melissa, I am an elder wit my tribe, I have been beading for over 50 years and I still get on here and watch talented artist like you teach, I am not to old to learn a few new tricks... you do great job.
I love what you said about having to charge more, because the time it takes. I learned in 2004 when I got out of prison, from a lady that I met at sweat lodge, it was years later that I figured out that she kept me from having an "idle mind" and kept me from getting in trouble. I've never been back to jail, and Yes I did turned my life around. Thank you for a refresher on this style. I still do some kind of bead work, mostly loom work. Thank you
Melissa you are so enjoying to watch. I am self taught beader. Old white woman that married a Menominee from WI. Peyote stitch is what I use often. I bead for my son, for his regalia. He is a grass dancer. I love doing embroidery beading. Beading is so relaxing for me. Your encourage words or words of wisdom was what I needed to hear today. Thank you kindly. This is my first time viewing you and I am full bell follower now. 😊 ❤ Kind regards and blessings. Mary from Wisconsin USA
Miigwetch for your video! I’ve ALWAYS wanted to learn how to do beadwork, but no one in my family did it.... now almost 50 years old and “University RUclips” have created a official bead hoarder and lover! Can’t wait to try this next!
Thank you so much for this video!! I am 35 and just got into beading. I am from the Colville Tribes in the states. I can't wait to try this out and hopefully will be able to make some great Christmas gifts. I appreciate all the work you put into this and explaining what you need. Thank you again so much!!
You definitely have alot of patience, but its something that's needed in this type of work. I love the way you take your time describing every step and thoroughly. Thank you
Melissa, Thank you so much for teaching this beading technique. I am continuously amazed at such talent out in Turtle Island and am so grateful to have you to teach us. Thank you for your expertise regarding explanation. My niece just graduated with a JD from UNM Law School and I am making her a medallion. Knowing that there are truly amazing creative teachers like you, I wanted to express my deepest gratitude. Thank you for your time. Blessings to you and your family. I love this video at least I learned how to start! Never have done peyote stitch before it looks awesome and I want to learn thank you so much!! Have a blessed evening ❤️‼️
Great advice on patience!! So cool of you to drop some wisdom in there in addition to the great instruction. Looking forward to binge watching your videos and getting back into beading :)
I just discovered your channel today! Thank you for this video! I'm interested in starting peyote stiching so I'll be watching this again and again. 😂💜
Thank you for showing iam listening to you and it’s true I want to support as many of my sisters and brothers when I purchase their work but I definitely can’t afford everything so yes I wanna learn so I can make my own for me thank you your a great teacher that’s great medicine ❤️👏
It can be a time consuming process but, I enjoyed recording this video. It's the editing process that takes forever. That you so much for watching ❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate your video nobody in my family beads and I tried it and I love it so finding someone to teach me is hard so you video is helping me expand my beading knowledge!!! You're work is beautiful !
Thank you so much for your video Melissa, I appreciate you taking the time to share with our community. Thank you for your patience speech! It’s definitely true that we need to do that for each other, and ourselves. Thank you for sharing your light ❤
I’m a new beader and slowly finding my preference, I sure like this stitch. I’ve attempted the bead wrap on parachord but I can get my stitch tight enough! But anyway, I’ve just RUclips’d how to do all my beadwork. I enjoy the little details and dedication that goes into any sort of beadwork. I love getting lost in beading. Anyway, I think I’m going to give this a shot! I loved your detailed steps and side commentary. It’s always fun to talk and bead and get into your groove. Thanks for sharing!
Very nicely done. Odd count Tubular Peyote stitch is always prettiest. Never thought of starting in the center of the cord. Found that pretty interesting. Keep up the beautiful work.
Thank you for sharing. I am a 71 year old retired teacher. Your teaching is easy to follow and I appreciate your patience. I’ve never had the opportunity or time to learn to bead. I am excited to watch and rewatch your instructions. Tangled thread drives me up a tree like a squirrel! Your suggestions as to the number of beads to go around the cord helped as well👍🥰
Just came across your video, I must say as a beader myself, it is true when you say we take the time to unknot a knot, no matter how difficult the knot is, I think most beaders have the determination to make it right, great job on the tutorial...trust me...using the word knot more than once in a sentence can get redundant but it has to be said..lol
Thankyou for your generosity, so many families only get partials when being taught, i showed my granddaughter all i knew and sent her to utube university for more teachers. I love peyote with exception of starting it, sometimes it was awesome sometimes youd have to wonder how that happened. Now after all these years the instruction that i was given was a lie, must be an odd count to come out right on the first row. Believe it or not i was told however many beads it takes to go around the cord?? Explains a whole lot ❤ Many blessings to you
Thank you for explaining so well! I used to make those before when I was younger around the age of 18-20 but now i am 68 and this helped me refresh my memory! 😊👍❤️
The internet usually leaves me confused and frustrated with unfinished projects 😏 but i find your tutorial inspiring and helpful , so THANK YOU ..... I will definitely be sharing on Facebook down here in IOWA !
Oooh thank you! When I did this style I'd actually bead the peyote stitch separately and sew it directly onto the rope, this helps me so much. We'lalin
I really like you teaching this I want to try it for sure always want to lean the beadwork you do amazing job for sure.Thank You so so Much Much Respect to you..
Thank you so much for this video, I came into this to learn how to peyote stitch and left with some much needed knowledge at the end about learning to be patient with loved ones. I needed to hear that so much at this moment in time. Kinanâskomitin ✨❤️🌾
Thank you so much for doing this tutorial, I mastered the peyote stitch method. When I first started doing peyote stitch I learned from this tutorial and I wanted to thank you for passing on this knowledge to all of us! I also started doing peyote stitch edging on my medallions and earrings! By the way your beadwork is beautiful! 🤗
I learned this when I was really young, like 6 or 7. Both my mom and aunt bead. My aunt taught me how to do it with 2 beads every hop though? I think my mom only does one bead at a time and I didn’t have the patience for it at such a you g age. I only made a keychain and then felt accomplished and never tried it again. I wish I would have stuck with it! Now I have to learn again
I don't see any recent posts from you so I'm hoping you are well. Also hoping you will someday again post more videos because you are so real, have good vibes and do great work 😊
Ty I keep going back to this video because I am trying a difficult design for my first rope. I am starting for the third time. Hopefully it works out this time lol 👍
Thank you for the down to Earth tutorial Im new really to beading, i can do earrings n lightercases but keychains i deginitely need practice Ive only ever made one with my teacher(sister) guifing me along the way. I hope I can make a wristlet with the peyote stitch .
She talks and explains things like me !!! 😂 love the videos girl keep up the great work . I’m Lenape , from Small rez in Ontario ..Moraviantown Delaware Nation
Awe! Thank you ❤️ I am a Chilcotin Cree born in Fort McMurray Alberta but, mostly raised in Edmonton AB. I have family from BC (where I currently live) and Saskatchewan 🥰
I didn’t look into lanyard work and what I should get for supplies. I completely winged it. I have ready made neck lanyards and it was a 20pk not a 10. They’re also flat not a rope. Hahah 🤦🏻♀️ Most people I know are making earrings and I wanted to try something different! I was inspired by your beaded hoops video of the turquoise blue. I’m passed my half way point! It’s taking forever and I’m thinking of finding tools to make the length shorter for future lanyards! 😊
NICE! Beading is a creative experience, bead by bead you create a canvas touching base with our culture from the heart the mind and our teachers. Thank you for sharing L.Aguilar
I really loved your video and have always wanted to learn peyote stitch. The video is clear and I love the way you talk throughout explaining in detail. I have recently retired and now want to begin my passion of beading. Thank you so much and keep up the awesome work! :)

