I work at plastic mold injection plant in the USA and safety shoes are not required. I wear gloves but only because the parts I make go to medical industry. I also wear hair net,lab coat and safety glasses.

This is called "rotational molding" and many things, especially big plastic things, use the process. However, this is a very primitive, though likely low labor and equipment cost, way to do it. In a more automated method, measuring is not done by hand like that. And the mold goes into a fixture in a heated oven and fixture rotates on more than one axis at a time to get even coating. A lot of wasted heat energy and therefore wasted fuel in this open air method shown here.

The point is this enterprise is employing people and meeting a clearly local need for water storage using low capital cost production equipment. Meeting First World expectations on all issues would kill the operation through need for high unit selling costs. In this situation If I was being realistic I'd compromise with food grade UV resistant polymer and maximise factory ventilation with emphasis on stack effect. Also perhaps reduce fire risk storing the beads more remotely. How many of the armchair critics here run enterprises ?

In India this entire process is automated. Even the mould firing process is carried out by automated robotic arms inside a furnace. Almost no labour is involved. But in Pakistan workers are just seen as tools.. no safety or precautionary measures to protect them..relle saddening
I used to think these little companies in these countries were a joke, but after the pandemic had large suppliers shutting down and thousands of people out of working supplies running out I've changed my point of view. Many smaller manufacturers keeps people working and supplies and goods moving. This used to be the norm in America before the giant corporations put the little companies out of business.
OSHA doesn't applicable here to local industry but industry safety act that is domestic protocol. Amazingly local authorties and industry don't even interested in implementation. Some high-tech and big producers following ILO and OSHA norms through their client demands.

Many smaller manufacturers keeps people working and supplies and goods moving. This used to be the norm in America before the giant corporations put the little companies out of business.

OSHA doesn't applicable here to local industry but industry safety act that is domestic protocol. Amazingly local authorties and industry don't even interested in implementation. Some high-tech and big producers following ILO and OSHA norms through their client demands.

Had a vo worker almost get killed when he fell thru a hole in a roof that contractor left open. Another job a young plumber was carrying armfull of pipes and fell thru a hole in roof.
