- Disappointed that your Tesla does not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Well Amazon released the Echo Auto, an Amazon assistant made for your car so you can take Alexa with you on the road.
This video I unbox the Echo Auto, and show you what I did to "install" the Echo Auto. Since Tesla has USB ports, it is very simple. You plugin and your ready to go. Use the Alexa app on your phone to add a new device. Now every time you get in your Tesla, you have access to Alexa. You must have it set to use your phone audio. I provide a mini review and my opinion on how well the Echo Auto works in your Tesla.
My only complaint was at 5:15. I wish I could stream and still have it popup rather then being stuck on my phone's Bluetooth.
In this video I show you a few of the commands of the Echo Auto such as:
Calling contacts
Finding local gas stations (LOL?)
Playing Tesla Skyrim... okay it is the very special edition but nonetheless you can play Skyrim in your Tesla.

*This is my **Newest.Technology** second one, the first was for my older car. Alexa works way better than an FM tuner bluetooth or for hands free calling. We found it also worked great on the boat. That is why we now own two Echo Auto's.*

Very Helpful . I had to stop my Alexa multiple times to complete this video. Next time just beep the word "Alexa" . Almost anyone watching would already be a Alexa user :).

Please don't say the Echo wake-up word in any future videos. I had to mute and use subtitles in the end as it kept waking up my Echo device.

I have myQ linked to Alexa and use the Echo Auto to run a routine when I get to my garage - open the garage door, unlock my house and play Queen in my living room. Didn’t pay for Homelink and don’t need to anymore.

I use Amazon music for my playlist so haven’t used it since I got the Tesla. Bluetooth not always connected for some reason.

Yeah I wasn't the biggest fan of it.
Having to leave the console in phone mode for Alexa to work makes it impractical since I prefer to listen to streaming music while driving.
Agreed 100%. Disappointed.
On the other hand since I have Spotify hooked to Alexa I can stream playlists rather than rely on the Tesla Tidal feed
Can it give you route on the cars web browser via google maps?
Sadly, nope.
i have mine hidden under the center console and it detects my commands the same way. i is completely hidden.

Do you need to set up a WiFi hotspot on your phone or does it use the data plan on your phone and forward the audio through the phone to Amazon?
So no hotspot. It connects to your phone through Bluetooth. As soon as you go near your car it connects and gives the Echo Auto internet. It does use your data plan from your phone.
Hey, where did you get that dashboard mount for the echo auto? Mine didn't come with that, just the air vent mount.
It came with it. So I'm not sure what to say or suggest.
It might of been the luck of the draw in that you might of gotten an older one perhaps?
@@israelcortes6714 i contacted amazon and they said they discontinued the dash mount, and now just give the airvent mount instread. I used a bit of velcro to stick it to my teslas dash

Kudos to your hand model for the unboxing ;-). I would prefer Google Assistant with something like the ROAV Bolt.
The roav bolt looks cool. Too bad it's not powered through USB.
I have both. The echo is much more reliable and the bolt makes it so you can’t close the compartment it’s too big at least on my X
I think a usb powered one would've been so much better. I think some DIY hacking could make it work. Either way, I appreciate your product comparison.
