Now that I've seen the entire Xenoblade saga for myself I can confidently proclaim Xenoblade 2 to be the greatest soundtrack in the series, but ESPECIALLY the overworld themes my GOD Xenoblade 3 had some nice ones, and XC1 still some all-time classics, but they can't hold a candle to the sheer weight XC2's themes give to their respective locations
I hate that I didn't appreciate this song the first time around. The entirety of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 soundtrack is stellar and it took me RUclips listening to really understand that.
I feel the same way about a lot of video game music honestly. I tend to get too invested in what's happening on screen to fully appreciate the soundtrack behind it, so I often go to RUclips to listen to songs I didn't fully pay attention to. XC2's soundtrack has so many great songs that it's easy to miss one in game and come back to it here and realize how amazing it sounds.
This theme manages to hit in multiple ways. It evokes wonder when you first arrive then at the halfway point it evokes the tension of the situation you are in then after the boss fight it feels completely hopeless and melancholic despite the track being exactly the same at all 3 stages, I do not for the life of me understand how they composed something so goddamn cool.
I have a friend who told me getting down would be like a hell, but I actually really enjoyed getting there, maybe because the music and that I love snow levels XD

Pure adrenaline while you run through a gauntlet of pillars filled to the brim with more and more powerful enemies as you progress towards the Omega Fetter. Really fits the mood of a race against time to stop a sinking continent.
I don’t think this qualifies as spoilers for XC3 since the trailer shows the stuff I’m gonna talk about. Tantal has the same chorus as Everblight plain in XC3? Coincidence? Maybe. But Uraya had the same chorus motif, so MAYBE Tantal is in XC3, just never explicitly mentioned. The area does have some stupid bridge placements… something Tantal did a lot of. Food for thought.

The promo shots of Tantal were what got me hyped for XC2, because a) the ruins' architecture was incredible and vast and b) I was fresh off the heels getting gobsmacked by Valak Mountain at night. Needless to say, this track cemented my expectations.

I played FE3H first and loved the music, then played XC2 and certain songs kinda tripped me up. If you ever played Persona 5, you probably know the song Willpower. Song of Giga Rosa has a part that sounds way too similar to be a coincidence. It threw me for a loop
I love Tantal day and night so much and can't tell which one I love more. The two songs as well as Counterattack are just my favourite songs from the basegame and just embody the experience for me. It makes you feel like you're in a barren winter wonderland, with day making you feel like you're drowning in a cascade of snow trying to make it through without freezing to death, while the night theme makes you feel like a tranquil, chilly night with a slight looming uneasiness in the background to remind you this winter wonderland isn't all beauty and elegance. As you can probably see, I like the music in this game way too much.
tantal and mor ardain have a couple things in common:
1. they're both wastelands
2. their day themes are god damn vibin'
