    Using the scoop for the shortcake is so cool, Beth.
    No rolling, cutting and disturbing the dough. A swell idea, indeed.

    Just made this. And it's a very interesting recipe. The right amount of sweetness. I did everything she said except I didn't have a ice cream scoop so I had to spoon it out. And they spread and running in to each other. Other than that they were delicious !!!! Very delicate

    I just made theses and they were delicious! Although, I do have a tip. If you want a shortcake more like the one from the Cheesecake Factory, I recommend adding more sugar and less salt and vanilla ice cream just because the shortcakes were a lot saltier than theirs. I found myself having to add many scoops of ice cream and whipped cream just to over power the salt. Also, I got a little lazy and just used the store bought whipped cream which still tasted amazing! Anyways, I really liked this recipe overall and definitely recommend it.

    Feel like at home back in my school days when I ate these after a looong french day of work (because in France, school lessons can go until 6 or 7 pm!).
    And the video on growing strawberries is perfect ! My strawberry bushes died last year and I still don't know why but this year will be better, even if I don't really have green fingers, but thank's to you, it'll be ok ! =)
    Thank's Beth !

    Hello Beth! I was just wondering if there was a way to make the whip cream sweeter? I wasn't sure if adding more powdered sugar or trying to add granulated sugar would disturb it in any way

    • @EntertainingWithBeth
      @EntertainingWithBeth  3 года назад +1

      Yes you can! You're exactly right, just add more powdered sugar to it, 1 tbsp at a time. Powdered sugar is better than granulated sugar, because the powdered sugar will dissolve better :)

    Hi Beth, can we prep the batter and put in the fridge for a few hours?

    • @EntertainingWithBeth
      @EntertainingWithBeth  6 лет назад

      Well, sometimes with that I've found the baking powder can loose its effectiveness. If you want to pre-prep I would make them immediately, bake and then allow to rest at room temp until ready to serve (or place in fridge if longer than a day) and then bake at 300F for 15 mins to warm and soften back up before serving! I think they would be the best this way. I hope you enjoy!

So I fancied something sweet for a summer afternoon and this shortcake sure did the trick. I didn't have the cream so used milk instead. Result.. Wasn't quite cooked after time but delicious with peach and clementine side. Oh thanks.. You are lovely.

      I don't think she listed the correct amount of flour for the butter. I had to add an extra 1/4 cup. My drop biscuits usually have baking soda and buttermilk instead of heavy cream. Then the biscuits will rise np.

  • @mrsmommy81
    @mrsmommy81 9 лет назад

    beth...I'm embarrased to admit this because you said it's your easiest recipe...and I'm not a newbie cook...I'm a mom of 3 and love to cook and bake. but I've now made this recipe twice and both times my biscuits looked like pancakes! I used the full tablespoon of baking powder and I let it rest at least 5 minutes to let it activate with the wet ingredients. I thought the 2nd time would be different but it wasn't. I've followed the recipe to a twice now. :( how do yours puff up? I don't know what I could be doing wrong unless perhaps my baking powder is expired? do you find baking powder to go "bad"? I've had it opened a good year or so. it's clabber girl.

    • @EntertainingWithBeth
      @EntertainingWithBeth  9 лет назад

      Kelly Mrsmommy Huh how weird? But yes baking powder can go bad and lose it's ability to activate! Best to buy a fresh can and try again! But just to also confirm you are using real butter? Not margarine correct? Because that would also make a difference. Keep me posted!
