, it's pretty solid.
I remember fighting with a friend of mine over which Spider-Man was the better one: Andrew Garfield or Toby Maguire. We got really into it and we were about to start shouting when one friend asked what we thought of Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Anyway we both look at each other and then agree that Tom Holland truly is the best Spider-Man out of all of them. He combines the quirky nerd that Toby Maguire portrayed with the accuracy to the comics from Andrew Garfield.
Funny how his top 3 are the 3 films the Russo's have directed. I expect Endgame to be up there with them as well. Them bros got some mad directing skills.
I can't believe you put Thor: Ragnorok and Dr. Strange so low, put the Hulk above Ant Man, and put Guardians Vol. 2 above Vol. 1. You are an evil person for thinking these things because they contradict my opinions, and I am the sole arbiter of truth in this world.
@@mvtto Stupidest shit I've ever heard. I don't like my movies with characters who are not supposed to be riddled and fucked with comedy when they aren't supposed to. You have Guardians for that. THEY actually do it right and with good reason
No. It's not even close. Infinity War has no "No, I am your Father" moment that will be quoted for eternity. It's villain is nowhere near as iconic as Darth Vader. It's not a fair comparison. Infinity War is great, but it's great with the context that it is built from an already tremendously popular cemented fantasy universe decades old with literally thousands of stories and volumes of content to draw upon. The Empire Strikes back was just a sequal to a hit movie at the time, there is no comparison. The Empire Strikes Back is still being talked about 40 years later as one of the most iconic cinematic masterpieces of all time. Infinity War is great, but it isn't anywhere near the same cultarally impactful masterpiece that was The Empire Strikes Back. I don't even like Star Wars that much, the first 3 were dope, the prequals were ok, and the current sequals are trash.
The problem with War Machine is that he was never created to be Iron Man's clone, he was created to replace Iron Man. If they had focused on that story arc he would be a much more interesting character.
7:52 Why would you even say that? Oh wait. I know why. You're anti-human, right?! I for one love the fact that Tony Stark wrecked Ultron. It was such a delicious subversion of the ole man vs machine trope. And I love the fact that Ironman bodied The Hulk... The Hulk vs The Hulkbuster is the one and only saving grace of Avengers: Age of Ultron... And that's not just because it was a well choreographed fight. But because it was a well-told story... The Hulk is on a rampage. In a highly-populated city of innocent men, women and children. And Iron-Man is the only Avenger... Who is able to answer the call, to action... Come on, now. You have to admit... That's makes for one hell of a fight promotion, now doesn't it?! The Hulk vs Hulkbuster is what Superman vs Doomsday should have been...
Pretty good list, give or take. I'd put GOTG2 at the bottom of my list for sure (even though I do understand yours personal connection). And Infinity War is the best one...by far...if you are a fan. It's not a stand alone movie and it was never meant to be (as you mentioned). But for a fan that re-watched most of the MCU movies before going to see Infinity War, that's a total winner by far. I still cannot believe someone could pull off something like that. Not just from the comic book movies point, the writers and the directors. It's unbelievable to me how the movie is so well put together. I wish they would all got some awards for that, seriously.
Personally I put TIH at the bottom, but I completely understand that it's opinion in this case, as both TDW and TIH are going to be low on 99% of people's lists. That said, Thor represents the central conflict in the series, while IM and CA represent the conflict within the team. If Thor's good, then everything else is good. It's partially why I think Avengers was good, and AOU underperformed.
He's all over the place with bad placing here and a lot of his exposition is simply his own opinion rather than anything grounded in the reality of these movies. Placing Guardians 1 & 2 back to back so high ...? Putting Thor in the top 10 ...? (and leaving Ragnarok out of the top 10?) The love affair with all things Captain America apparently ..? Ant-Man at 17th ...? Hulk is too high. Black Panther is too low. Winter Soldier is a great MCU movie but is top 10, not top 5. He has Hulk ahead of Dr. Strange here as well as fucking Ant-Man, which he thinks sucks apparently (fyi - Ant-Man belongs either tail end of top 10 or somewhere in the 11-13 ranks). I thought Dr. Strange wasn't the greatest either but it was definitely better than The Incredible Hulk. Guardians Vol 1 was way better than Vol 2. I would keep Guradians Vol 1 int he top 5 maybe (or possibly 6,7 ish) but Vol 2 is outside the top 10. Original Iron Man is always top 5. This movie started off the MCU, was a great story, a great movie, and a great superhero movie. Top 5 should be (not necessarily this order) Iron Man, Captain America Civil Was, Avengers Assemble, Thor Ragnarok and Captain America Winter Soldier.
Wait a minute, you put GotG 2 above Homecoming, GotG 1, Black Panther, AND Iron Man 1? I agree wholeheartedly with you on Winter Soldier, though. That was a masterpiece.
Halfway through GOTG2, I just drifted deep into thought about anything BUT the movie itself because I became bored halfway through it. The movi'e's alright.
@@darthmalgus232 Vol. 2 has a great beginning and end, but the second act is very clunky and the different character's plots gain monentum at drastically different paces giving whiplash to viewers. Its great, but far from perfect. Very emotional
GOG 2 had some great scenes, better than GOG 1, but overall GOG 1 was just better balanced. That said. I loved the Yondu/Rocket scenes. Had me a lot more emotionally invested than Ego/Starlord.
I personally think guardians of the galaxy one is definitely another good movie that shows the beginning of characters and their developments. Guardians of the galaxy volume two is more of a fun comedy film. I always think that there’s one movie that is serious and another one that can be fun and enjoyable. For volume three a bit more dark and serious hopefully.
I didn't miss Edgar Wright as the writer/director behind "Ant-Man". And I'm getting sick and tired of people claiming that his film would have been better, without having seen what he would have done. This is arrogant BS to me.
True, but I do think if it was meant to be it would’ve happened. The Ant-Man movie we got wasn’t bad & was a solid entry and although Edgar Wright’s version could’ve been better, I think he’s got such a recognisable directorial style that it might’ve clashed with the MCU’s consistent unified style of movies that they’ve put out. I mean it’s all good imaging it and thinking it’d be great because we’re Edgar Wright fans, but it is difficult to tangibly picture an Ant-Man film both Edgar Wright & MCU style in my mind. I think because it didn’t work out too, that the Edgar Wright thing was just perhaps a naive fantasy & realistically would’ve happened if the idea was so great but considering it didn’t happen, we probably got the better movie with the non-Edgar Wright directed flick.
Ryan Barr Just in that minute clip I could already sense the Edgar Wright signature stylings lol. Especially with the sounds of heavy action music, punches, window smashing, etc coming to an abrupt halt by interrupted by the calm ding of an elevator lol. That’s that classic Edgar Wright humour led by visual & aural cues rather than dialogue & punchlines But yeah, that scene looked cool I won’t lie

