Simply one of the most moronic things the buildling industry did - 100 percent of all homes have 1.5 inch, so great - lets make all the replacement tubs and showers 2 inch and change the code. Fn genius. Great vid thanks !

He installed the drain improperly. This is not a good job, this is a hack job, or homeowner special as we call it. He'll be calling a plumber when his entire bathroom smells like sewer gas.

Is the pipe coming thru the floor in the correct position for the shower pan? Is there enough wiggle room for the shower pan.

Once you get down to the 1.5-2” adapter and cut on the 2” side, you can build the 2” pipe towards your shower pan drain allowing for some wiggle.
Make sure you ‘dry fake’ set it before actually using glue. That stuff drys very fast.

is there a p trap on that

Yes there is. That’s why I used the fernco, because I couldn’t get a turn piece attached to the part of the p-trap I cut. It was very tight down there and the fernco is a great solution. I attached the fernco (glue and screws) then the pipe, and covered the whole area in concrete before I added the fill.

You have to have a ptrap on a shower drain. I bet that bathroom smells like sewer gas. This is exactly why you hire a plumber.
