I want to thank you for posting this video, I have an LG that would go into stand by (shut off) on its own then turn back on 7 to 10 minutes later. I re flowed and refreshed as many of the solder joints that I found looking weak. The TV now works normally! Thank you again!!!
Picked up a discarded LG 50PJ340. Set it up, plugged it in; it worked for about 15 minutes, when it simply shut down, clicked a couple of times and then never worked again for more than 5 minutes. Opened it up, cleaned up all the dust (there was plenty), no luck. Watched some videos, tried some stuff, no luck. Watched your video, visually inspected PS board, and found the exact issue shown here (cracked solder on one transformer). Resoldered that and a couple of other points. TV has now been running perfectly for a couple of hours now!! Thank you for making this video.!
Hi there, great video and agree about the lack of true fault finding skills applied by so called "Service" facilities, alleged staffed by "engineers" (lol) Board Swapping to fix a fault isn't fault finding, pure and simple!! thanks for the guidance in diagnosing my LG 42" (42LN5708) which had began to switch on and off periodically. I had seen another fix suggested in tapping the back of the TV case to supposedly dislodge dust etc from the internals that was a suggested culprit . This does make the TV work again for a while at least, however after a while, the fault returns. I dismantled the TV and carried out the re-soldering of a couple of suspect soldered pins identified as suggested underneath the transformer on the power board and the TV has been running for a couple of days now error free. I would suggest once this problem starts to show up, tapping the back of the TV to clear the dust, is in fact exacerbating the actual fault of the fractured soldered transformer pins (likely caused by thermal problems caused by repeated heat cycles from switching on/off) by causing further premature fracture of these and other poorly soldered joints. Thanks again.
I had an older lg tv (2008-2009) model it was hardly used as it was in the guest bedroom one day I turned it on and it was going crazy the volume kept going all the way up on it's own the channel's kept changing by itself and the power would click on and off randomly the problem I had found was that the side button panel went bad I cleaned it out with compressed air and I dabbed each button with a drop of mineral oil I reassembled it and everything worked fine its been about 3 years ago since I fixed it
Thanks for the informative video. Just a quick question. I have a LG UHD TV 4K. 55" I bought it from a guy for 25 bucks hoping I could perform a firmware update and have a good deal. Well I get it home and plug it in and automatically it comes on standby light flashes 2 or 3 times and the set shuts off. Then it turns back on and repeats over and over again until I unplug set. Any idea of which part I need to replace. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Alright mate, I’ve got a LG55UK6470PLC. It’s a year and a bit old about 18 months. It’s literally turning on and off. Not after 7 mins, I mean on-off-on-off. Tried to diagnose my tv but I’m non the wiser. LG are saying the repair will be 249 quid. Where are you based and how can I get this looked at ?
You seem to know what your talking about, I am finding your vids very useful and informative, but your camera work needs improvement, too much movement and panning around and zooming in and out this is most annoying, Otherwise keep up the good work , and thank you for taking the trouble to make and post these vids, hopefuly more to follow. Ray H.
I got a 55 lg doing the same thing but I've check and I don't have the same issue what else can cause it? Sorry I'm a cheap bastered and refuse to throw it away
Hey, I have an LG TV it keeps turning off and on and wont stay on but it will bring up my xbox screen for a second. So could it be this and what is this called and will it cost alot? I also got a new power cord it wouldn't work.
Very informative and you are quite a troubleshooter, but you keep swinging your camera constantly!!! Get it a tripod next time and zoom accordingly. Otherwise great troubleshooting!! Joe
Good find, common issues with mass production electronics. Man, you are all over the place with that camera and do seem to be talking a bit to much, and blow your freakin' nose man... but overall decent video.
Please help me..... My LG led computer screen when I on it seems black screen and on-off switch light blinking only but screen shows black plain.... If have you any solution please tell me or show me any demo..... Please
Just got tv out of cupboard that had stopped working, told it I was putting it in the bin, and it started working, hasn't switched off and it's been 10 mins, ad would normallyy be off after 10 seconds
Hey man, what do you reckon about this fault? ruclips.net/video/d2utOFFu7q8/видео.html My TV is an LG 50LB5610 and is having the same issue as this. I can see an image (which is perfectly formed), so the video signal and audio are fine. When the problem first started, it would go away after a few seconds, then it wouldn't and we found that turning the screen off and on again (in the energy saver mode settings) fixed it. Now it simply won't stop blinking. Factory resetting the TV doesn't fix it - I don't think it's a software issue. Greatly appreciate any advice or tests you recommend. I'm trained in electronics but have never worked on TVs.

You would think with all the money you earn fixing TVs you could afford a tripod and save us all sea sickness 😂😂😂
