She may be het for pi or even other things that breeders can tell. I hope she never has to feel any pain or suffering again. I wish there was a way to find out who abandon this pretty girl. I'm hoping we'll have enough money to get her spayed before we let her back outside so that it's not an issue anymore. It's just hard when I've got my own animals to think of but we are doing our best.

      I have to agree with this. If yall have a porch, even just a slab, it might be worth enclosing it. If it's large enough you could have quarantine benches for tanks in each of the 4 corners to keep sick babies apart. Being in Florida, you wouldn't have to do much heating to keep the room warm, but keeping it cool enough might be a struggle in the summer.

    We rescued a ball python. When I was in highschool. We found her wrapped around the wheel well of my car. Thank goodness we had outdoor cats. One of them was acting really strange looking at my tire, so that prompted me to investigate. Otherwise, I would have hopped in and drove off! We have an idea of which neighbor let her loose, but never confronted them. My dad jacked the car up and removed the tire so we could get her off. We didn't know anything about snakes at the time, so we took her to the vet and the vet said they are docile and good pets. My dad built a huge habitat for Rosie and she had a good life.

    • @gutz323

      @@sweetcinnamonpnchkin was gonna say the same thing, it is possible it is an escaped pet. The docile nature of this snake would make it very easy to find a home, and I am pretty sure any pet shop would take it off someone's hands for free just to make themselves a profit.
      Even though it is totally 100% wrong, I can see the reason for someone getting rid of a 20 foot Burmese python in the wild, because it would be a lot harder to find a home, but a 4 to 5 foot docile ball python would be easy to find a home.

  • @kitkatnikkireynolds

    Make a humid hide for her. Just get a plastic container from the dollar store, make some air holes, moisten paper towels with 81-83F water, put them in the container like a nest, put her in, put on the lid, and you can leave her in it for a few hours under her heat lamp. It'll help with those eye caps.

    • @NathanielTavington

    • @kitkatnikkireynolds
      @kitkatnikkireynolds 3 года назад +7

      @@NathanielTavington You don't have to clear an RI to have a humid hide. I understand the premise of concern, but it isn't valid on a realistic standpoint. Daily soaks are very stressful unless the snake shows it likes water. And a humid hide won't rub off the silver sulfadiazine anymore than just slithering in her tank does.

    • @NathanielTavington
      @NathanielTavington 3 года назад +3

      @@kitkatnikkireynolds I admittedly only have experience with a beardie, and when he had an RI the vet told me to keep his humidity as low as possible until it cleared up, I know balls have different humidity needs than beardies but it was just a guess as to why they were soaking instead of putting in a humidity hide. I'm assuming that they're following whatever the vet recommended though, judging by how hard they're working to help her.

      As a 5-yr-old-child, I stepped on a prairie rattler. I had to stand still while my dad killed it with a shovel. -There really was no other way to safety because we had been walking through a thicket of young willow trees. -No way to get away from the inevitable defensive-strike that would come if I stepped off of it's neck. It was traumatic. Then my mean neighbor would terrorize me with rattlesnakes as I grew older.
      I was never one to want 'kill them all', or anything. I was just afraid, deep down and I wanted nothing to do with any of them.
      I was afraid of all snakes until I met a little ball python. All coiled up, he was about as big as a baseball. -Really small. -And so shy. And I held him and he was warm and smooth. And his skin was so pretty.
      He healed me that day, just being himself!

      Tricia Jenkins, she will always curl up in a Ball when handled, and it's not out of pain, that's why they are called BALL pythons!!! Much respect to you for your obvious sincere concern for this beautiful snake! Your obviously a great person!

    Thanks for the updates she has come so far and all thanks to you both your amazing and the only reason she is alive today is because of f the work you have done plus she's a fighter because I think she knows your not going to give up on her unlike the sick previous owner who just abandoned her. Thank you

    She's so tame just soak her for a while and rub the eye scales off with your finger tips. It's a breeze on you and the snake. I've done it a few times and it's fine for your snake.

      I agree..taking her back to the vet and having them do it may be just extra trauma..
      If nothing else, you tried and it’s less stressful on her because y’all are the ones doing it and she obviously is way more comfortable with you guys compared to the first couple of videos!

      Yup! Using a wet towel to carefully rub it off is another good thing as the towel can have the caps catch on the towel

    No! Thank you so so much! For everything that you have done for this sweet girl.
    I do hope that you guys decide to keep her, I think it is fitting after everything she has been through and you rescued her, nursed her back to health. She has the sweetest nature. If I was in your position, I would have a real hard time giving her to someone else.
    Anyway, it was this sweet girl that brought me to your channel and to subscribe. It would be awesome to be able to follow her for a long time to come, as well as you guys!

    I'm very impressed with the love and care and dedication you've shown this snake from the very beginning. It's also obvious you show the same care for ALL the creatures in your care. I have much respect for you two. There are many in florida that unfortunately are all about ego, the look at me I'm so smart types that dont really practice what they preach. Many of these have you tube channels as well mainly targeting people who dont know much and drawing them in with live feedings and venomous snake free handling just to show off, there are perhaps times when free handling is necessary, but most of the videos I've seen is more about showing off rather then true education or conservation. Kudos to y'all, thank you for being exceptions to that kind of behavior, your maturity and respect for the animals you work with is to be commended.