Glad you rated Thor so high. I don't think people appreciate how absurdly tough making an alien techno viking running across rainbow laser bridges to teleport to alien worlds to battle frost giants is. How Kenneth Brannagh managed to take that material and not make it stupidly bad but made it pretty good. That's a feat.
One issue though, he did all of that fine. What screwed the movie was Jane Foster and coming to Earth, which puts it below Thor Ragnarok. So I have to disagree with him massively on that part. That said I rank Thor higher than most people do. I put it about midpack.
Ocek In terms of raw film quality? Yeah Thor’s weak. And it certainly has a mediocre 3rd act. But I give points to Thor the same way I give points to the first Avengers. Sometimes just being the first to pull off something stupidly difficult is worthy of praise. Even if the movie doesn’t stand the test of time. It’s like how you don’t give the Wright Bros plane crap for being a primitive aircraft. You praise it for being the first to actually work.
The only problem is that you don't pick the wright brother's plane and rank it somewhere between the SR-71 and the Concord, so you should probably pick a better analogy. Anyways, the reason why Thor ranks higher than other MCU movies, imo, is the fact that it has a complete story arc and a believable character transition. Thor makes one of the most radical character transitions in the entire MCU, and that can be held up by its own merits.
@@ocek2744 Actually you can. If your criteria's not just raw quality but also its impact on cinema. Which matters. Blazing Saddles for it's time had a ton of humor that was taboo at the time but comes across as tame now. Thor is worthy of praise because it also validated Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant man and Thanos. Because if shit as absurd and silly as Thor's story works, then they would as well. Despite what folks think, Feige wasnt some master planner, he admits he winged alot of upcoming stuff.
ur clearly a kid who gets excited to see blood in a movie. its way to over praised for what it is. i have watched it 3 times and still think thats it is not that great compared to most movies its not even close to dark knight

