I believe the temple ordinances and covenants are sacred and important. We should not discuss what we have been counseled to keep sacred, as you’ve reminded, and I don’t believe you have shared anything you shouldn’t have. This is a good reminder that we can and should talk about those parts that we can, to help those who are preparing to go through, and also to help dispel misconstrued ideas among detractors. It’s not a secret, but it is sacred. This is one of the reasons that a temple open house is such a good event. 20 years ago, I had no idea what to expect when I went through the temple for the first time, besides hearing some of the cautions you mentioned. Learning that I would be making covenants with the Lord would have helped me better understand in advance what the purpose of the temple was. It’s also important to remember that people of different generations may not be as receptive to having any discussion at all, because that was how they understood it for a long time.

I don't want you to feel uncomfortable teaching us. We understand if you want to take a break. And we appreciate your returning to us. Hope your confidence increases. Love from the Powers family.

I also think that reviewing the dedicatory prayer is a blessing to read regularly.

Never apologize nor regret tears. It's love without a person to - corporally - receive it; its releasing pain or other emotions good or bad.
Its a wonderful blessing that not everybody has.

Just because I need to be reminded often. The Law of the Gospel is simple, we complicate it. Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Receive the Holy Ghost, Make and Keep Sacred Covenants, Endure to the end.

I absolutely love this. You are a shining example of teaching by example. Sacred teachings must be passed on with respect, love, devotion and grace. Explaining why you love worship is essential to giving motivation to the rising generation to continue in faith. You addressed this topic with enthusiasm but also reverence.
    Thank you ❤🙏

I love that story of your mother. Your Spirit is so sweet and I could just feel her presence with you as you discussed when you RECIEVED your Endowment. It was like a little piece of her spirit was right there with you. So cool

You are a brave woman. You keep going. I have loved this segment on Temples. I am excited to attend the Reno Temple this afternoon and look forward to my move to Mesa, Arizona. The Temple has been a true source of comfort and peace as I spent the last 3 months unemployed. To have the availability of more sessions are going to be a blessing. However, I'm going to miss the spirit of the Reno Temple where I was able to administer to my mother and fathers sealing followed by my sealing to them. Tears of joy.

I think this is my favorite of your videos so far. And it's so important! I heard so much that the temple endowment is weird before I went for mine back in February this year. I heard stories from people who had left the church saying that the temple is the reason they left. (I don't think it's actually the reason, I think they just say it is out of spite.) So, part of me was a little worried, but I had a couple of friends that told me what they felt they could and told me to read Abraham and Moses first and I'm so glad I did. Nothing seemed weird to me! Something about it all felt familiar and maybe that's because of what I had read and what they had told me, but it was just an awesome experience and I don't think it would have been if it weren't for those friends who talked to me about it first.

When you were 15 or 16 did you come to class prepared? My kids are non members and sometimes it is like pulling teeth to have them participate. We are making progress though. I try and be patient with them. Sometimes in our home when teaching them the gospel through the scriptures you they don't attend or attend but don't want to say anything or sometimes they say things. Our youngest is taking the missionary discussions and progressing wonderfully towards baptism. Love, Brother Powers

    Things have definitely changed
When my parents got married - 1966
They weren’t even allowed to take wedding pictures on the temple grounds
So we’ve come along way !!

I too like a good discussion, but usually find church classes pretty unengaging. RS class ends up being either a lecture style presentation or a regurgitation of the conference talk we're focusing upon. SS feels like very few people have actually studied the material. I know I'm biased, but I find that most of the insightful comments are made by my husband, who removed his membership 8 months ago but still attends. He studies the scriptures and is very analytical. The teacher poses a question and we just hear crickets most of the time. I feel for the poor guy. There are so many great discussions that could happen, but people just don't seem to care.

It is sad, often true, but sad. Keep being a light. Others are listening, even if they are not speaking up.

I get really excited too when I end up learning something from the apostles and from The book of Mormon or the scriptures. My kids don't want anything to do with the church so I always have to share with them, they think I'm crazy .

Sorry, it's me again. Do I get excited about the temple? Yes, I do.
Doctrine and Covenants Central RUclips Channel Church History Matters has an excellent series on the history of temples, the ordinances, and their evolution through continued revelation. (Not a paid endorsement. 😂)
