    I recently purchased a 2000 E320 with 180k miles. I have changed the fluids and tuned it. It’s a lovely ride.

    I have a black 2001 e320, it’s a beautiful car, like you I changed the wheels and tires to a wider set…the M112 engine is one of the greatest Mercedes has ever built…maybe you could do a video on this engines reliability and performance.

    I have a 1998 e320 1 owner car got it with 60k miles. I’m now approaching 90k miles and haven’t had many issues other then a conductor plate going out shortly after I bought it, beautiful car though man and you got the avantgarde package that’s sick 😎 I also paid 5k$ for mine.

      if not rusting, that car could outlive all of us. I got mine ('99) at 78k, currently at 130k with no major repairs needed outside of catalytic converters.
      since yours is a '98, I highly recommend checking the harmonic balancer serial against the defective list and visually inspecting for runout/delamination of the rubber intermediate layer.
      when your conductor plate was replaced, I hope they also replaced the socket for the wiring connector to prevent ATF from leaking into your wiring harness. pull the trans wiring connector and check for fluid in the connector wiring. a leaking plug socket will let ATF wick its way up the wires into the TCM, and then very bad things happen. replacing the socket is an easy DIY job and the part is under $20.

      @@motorwolfe no rust and I do hear a weird knocking noise and I think it’s coming from the balancer 😅🤣 I haven’t been driving my car much cause I go out of town for long periods of time & leave my car, but I need to get this resolved asap.

      @@bigsmokeosrs7394 check the pulleys - on the balancer the rubber insert should be flush all the way around the lip, if that's noticeably uneven and/or cracking you wanna replace that like yesterday before it separates and rips the front of your engine off. a bad water pump can sound like muttering or chattering and you can see it wobbling. if the knock is steady/rhythmic though, it could be rod bearings. sure hope it ain't that. FWIW, the hydraulic valve lifters often tick at startup but when they get bad they can still tick when warmed up. one more thing - the evap system purge valve near the + underhood battery jump point can also tick noticeably, but that's not at the front of the engine.

      @@motorwolfe I’m hearing a knocking sound pretty much when I have the a/c on or air on in general, & it only happens when idling/slowing down. If you could help with that it’d be great cause tbh I’m clueless it could be anything. It’s my first car. I’ve looked at all the pulleys & the belt there’s one pulley that does vibrate more when I turn the air on and that’s when I hear the knocking sound, but I don’t see the pulley hitting anything so I’m really not sure.

    • @motorwolfe
      @motorwolfe Месяц назад

      @@bigsmokeosrs7394 that sounds like it might be the a/c compressor, which is driven by the serpentine belt - only the outer part of the pulley spins until you turn on the a/c, then the central part engages and the whole pulley spins to drive the compressor. if the only time you hear the noise is when turning on the a/c, compressor's likely the culprit. replacing that is not an ideal beginner DIY job, but at least it's not an expensive part, $250 for a Mahle / $230 Denso / $215 Nissens at rock auto. I'd lay off using the a/c until it's fixed, if the compressor's going bad it can potentially send bits of metal throughout the system as it dies.
      any way you might be able to post a short video of it making the noise?

    I am envious of your lack of rust. I have a w210 E55 and I love it, but its rusty and needs a LOT of love, plus a respray. That 3.2 V6 is near indestructible and I can vouch for that out of personal experience. Good friend of mine had a CLK320 and all throughout college we downright abused that car. 300k miles, full throttle and drifts constantly. We would hit the limiter at 130 plenty easy and got 31 mpg. It hit plenty of potholes and curbs and even a few other cars and it kept running until we gave it away to a local automotive college.
    I know your car is clean, but the best advice I can give you is drive the goddamn wheels off that car. It will repay you in kind.

      Hola Luis. Déjame contarte mi experiencia con mi Mercedes E 320 año 2002.
      He tenido mi carro por 13 años. Lo compré con 112000 millas en California. Hoy en dia tiene 253000 y corre muy bien cómo al principio. Problemas de motor y transmisión jamás he tenido. Siempre le doy todo su servicios. Durante todo este tiempo aprendí a darle mantenimiento yo mismo. Cuando compres tu carro, mi consejo es que compres un 2002. Fue el último año de producción de este modelo. Lo primero que tienes que hacer es el servicio de la transmisión completo ( transmisión Flush).
      Este modelo es uno de los mejores de la Mercedes. Me gustan tanto que hace un año me compré otro igual con 126000. Son unos carros sonados.
      Si tienes más preguntas acá me tienes para responder. No dan tantos problemas.

      @@eldy1433 In winter, they use salt on the roads. These cars are famous for rusting, so check for rust and if you keep it away from salt, you should be good.