Yeah, I am ok with this list. Your explanations makes sense and I was surprised to find that I agreed with some movie placements when I originally had them ranked differently.
I disagree about Thanos being the first fully realised CG character. Rocket literally had me tearing up in guardians 2, and when he was talking to Thor in infinity war you could quite clearly understand his character progression.
The first two acts of Iron Man are really good. But that average third acts is what stops it from being a great movie. It’s still in the top 10, but it’s been pushed out the top 5 ages ago
joe clark It is my personal opinion however I believe that Black Panther was just very slow paced and the CGI was not good compared to other MCU movies. I don’t hate the movie but it’s not a top 5 mcu movie like people say. I would have Winter Soldier, Infinity War, Civil War, Ragnorok, Avengers 1, Iron Man 1 all above Black Panther. Maybe even Doctor Strange but they’re about even
Ok I like the list for different takes. I must object to Thor and Black Panther. They should be swapped. Yes BP is overrated and it took me a couple viewings to see it's core flaws and adjust my own list accordingly. However, Thor is simply underwhelming this character did not find his identity to me until Ragnarok. Also the direction was rough imo in that movie. Loki is a solid villain but overrated to me personally. BP has two solid villains that deserved more screen time. Shuri is great every time on screen and the action is shot very well albeit the final act fights have too much CGI. Overall, BP is a top 10 Marvel movie easy. Thor introduced a great character, however it's the following films that make him into the character we all enjoy.
I dunno, a techno viking running across a rainbow bridge and battling giant beings made of frost is pretty hard to bring to life and make entertaining. I think it's better than BP.
@@blankupai ah yes. Oscar nominated Black Panther that made 1.3 billion at the box office is a 5/10. Ok mate. Before you say those things don't matter, it's clearly a film with style, good world building with an amazing soundtrack.
I loved Ragnarok, but the one issue I had with it was the fact that Asgard, a staple of the MCU, met its end in such a flippant manner. It was the equivalent of being at a funeral and saying "Aw, what a shame, but never mind. Wanna play Xbox?"
You echoed my thoughts on Ultron perfectly. He's just evil Tony Stark, when he could've been an absolutely menacing villain. I think that Spader was cast well, we got a glimpse of how he could've played the role when Ultron first manifests in Avengers Tower. But what we had after that left much to be desired.
"Ultron ends up accomplishing nothing" LMAO WHAT? He destroys an entire city, killing thousands of people and causing Zemo to seek revenge. As well as the Sokovia accords which is what causes Civil war. Hulk and Thor also left the team after the events. He killed Quicksilver, Strucker, and made Ulysses a billionaire (as well as chopping off his arm)
Im really surprised by some of this (I actually love both Black Panther and Ant-Man) but I also agree with a lot of this, specifically Winter Soldier at No.1 and I also prefer Guardians 2 over part 1! But regardless, you very well laid out your reasoning behind this list and I'd be curious to know where you would now sort Captain Marvel and Ant-Man 2 (and then also Endgame after we've seen it)!
Am I the only one who loves Thor: The Dark World? 😭 I like it because it has stakes. When the Queen/ Mother died, it boosted Thor, Loki and Odin. What I don't like are the Earth scenes.
I totally agree (I wrote a bit of a rant about it above!!). There is obviously some subjective element to the list (as Full Phat acknowledged) but some of the tone and content was needed to stay a bit dark, with genuine loss in it (possibly the biggest in the MCU so far??)
I know for a fact that I've watched Captain America the Winter Soldier at least 20 times. I have to assume, that the first Avengers movie, is right up there in terms of re-watch occasions as well.

