    I love these tutorials! I watched you peyote stitch lanyard, and I am a quarter of the way done on my first lanyard. I started making lanyards because I am trying to make one for each of my immediate family for Christmas gifts. If I didn't watch your videos I would not be able to buy as many as I need to get everyone a gift!! Thank you for all the time and teaching you put into your videos!!

    I’ve beaded for years and years.
    My needle threading hint for everyone is for threading any size needle.
    👌pinch thread tightly between finger and thumb leaving only a tiny view of thread end. Press needle eye down over it, and you’ll catch it usually on first try.
    Good luck my beading buddies 🙏

    Do you draw your pattern on graph paper first or make a pattern as you go along? If drawing a pattern how many beads wide? I see you started off with seven beads.

    • @MelissaChilcotinChar
      @MelissaChilcotinChar  4 года назад +6

      No, I don't draw anything out for hoops. It's easier just to go with the beads and figure out designs as you go. I didn't start beading these designs from the get go. There's a lot of trial and error. What you feel looks good is all a part of creativity ☺️ You can use a lot of colors or even just 2 colors 🖤
      I do however use graph paper and design for flat peyote stitch work.

    Melissa I don't know if you will get this but I am going to give it a shot. Okay I a very strange question but sometimes if I just type it out I can almost always solve my own question so here it goes. I have over the years collected metal bangles and I have all sizes and thickness silver, gold and copper. What I was wondering is this when I get to the end because the bangle is totally round it doesn't open it is a slip on bangle, when I get to the end with peyote do I just do what they call a zip up of the starting point and the end point it that it, did I answer my own question is that what you would do? okay thanks have a nice evening and thanks for your attention in this matter.

    • @angieluvv7735

Okay I have these thick hoops but after I bead so long about an inch my threads separate and yes breaks why what am I doing wrong I don't understand and I am doing peyote and doing it right but as it curves it wants to separate and break. I did the stitch off the hoop and it didn't do it only on the hoop.

      @@Susan-ms1wm have you bees waxed your thread before starting? Idk why but this used to happen to me quite a bit using a different kind of thread compared to the fireline string I like using now. I suggest beeswax first if not look into the fireline thread it’s amazing and stays in place. As for the peyote stitch I’m not sure what would cause it to not hold. I’ll get back to you ASAP if I figure that out

    • @angieluvv7735
      @angieluvv7735 3 года назад

      @@Susan-ms1wm ooooh okay I see what you mean so how she shows in the video that you have to wax the string together. I normally don’t do that and it still works out perfectly. Sorry I get what you mean as I re-read your question. My suggestion now would be to get your hands on some fireline thread and use that instead as it doesn’t fray easily and you can manipulate the string to stay in the place you want it to VERY well

    • @angieluvv7735
      @angieluvv7735 3 года назад

      And fireline so you don’t have to wax the string together as it is already a thick type of string. I use delica beads with this so before you as yes it works perfectly with the delica beads🙂 hope I answered your questions!

    So you don't go through all 7 beads? Just the last bead once? Than start skipping? Interesting, almost every video I've seen they go through all of the beads. Opposite of which way ge thread is going, than once more thru the last, to make it a circle. If that makes sense. Lol I'm getting ready to start beading with approximately 60 students this coming week. Out of those 60 , hardly any have done any kind of beading so I'm doing the wrapping technique with them. There's a couple who want to do peyote..
    So I'm just trying to refresh my memory and figuring out a successful way to explain how to start. When you're just doing it, it's easy. But explaining it in a way students will understand &, stick is a little tricky. Lol
