- This video is a Belgravia London walking tour and is part 2 of our series on the area around Victoria Station. Click here for Part 1 • Victoria Station to Li... .
We start the tour off just outside of Victoria Station and head straight into the neighborhood of Belgravia where we will pass by the street where Mozart composed his first symphony at the age of 8.
Next, we stop at Chester Square where Lady Margaret Thatcher once lived before heading to the serene Eaton Square Gardens.
We then will sneak into a hidden back alley lined with former horse stables now converted to homes, and where we will find a quaint and tucked away London pub.
And finally, we’ll take a walk along the outer walls of Buckingham Palace Gardens before ending the tour in the lovely Grosvenor Gardens.

You should have stopped at 165 Eaton Place and called on Lady Bellamy...and then popped-on downstairs and said hello to Mrs. Bridges.
And Hudson!
Now I have to re watch the amazing Upstairs Downstairs series
Thanks for watching Jonnie
Sinead
What was used as 165 Eaton Place is actually 65 Eaton Place.
@@philliphurley5341 Yes "165" was a fictional address...I wonder how many people over the years tried to find it 😄
@@jonnieinbangkok Probably quite a few unless they are Londoners like me and knew Eaton Place already.
thank you very much for the tour around Victoria.. When I was about 19 I walked along Grosvenor Place, where you can see the walls of Buckingham Palace gardens and I went to my job in an Insurance company. I used to go by train to Cannon Street then underground and to Victoria station when I then walked to work. (p.s. ) I am 80 now and live in Essex.
Sinead, you are a marvelous tour guide! We love your videos! You have a lovely voice and overall presentation! We watch a tour every night here in California, USA. We're fond of all London and surrounding areas! Anything ROYAL we watch! Please keep doing what you do!!! You're the best!

Hi Sinead, a few more famous people of note lived in Belgravia, Brian Epstein the manager of the Beatles at 44 chapel St, Pete Townshend from The Who at 84 Eaton Place, and the infamous Lord Lucan at 5 Eaton Row.

As a midwest USA country girl, it would be so difficult for me to adapt to my front door opening right onto the street.
Great tour. I kept looking for 165 Eaton Place--the home of Lord Belamy from "Upstairs / Downstairs"--the 1970's television program. Also I was hoping we would see the Mews home where Prince Philip brushed up to a potential scandal involving a doctor. (Did that also involve the notorious Christine Keeler?) London is gorgeous.
Ah - the Profumo affair! That was just a bit north of where Sinead filmed :)
Above Victoria station and Leon, the glass building is the offices of the Telegraph newspaper. I used to work there.
Did our tour do the area justice in your opinion?
Stunning location
Hope you enjoyed the tour
Sinead
This was absolutely fascinating. Thank you Sinead, you have wonderful knowledge. Although the houses are beautiful, I don’t think I’d want to live there. I didn’t realise there were gated gardens. I did notice that a lot of the railings were the original ones. Obviously, the railings were taken only from the poor during the war & the rich were able to keep theirs! I also noticed near the pub, there were bricked up windows on the sides of some of the houses. I know they used to have to pay a window tax, but I would have thought they would have been reverted back to being windows now. Maybe they are listed like that now?
The sort of people who live there have houses all over the world. These are just their central London homes.
yes you are right many years ago i wrote to the queen and received
a letter back. a very nice letter it was to.
How wonderful
Must try it myself

Unfortunately the Chanel thing isn’t true
“Sadly for romantics everywhere, the story is apocryphal. The 'CC' device merely stands for ‘City Council’, and it's usually accompanied by a fancy 'W' indicating 'Westminster'.
The lampposts were installed in the 1950s, long after Chanel had split with the duke. (The pair never married; the designer’s cutting explanation: "There have been several Duchesses of Westminster. There is only one Chanel.")”
Dear Sinead,Could you do a walking tour between Bond Street, and Sloane Square. My friend and I used to go up to London spend our times there. From Julie of Dartford

What u should always remember to look out for on ur Tourist stroll (You wouldn't want to bang ur head) are those signs with very clear wording stating... "KEEP OUT".
Those are directed at that very exclusive group referred to as "The Lower classes".(And not so rich).Your most welcome Sir!🤔!👍
In those houses, the first, ground, floor has the dining room and morning room, usually, it’s only one story above the kitchen. Many of them have, or had, dumbwaiters, too.
Please don’t forget that buses and coaches are different. They are not the same. Also, there aren’t that many Michelin stars in Belgravia. Mayfair has lots more.
Yes Victoria Coach Station has coaches in there no buses.
While this is technically true, the distinction between the two has been watered down over the years. The term coach certainly has a more professional and long-haul connotation to it but in our FB group, I'd say few if any ask about a coach to Edinburgh. It's always a bus to Edinburgh. Oh goes language.
OMG, imagine taking a bus to Edinburgh. How many days would that take? Anyway, I prefer to speak any language (especially my own) correctly. Did you know that when Megabus first started, they were using former city buses. I remember taking one which took almost 4 hours to get to London from Bristol!!
if you hold on to your land from way back here's the result!

Heads up to any fellow vegans - you can get great vegan meal at Leon's you see in background of opening shot inside Victoria Train station plus if you have a long wait for a train there is a great pub and toilet are upstairs in the concourse. Surprised no mention of the nearby cathedral which has a large concourse in front and steps where tourists stop to eat their sandwiches and coffee too.
