    Whats the benefit of having the auto device versus having the alexa app open on the phone. When the app is open it also responds to commands, so im confused why the device is different.

    • @TimCutts
      @TimCutts Год назад +2

      Functionality will be quite similar, I agree. I don't have one of these yet, but I expect the main benefits to be ① that the microphone setup should be a bit better and ② it allows you to have something else in the foreground of your phone, such as a SatNav app.

      Connecting directly with my phone sitting at the center bottom dashboard area of my new Kia Carnival, it felt like I needed to raise my voice much louder & repeat commands vs. using the Echo Auto in my 13 year old Sienna. I need to explore further as I may have just been in a poor connection area when testing the direct connection or need to find a place to mount my phone where the mic would better pick up my voice.

    Thank you very much for the advice Crack, it seems very interesting. How do you connect to the internet? You share data from your phone, right?

    • @twHomeShow
      @twHomeShow  Год назад +2

      Yes. You have your phone on you at all times while driving. The phone has the cellular connection and the Alexa echo auto pairs automatically to your phone every time you enter the vehicle. The connection depends on your phone. Thank you for watching and your comment. -Todd

    i would have had the gate work on geolocation. why say it at all? hence auto in automation.. My house door unlocks, lights come on in the rooms i will be in with in the first half hour of being home. AC adjusts, and of course do so much more but hat is all I need it for other than my computer booting up in the office and screen turning on .. I just hate doing the mundane things so what does saying it instead really change? If it ain't automated I don't want it

    Still shocked that Teslas do not include built in Alexa, Google and Siri.
    I do not like that amazon "seperated" the unit into 2 pieces. In my car there is a cubbie where the usb ports are with just enough room to stuff the cords themselves (echo, dash cam, phone charge, mp3 cord).
    Glad to see they started including the magnetic/sticky mount the original echo first had (pre release as I was a beta tester for amazon)
    Of course since amazon completely ruined prime music on demand I almost never use my auto echo anymore.
    I listen mostly to my mp3 player via bluetooth but if the urge strikes and I need to interact with alexa I just hit the action button and the sound is played through my phone automatically since the cars BT playback is currently used.
    While I'm saddened that you sold your corvette I can understand. At our ages it gets tiring climbing in and out (or rather up and down) out of a car that sits 6 inches off the ground. Recently sold my latest Miata (after 3 in 25 years) for something with more creature comforts, more room and easier to get in and out of. BUT ANOTHER TESLA ? I would not own 2 electrics and zero gas autos. Just wouldn't.

      Echo auto has custom built hardware to process voice requests.. The microphone are much better at picking up the voice. It is truly handsfree as opposed to phone.