Grace Berlin guardians 2 below iron man 2 and ultron?? I’m genuinely curious as to your reasoning, GOtG2 is easily top 5 at the least to me. Love the soundtrack and the characters are incredible- all of the guardians are perfect and the yondu, nebula and ego were great too. The end gets me choked up every time i watch it. Also curious as to how low the first cap is, I thought it was pretty good. Not amazing, but definitely not a thor dark world.
I put infinity war #1 based on experience alone. I was on an emotional rollercoaster when I watched it the 1st time. From start to finished the movie never let go. I was literally traumatized by the opening scene and intimidated by thanos and the blackorder. I was completely tensed during the NY and Train battle. And devastated to see iron man as he neared his death but then relieved when Strange bargained for his life. And the ending left me restless.

I don't trust anyone who puts Black Panther so low on their list. Whatever flaws it has are eclipsed by its strengths. T'Challa's character arc is great. Killmonger is a great villain. I legitimacy don't understand the CGI whining since it was good. The supporting cast, and all the acting really, were excellent. It had emotional moments, a thought-provoking ending, and it was overall just a great story on its own. Yes, it had pacing problems, and they did the villain fake-out so Killmonger didn't get as much screen time as he might have otherwise, but this was a film to subvert expectations. Generic Villain? No, instead it was a product of his father's failed leadership, which shaped T'Challa's character progression. At the end of the day it's a good story, with a compelling lead with a good character arc, expertly acted and beautifully presented. How that doesn't crack your top 10 is just beyond me.
We all know why. It's subtle and they might not even mean it, but we all know why this movie gets so much dislike despite being one of the highest grossing MCU films and one of the most talked about for months (besides Infinity War).
Winter Soldier is just so damn good. Even my mum loved it and she doesn't even know English that well... it's trilling, great pacing, great twist, great character developments... the relationship btwn Cap and Bucky just drawn you in so well and everything else that happens on the background complements it... Solid 5/7
So your points on doctor strange where completely bull... where is this ‘underdeveloped love story’ you so casually mention, and how is this Sherlock with spell there’s barely any contrast between he two characters apart from the actor.
Completely disagree. Thor: The Dark World is much better than Iron Man 2, Incredible Hulk, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and the first Captain America. There's a lot of depth to the Dark World. Plus Ant-Man and Black Panther are too low and Civil War is way too high.

At first I was upset Dr Strange ranked so low, but then I saw Iron Man 3 broke the top 10 and then I understood none of this was to be taken seriously 🤷♂️
"(Thanos is) equal parts intimidating and vulnerable, in away that a fully CGI creation has never been in quite the same way before"
Gollum and Davy Jones: Uh, RXCUSE YOU?
i still think this went a touch beyond those - just because of screentime if nothing else. thanos carries the movie. gollum and jones are incredible but real actors carry those movies. granted, thanos would never have happened without them
The best movies on merits are Winter Soldier, Black Panther, and Age of Ultron.
Everything else < Thor Ragnarok [
It's like asking us which of our children we love the most.
I’d move Ant-Man up higher. I liked it a lot.

20. The Incredible Hulk
19. Thor the Dark World
18. Iron Man 2
17. Thor
16. Iron Man 3
15. Captain America: The First Avenger
14. Avengers: Age of Ultron

06. Thor Ragnarok
05. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
04. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
03. Guardians of the Galaxy
02. Captain America; Civil War
01. Avengers: Infinity War

