Braking, handling(no dive/squat despite no air springs/hydraulics), and acceleration were super top notch for the day. 108ft braking is astonishing for something on such pedestrian tires.
Still own one of those in station wagon form. Had both phase 1 and 2 cars in 320 4matic. The phase 2 is a much better car than the first ones. BUT they both (as all MB products of the mid 90' to mid 2000) rust like they want to commit suicide and return to the Earth as quickly as possible... Saddly a very bad period from the quality point of view for Mercedes.
6.7 seconds 0-60 in a 220hp AWD V6 Sedan was pretty damn good for the time.
It sure was! Still is!!!!
Pretty good for the 'lobbied' driver.
As was the 108 ft braking distance. In fact, that still beats the majority of modern day midsize sedans.

The irony is that most cars in 2023 aren't that fast. Still gotta pay money for that sort of performance!
99 e320 was the most reliable mercedes I ever had and I have owned a lot. That car is a tank
0:21 i like how they still use vcr in 2000 (since vcr was in 80s and early 90s), even though its outdated and that glitch is so iconic in these things
What a beauty of a car. 🥰
Very beautiful this Mercedes
I drive a W210 E320 :)
The awesome car I have owned for a decade a daily driver of 280,000 km in Tasmania of all places
The spot will also air on national cable networks including VH1 and Comedy Central.
My dad had a ‘99 E320 4Matic. Good car other than the transmission died bc of something that had to do with the AWD system.
It was cheaper for a reason... Cheaper sheet metal and anti rust treatments
For sure. Though, to be fair this version of 4Matic is a lot simpler than the prior version - not a bad thing!
Still see so many 80s/early 90s E-Class gas and diesels with 300-600K miles on them and still purring away.
W124 was a far better built car

Not all of them had rust issues tho, i live in md and got an 01 E320 4matic wagon. And not a spec of rust on my car and it got 142k miles
You nailed it? 🥳🥳😍
0:19 urppppugh
I bet a 1990 Accord is worth more than these now.
An Accord is worth 0 now. At least in Europe. A 320 4 matic that has not rusted away is not.
