From Gerry- What a great, easy quilt! I turn my scraps into 5" squares so I have enough to make a throw size. Blessings.

I love your creativity. You come up with such interesting patterns. I personally don't like working with tiny pieces so I would start by sewing 1/4" down two opposite sides of the charm square pairs then cut 1" off each of those sides so the thin strips are sewn together before cutting them. I'm adding this to me "To do" list.😊

That sounds like a great alternative way to make this! Thanks for the kind words.

Nice easy pattern. A suggestion - if your cutting mat has a light side the dark blocks would show better.

I just found you recently found your videos and I love them!! I purchased the Fossil Charm Packs and plan on making the diamonds. I made a wall hanging of the 3D blocks but it still needs to be quilted. Thanks for all your help!!

Have you tried sewing on both sides of 5in square and cutting your 1in strips from each side after sewing?

If I'm understanding what you're saying, we'd end up with the same result, right? Whatever technique is easiest for you is the best one! Thank you for the great suggestion!

Really enjoying your channel. I'm a scrap quilter so quilts like this are perfect for me. I buy flannel backed cheap tablecloths too. AND if you have space, tape two together and enlarge the area for larger quilts.

It came out great. This is a simple pattern anyone could do. It would also look great if someone was trying to use up their scraps and it could be modified by using other size blocks as well. I love the borders. Thanks for sharing!!

Love your tutorial! I also used a flannel-backed tablecloth from a thrift store for my design wall. Wish I would have found a checked one like yours. Thanks for leaving your ironing “oops” in the video - we’ve all been there, done that! 😉. Definitely saving this design to use with leftovers from Charm packs.

I did my design wall with pink foam core 4 x 8 (2) panels and covered with batting using pneumatic staple gun. It has the advantage of my being able to hang large pieces. I use 2 prong pins which is not so hard on fabric for large pieces. Regarding precuts... Some are ridiculously cut. You showed great way to compensate for wonkj measures

Graphically exciting. The colors are fun and bright. I tend to be a non-border kinda gal ... I think the quilts look more modern but your choice of using borders looks beautiful too. Thank you for sharing.

My design wall is also a Dollar Tree $1.00 vinyl top tablecloth with flannel back. It is tacked onto my wall next to my machine table behind the door. It has served me well for several years now.

I like your design wall tip: the lines of the checkerboard design of the tablecloth (showing through the flannel) will help with the lining up of the blocks!
Great block! Thank you for sharing.
    Note to self: about 33" x 34.5" without borders @24:34; with borders about 46" by 45" @25:24

I know that this was years ago but your camera seems to be the ‘Eagle eye lens’ or something so nothing looks square from where I’m sitting. But thank you for sharing. I’ve never liked charm packs but this is a good way to use them.

I used a different when this was filmed. I now use something which has the ability to 'square' the picture up a bit more.

I just found this video. It's a great pattern. I have to think about the pressing though. I don't like the way seam allowances show on the light colored fabrics.

    • @revelationquilts
      @revelationquilts  3 месяца назад +1

That never bothered me much. I’m sure you can alter the pressing.
