To make this dessert you start with a buttery flavored Biscuit (Scone) that has a crisp exterior, yet inside it is soft and fluffy. First, cut the Biscuit in half, preferably while it's still warm, and place it on your plate. Next, on the cut side of your Biscuit, place a large spoonful of fresh strawberries, along with their juices, that have been cut into bite size chunks and macerated in sugar. Top with a large dollop of whipped cream. Then place the top of the Biscuit on the whipped cream and garnish the top with even more strawberries and whipped cream. This is casual food at its best, perfect during the summer months at backyard barbecues and other informal gatherings.

I made a strawberry shortcake today then saw you had posted a shortcake video. Great minds think alike and thought great way to celebrate 4th of July. My mother made two types of shortcake - the biscuit and sponge cake. Both great. I like to use a small spoon to hull the strawberries and I like to use confectioners sugar to sweeten the cream. I feel it stabilizes the cream a bit.

Hi Stephanie, I was wondering if you'd ever tried making the scones for this with some fresh lemon zest? When we were in the Channel Islands we stopped off for some fortification for the upcoming mile walk and the lovely lady who owned the small tea house served these and I kept tasting a hint of lemon but couldn't see it in the strawberry mix. I finally had enough trying to determine where it was sneaking in from and politely asked about it and our hostess smiled and said it was baked into the scone. Brilliant and was such a lovely compliment to the strawberries.

Every year when strawberries were in season, we'd go to a strawberry farm to pick berries and my mom would make biscuits for strawberry shortcake and to this day that's how I prefer it. Hard to beat homemade biscuits and fresh strawberries.

I think the only difference between cutting biscuits straight down vs. “twisting” is presentation. I’ve seen some say that if you’re making layered biscuits then cut straight down so you can seevrhe layers and they will rise.
Personally, I don’t care. I just want it to taste good. Haha! Looks delicious as always. Thank you.

The baking time was 15 to 18 mins but please tell what setting temperature do i have the oven on?

Yes, although you might want to store them in the fridge and then bring to room temperature before serving.

The scones are baked at 375 F (190 C).
We use pound cake.

Yes that is how it is pronounced in some parts of Canada and the UK.

Yes, as I said in the video, some people say that. Personally, I've tried it both ways, and I've never noticed a difference.
