It sounds like Andrew, but I have not seen any official comment yet. Still stings what they did to Mick Gordan, crappy way to treat a huge cog in DooM's rebirth.
@NXGamer absolutely. I'm pretty pissed about it because Marty is still doing interviews with Hugo Martin as if nothing happened. Mick had so many receipts that I have a hard time believing Marty isn't a total asshole and responsible for the whole thing.
Who cares it’s old news - onwards and upwards for them both.. was getting a bit bored of Micks works tbh, new direction for Doom and new sound/music design. 👍

Ive played Eternal and more recently 2016 on PC, and despite having all the quality settings on low, both games run fast and look beautiful. Excited for the dark ages 😈
I didn't like all the primary colours in eternal, so im glad they're going back to the grim medieval aesthetic, it's almost like this was gonna be a new quake but knew the 'doom' name probably has more selling grunt. Hopefully there's multiplayer too.
i think in that interview with Hugo Martin he was trying to say that there wont be any glory kills without actually saying it. i think the idea he was trying to get at was, since there is a new melee system where you can kick and use the shield and use a mace without being locked into a long animation, you basically have infinite variety with how you finish off an enemy with a string of animations that you control depending on the input. He has stated in an interview with games radar that now more than ever, they are inspired by the original dooms and that the dark ages will be a sort of return to form where combat mazes will be how you weave through a hail of slow moving bullets rather than making a split second dash when an enemy throws a fast moving fireball at you. i highly recommend checking out the interview because it sheds more light on the direction they are taking the game. also they are pushing for much more enemies on screen than ever before!
"Much more enemies on screen than ever before". That's not impressive when the majority of the enemies on the screen are crowds of trash-tier 'fodder' enemies that basically just stand there, barely doing anything at all. Which is what I see in The Dark Ages trailer.
Haven't played Doom before, played a demo of the 1st comeback for it-was too fast paced & didn't seem like it had a lot of depth to me...This looks great, hope it has some depth to it could get me into the series.
im a traditionalist I like to see oldschool looking demons in doom :) no hate to eternal but this gave them the perfect reason to just re design everything so yeah lookin good
They scale the horizontal before the vertical first. So rather than going from 3840x2160 > 2560x1440 they can drop to 2880x2160 for a smaller visual hit but maintains the target frametime.
I'm so glad they returned to the slower-paced gameplay of Doom 2016. Eternal was a horrible experience for me, it was just too much low ammo and low health for my taste. This one looks really sick, looking forward to it.
Did you try lowering the difficulty? The loop in Eternal is fantastic but it requires a little dedication to figure it out. It certainly comes at the cost of the _immediate_ playability of previous games. I can't get enough of it, but it's easy to see how others couldn't gel with it. I hope The Dark Ages wins players like yourself over, again.
I really hope this can somehow facilitate a120fps mode on consoles. 60fps in both Doom 2016 and Eternal on both console platforms has pretty high input lag. otherwise.
All 3 current generation consoles have a 120fps (along with an RT mode). And this is my preferred mode to play on as it can offer around 52-60ms input latency, up with the likes of CoD and old CRT screens.
@@NXGamer Your commitment to highlighting the often overlooked topic of video game latency is something I am always grateful for. I know id are still wizards, but a _current_ gen game targeting 120fps seems like a tall order. Doom Eternal at 120fps is fantastic for a console experience.
Fair point. I would expect a much lower target resolution @ 120fps, as well as reduced visuals across the board when compared to Eternal's high res, high quality 120fps mode. Whatever it takes to get it done is all I can hope for@@crestofhonor2349
@@NXGamer Couldn't agree more, Michael. I currently rock a Sun gdm 5510 & Mitsubishi Diamondtron 2070 for all my HD consoles and as you say the latency is near flawless. And with the amount of sub 4K at 60fps games this gen the CRTs are still delivering exceptional unmatched results.
I like the medieval setting, but the size of the armaments bothers me. They take up too much screen real estate. Felt the same about the previous 2 dooms as well. Great games, but I’d give anything to be able to reduce the gun sizes by maybe 15%.

Can we get a shout out for that amazing per-pixel motion blur? ID's motion blur is unmatched!!
I just wish there was a way to separate camera blur from object-based motion blur like some games allow.