3. Captain America Civil War
4. Guardians of the galaxy
5. Thor Ragnarok

13. Age of Ultron
14. Doctor Strange
15. Iron Man 3
16. Thor
17. Iron Man 2
18. Thor the Dark World
19. The Incredible Hulk
Endgame would be 1st
Ant Man and the Wasp would be 13th
Captain Marvel would be 9th
I think civil war stepped up on everything winter soldier did well and winter soldier wasnt a twist because i watched agents of shield first. :-( but now captain marvel has the best twist in the mcu
I’d defo bump up Doctor Strange and Thor Ragnarok.
This has to be the most messed up MCU ranking ever.
infinity war is better than endgame. Facts
Yes...mainly because we love Thanos lol
Yes.
Iron Man 3 cracks the top 10 for you? That Mandarin twist ruined the film for me, especially because Killian was awful.
I think I'd swap BP for IM3 on this list. Overall though, it's pretty solid.
I absolutely love you man, thankyou for saying Black Panther was overrated. Holy shit, I thought I was the only one who thought that

Absolutely it is. Infinity War is our generation's Empire Strikes Back.
ODANNEK I’ve always thought that this must be what it felt like when Star Wars first came out
Except for when Empire first came out it was hated sooo
I agree
LOL!!!

Full Fat Videos agreed
I very much disagree with your list, good video though

That's because G2 was horrible. It was like a fucking cartoon.
Ugh. Typical father-knower.
Getting rid of Edgar wright for ant man is the biggest missed opportunity marvels ever had.
Agreed
I didn't miss Edgar Wright as the writer/director behind "Ant-Man". And I'm getting sick and tired of people claiming that his film would have been better, without having seen what he would have done. This is arrogant BS to me.
I really enjoyed antman, but this footage from Edgar wrights version seems pretty cool
ruclips.net/video/Z-pFrplmexo/видео.html
That’s that classic Edgar Wright humour led by visual & aural cues rather than dialogue & punchlines
But yeah, that scene looked cool I won’t lie

No the Incredible Hulk is
Thor Dark world is
Glad you rated Thor so high. I don't think people appreciate how absurdly tough making an alien techno viking running across rainbow laser bridges to teleport to alien worlds to battle frost giants is. How Kenneth Brannagh managed to take that material and not make it stupidly bad but made it pretty good. That's a feat.
The fact that Thor is such a gamble has definitely been underplayed with time. Theres no way we could have gotten Ragnarok without it
One issue though, he did all of that fine.

Yes, very sad...
Anyway-
You echoed my thoughts on Ultron perfectly. He's just evil Tony Stark, when he could've been an absolutely menacing villain. I think that Spader was cast well, we got a glimpse of how he could've played the role when Ultron first manifests in Avengers Tower. But what we had after that left much to be desired.
The only one that i strongly disagree with is your rating on Thor, its very meh movie, definitely not top 10
"Ultron ends up accomplishing nothing"
LMAO WHAT? He destroys an entire city, killing thousands of people and causing Zemo to seek revenge. As well as the Sokovia accords which is what causes Civil war. Hulk and Thor also left the team after the events. He killed Quicksilver, Strucker, and made Ulysses a billionaire (as well as chopping off his arm)
Comparing to his ultimate goal - he did achieve nothing. He was more ambitious than that :)
Youd sure think he killed thousands but according to dialogue in civil war only 2 or 3 hundred people died in avengers 1 and 2
He said in his movie.
Which is true in his own movie all he raise the stakes.

Solid 5/7
Top 5 is
1: Avengers: Infinity War
2: Captain America: Civil War
3: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
4: Black Panther
5: The Avengers
Yes! Another person who agrees that the winter soldier is the best marvel film!
I always thought of the Cap movies and the Avengers movies as their own series while still connecting to the other dozen movies
The winter soldier is nimber one for sure
So your points on doctor strange where completely bull... where is this ‘underdeveloped love story’ you so casually mention, and how is this Sherlock with spell there’s barely any contrast between he two characters apart from the actor.
I too think Doctor Strange should be places MUCH higher. I put him as number 5 in my list
@@annakunken7270 I'll put it at 10

“No one cares about the comic book mandorin” well this is awkward
Infinity War is the equivalent to the Empire Strikes Back of this generation...
