Understand your dilemma and caution; however remember the authorities have to be more cautious than you and they are more likely to be sued for bad advice! As a skipper you take everything into consideration and take the most intelligent course. Well done!
You need to sell the movie rights to this story. You couldn’t script better drama. The highs and lows are all there. Twists and turns every which way. Best line yet by Holly “why is everyone going backwards?” It pretty much describes your whole trip doesn’t it? Fingers crossed for a happy ending🤞
This brings back memories of our exit from Luperon! We had several boats ready to sail towards Samana and the Navy did the same thing to us. Finally they released us to sail East. Good luck getting your Despacho and safe sailing to Miami!
Goodness , did not think it would be so difficult to leave! 🤞🤞🤞 you can go Thursday early enough, I’m surprised you have to be locked into the show 3 days before it starts ! Annapolis show it’s just the day before when I took a boat in . W
Unfortunately the Armada in the DR can close ports for weather. Glad they are working with you as the weather window Thursday thru Sunday is looking good as the wind clocks around. Safe Travels! ⛵
bon, J+1...je vois que vous venez de quitter lupéron avec un vent de N NE au 25; voila une excellente fenetre pour bombarder vers the channel au dessus de cuba...i cross fingers for you..have a good sail
They can stop you from leaving???? I understand the 'we don't want to send rescue helicopters after you', but it's not blowing 60 knots with 20 meter seas. They are acting like you sailing an open canoe. WTF.
Oh! I just looked at the Predict Wind on your website. The predicted wind is ~20 knots from the North and you'll encounter the Gulf Stream going East (North of Cuba) and then going North nearer Miami. Going upwind in a 20 knot wind against a 3-4-5 knot current is going to be sporty. Awen slammed in the short choppy seas of the Med going to Gibraltar. It won't be a fun ride. Going East of the Bahamas would avoid the Gulf Stream, but would take too long, I guess.
😂🤣 wth, needing permission to leave, just pick up the hook and set off. What are they going to do, chase you down and tow you back in. US immigration wouldn’t care that you didn’t get stamped out 🤷♂️
LOL! Holly "why is everyone going backwards?" Perfect description of the experiences on some of the small island countries.
Ahhhh the familiar sights and sounds of Pooperon! 😊

Hurry up and wait!! Relax you've got this 😊
Sounds like “Les Douze Travaux d’Astérix” Steph should know this. 😁
Who's writing the script for this season? There's certainly more cliffhangers than your average show!
Some kind of higher power with an epic imagination!

Enough with the drama…our hearts can’t cope…….just go back to the French islands, find a PC in the back of a shop somewhere and chill!

@@JRTurgeon13 By the time we get to the gulf stream the wind should be SE so it should be ok.
