Good video. The best Sailing Vlog videos IMHO are those with a more honesty, humility, teaching/sailing tips/ pitfalls, experiences, maintenance and repairs, sights (sites) and sounds, fishing and amazing views of the natural world; and less time with the sailors' faces all over the screen.
Big relief!! We saw the land finally ❤ What a hard natural condition you are in! The only experts could make it ! You guys don’t look like scared any more even in such big waves, strong squalls. Very calmly managing what to do !!!! Amazing to us!!!
Great educational stuff you two. We are picking up our balance 442 in October then sail back to Phuket. So really enjoying learning from what you've already learnt. Xx
Thanks guys. You are an inspiration to those of us that are moving onto a boat soon. Thank you. 👍🏻 😊 Looking forward to the rest of your passage to the Tuamotus' and the Maraquesas'. See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
Sorry, we meant apparent wind speed of 21, AWA for our boat are up to 35 in flat water, then we start going sideways 😂. Thanks for your comment and for watching
There hasn't been a Cyclone in years so it's totally safe? No logic in that. There are no safe harbours in the Marquesas. I have sailed across the Pacific four times and I am never going to spend the Cyclone season there.
Thank you for watching and for your comment. I agree with you that there is no safe harbor; however most cruisers going west through the pacific, who want to spend more than a season in FP, choose the Marquesas as the less of evils😊. Historically there has never been a system with winds over 65kn in the Marquesas. We have lived through 2 hurricanes ( cat 2 and 3 ) in Florida with our boat in the water and 65kn is a little breeze 😂😂
Ok so I understand you are probably already there by now (2/2/24), But doesn't you ETA get calculated from the GPS and is based on your SOG (Speed over ground,Speed over globe)? This would be continually calculated of course so not always an accurate figure, but it saves having to get the calculator out. Ok, so yes, you are right, you do need to predict (have a rough figure) when you're going to get there to book births, etc. especially if your expecting a cyclone that way you have a birth to pull into asap. I just think the GPS is going to be more accurate at any point in time. Are there no mangrove areas where you are these often have creeks that are great to hide in during a storm as you can tie off the yacht to various mangrove trunks to all 4 corners of the boat. No doubt you know all this by now anyhow, sorry. You could be adventurous and head south (but undoubtedly you've already made your decision! LOL. ) to New Zealand. The Bay of Islands is a great sailing ground. I'll, shut up now watch the rest of your episode. I'm so glad your autopilot ram is going well. Fabio it might be an idea to re-torque the bolts again after a passage- control for any movement. I a squall I'd get the buckets out and soak all the lines that are lying around in nice fresh water. Any spare buckets can make for a good cleaning of the decks while there is the rain to wash salt and grime away! I'm glad you made it safely and that you are now feeling all better with the opportunity of having some solid ground under your feet. 👍🤣 Fair 💨's and Following 🌊's.
Thank you, yes, we like to calculate the AWA and AWS prior to departure to get an idea our predicted speed, reefs and if we will need to tack a bunch of times. It is pretty theoretical and all plans go away when Neptune changes idea😂. Thanks for your suggestions as always
Thanks for the prompt reply. My apologies, I often start to watch one of your videos each week and within minutes I see something I just have to question or make a comment. Of course, if I could only wait and watch the whole video, I'd often find out what you've planed or had to do to fix an issue. I need to learn to keep my keyboard shut and just bide my time. 🤣 and let you present your story. I'm glad to see your sail went well. Hopefully you won't meet any cyclones this season. Fair 💨's and Following 🌊's.@@HarborsUnknown
😂😂 agree!! But if you look closely it says: Harvard, because not everyone can get into Brown ( that’s where I went). This was shot before recent events and to avoid confusion the shirt has been retired 😊

Pretty late in the season for that passage. Looks like it's going to be a bumpy ride!
Yes it was! Unfortunately we had to stay in Tahiti longer than planned to have our rigging replaced. 😒

Thank you! 🙌🙌🙌
And sweet Yoda❤
❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️
The 1600 is probably the best boat Seawind has produced, the shallow draft has to make life less stressful.
We think so too!! 💪💪😊
The joys of sailing !!! Looking at the bright side...nothing broke 😁
Exactly! So overall it was a good passage. 😂 Thanks for watching!
Did you say AWA is 21? That is impressive!
Sorry, we meant apparent wind speed of 21, AWA for our boat are up to 35 in flat water, then we start going sideways 😂. Thanks for your comment and for watching
Be Safe. 😎
Thanks Darrell! 😊
Did you get a long stay visa?
Fabio is Italian so he didn’t need a visa and I (Kristin) was able to apply for the EU Spouse visa which gave me a year. 😊
Working autopilot... nice huh..? 😉
Super fantastic!!!😊😊😂
😎👍👍👍❤
Thanks so much Thomas!! 😊😊😊
If you're not making your polars due to weight, sounds like Yoda may have to go on a diet. :(
😂😂😂 poor girl she a little shrimp!! I (Fabio) am the one who could shed a few pounds 😂😂😂

That Harvard shirt is a disgrace!