Great question! You might have to go through the first row and half a couple times with the thread to get some tension. I have to admit I haven't tried a stethoscope yet. But, I love doing a lot of trial and error when first figuring things out ☺️
melissa, I am an elder wit my tribe, I have been beading for over 50 years and I still get on here and watch talented artist like you teach, I am not to old to learn a few new tricks... you do great job.
I wish you be my friend!
Then why is your profile picture a girl that's in now way an elder
And pretty sure an elder wouldn't have videos about lights saber's saved Playlist.. you know that's all public right? 😅

Your doing great! Your instruction is very helpful and I greatly appreciate the step by step and precise verbal instructions. Thanks
You’re far more graceful and wise than some of the other beadwork teachers on here. More authentic with your words too. New subscriber!

I would love to see how you make your designs. I am super new to this and peyote seems to be a difficult one to make designs for ☺️

Thank you so much Diane! I'm so glad you enjoy my tutorials 🥰
Working on beaded keychain. How do you get to bend without seeming to be tight and chance of breaking beads? I’m using delicas.
When starting the first circle around, how would I start on a stethoscope? Since I can't put the needle through it? Thank you for your help!
Same question
Great question! You might have to go through the first row and half a couple times with the thread to get some tension.
I have to admit I haven't tried a stethoscope yet. But, I love doing a lot of trial and error when first figuring things out ☺️
Thank you ..love this and you did well with your video :)
Melissa, Thank you for sharing your creativity in beading. i wanted to ask what is the size of the rope you are using. Thank you so much. Blessings
