  • Greetings everyone!
    Today, we have one hell of a repair that came in. It's a 58" Samsung LED TV that keeps restarting and never produces a picture according to the customer. This was not so easy to pinpoint, but after some focused troubleshooting, we find where the problem lies! I have a couple more of these faulty TVs with me that have the same exact issue, and they will be my next repair and they will be shown in my next few videos!
    Please subscribe to the channel if you like this sort of content and subscribe to all notifications to never miss a new video!
    Catch you on the next one,

      Glad to hear it worked! There is a misconception that it's always the main board or power supply at fault, but unfortunately this is not true all the time. Glad to hear it worked out for you and I hope you keep watching!

    Great to see this. I had my Samsung 55" tv for about 4 years, when the tv started to shut down and not booting up anymore.
    I used a piece of tape to isolate 3 lines on the left Flex cable, and suddenly the tv started up without any issues. I also do not see any lines or faulty colors in the screen. Problem isolated👌🏼! Might sell it because I already bought a new tv when this one broke in 2021😂.

    I dont know much about what makes an issue become a recall. Samsung should definitely put out a recall for this. I bought from Samsung a 50in Q60 flat QLED on November 16th of 2020. My 70" Samsung failed the same way. I noticed over time, before it failed, that the picture was becoming patchy. Would only really notice this if there was a program where the screen was mostly white or one colour. It was getting steadily worse. Don't know if it's connected to the final failure. It's not the first Samsung TV I've had that's failed this way, gone patchy. Anyway I have no confidence in Samsung TV's anymore and will buy a different brand to replace it. It is only 3 years old.

      I'm glad you got your TV back up and running! Unfortunately, this would be the best solution to my knowledge, and flaws like the one you see now are a result of the blocked signals. Sometimes, you get a slightly washed out picture on the side where the shorted clock signals are.

    Hi, I followed your technique, tv would restart and boot then restart , looping. I taped over 3 clock signals on the left hand side ribbon. Now the tv boots up, I can hear the chime and tv turns off and on with remote , backlight on , etc. But no picture , just I hear sound via the hdmi input . Backlight is on and tv does not boot loop anymore. Do you think my main board tcon side of it faulty or is my screen itself faulty and no matter what I tape up on the ribbon signals , still no picture but audio only! Hope you can help ?

    I have had a similar fault issue. Unfortunately the faulty clock line was on the left (when looking from behind the TV) only one cable and a smaller one going to the right hand side. Managed to get the picture to come on but after several seconds the TV goes into continuous starting up loop without any buttons being pressed. Have you come across a similar fault and if so how did you rectify it?

    • @Mr.ElectroniCET
      @Mr.ElectroniCET  3 месяца назад

      I don't think a scope is required since these should be just straight DC voltages (with maybe the exception of some with PWM signals?). To be honest, this has been a relatively new problem to me, and I haven't figured out where all the test points are. It especially doesn't help when there appears to be no service manual available for this TV.

    I have almost exactly the same television except mine is a 75 inch. Not sure if you know the answer to this (or anybody who knows about this TV) but my symptoms are that when you go to turn it on, the (Samsung) logo comes on solid at first… and then these horizontal lines develop (which chops up and dims the picture a bit)... and then the TV shuts off and goes through that cycle again.
    Usually for 10 minutes or so, it reboots, over and over again.
    When it's just about to turn on and work - and I do hear that tone from the speakers, once it gets to this point, - (which it does usually in less than 15 minutes of letting it cycle like this) you start to see the main menu screen, etc. and then the horizontal lines develop and then it shuts off ... and restarts and then FINALLY, it comes on for a few seconds (with the sound of whatever the TV show is that's playing or whatever) then, it usually goes through one more cycle... and then it stays on (and works perfectly from that point on unless you turn the TV off again).
    I'm wondering if that's a power board issue (rather than a main board issue).
    According to the seller who sold it to me, It did start occurring, just after a lightning storm.
    Do you think replacing the whole power board would do the trick in fixing it? Short of that, is there a particular part (or two) on the power board that would usually be the culprit that I could replace for a lot less money than replacing the whole power board? Even if I have to pay about 125 bucks for a new board, I think it would be worth it. It's a great TV once it stays on.
    Thanks!

    • @Mr.ElectroniCET
      @Mr.ElectroniCET  5 месяцев назад +2

      There are some small ferrite beads (if that is what they are) near the ends of the flexible PCBs on each side of the TV. From there, you can trace which lines on the ribbon correspond to which clock signals. The clock signal numbers are written on the silkscreen next to the ferrite beads.

      I know for a fact that the issue isn't with the main board or power supply. Not only does it not make sense logically, I also went through the headache of even replacing the two parts off-camera to further prove my point. Furthermore, the backlights can't be an issue because when you power up the TV without the main board connected, they should turn on without an issue, and with the majority of these TVs, this isn't an issue.

    Maybe someone here can help me I don't have the exact problem with it being stuck in a bootloop. My problem is it starts up fine works for about 5min then freezes turns off and then is stuck in a bootloop for a couple min then works fine again so it's basically a bootloop but the looping stops for about 5 min every couple min. I've replaced the powerboard which was my first idea which didn't help so I'm also thinking it's a problem with a shorted led but the long bootloop makes it harder to diagnose. If you have any idea what else it could be please let me know 🙏 :)

    I think those black things you talk about are 0 ohm resistors 1 of each clk signal you can just desolder the one malfuctioning and no need to use the capcon tape

      Not sure, since there are no schematics available, it will be hard to determine what they really are. Thanks for watching!

      Possible... I wished the service manual would be available for these newer Samsung TVs, it would help alot with these matters. Thanks for watching!

      How can I locate where the clock pin will be on the flex or where do I cut it from?

    • @Mr.ElectroniCET
      @Mr.ElectroniCET  7 месяцев назад

      @@abiodunolukosi6385 It is usually located on the flex-boards that are under the TV. On both ends of the flex-boards, there will be 8 test points for the clock signals. But, you would want to cut the clock signals on the connectors of the flex-boards like I showed in the video.

      There is a IC on the main board that is responsible for delivering all the voltages to the panel boards. I don't remember what part number it is, but it is located near the flex cable connectors. This chip might have failed and it might be causing the TV to not turn on properly. Hope this helps!

    • @Mr.ElectroniCET
      @Mr.ElectroniCET  5 месяцев назад

      Could be a faulty panel, fault power IC or faulty ceramic capacitors on the flexible boards. Hope this helps.
